We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Duo offers dual-factor authentication for our logins. I put in my credentials and hit go. Then I get an alert on my Apple watch, and I approve it. That part is just phenomenal.""By deploying Duo, we have virtually eliminated the risk of direct deposit redirection as a result of credentials that have been compromised via phishing.""The anti-phishing feature is the most valuable.""I lead an IT organization that has a significant amount of technical debt, and we're not in a zero-trust architecture yet. I'm pushing in that direction. Duo helps me considerably with my identity in an environment where I don't have zero trust. It's helping me bridge the gap until I can build a zero trust architecture.""We're working remotely. It helps us keep people more safe. Its adoption has been fine. I like the fact that you can bypass it if you need to because there are situations where the internet doesn't work, etc.""The flexibility is the most valuable feature. We use it for the app on the phone. When we're at different locations, the phone is usually there, so we can use that. It has just been a very flexible option.""It provides single-pane-of-glass management, which is pretty easy and straightforward. Because we manage multiple access tiers, it allows us to essentially manage everything from one viewpoint and not have many viewpoints for the same product. This is important because it is a time and resource saver. It also saves us money.""We get fewer threats to remediate due to the two-factor authentication, which does not allow as many threats through."

"The solution is stable. We haven't experienced any bugs or glitches.""The soundness of the solution is its most valuable feature. For example, if you are in our corporate network, you can log on without any traffic interfering.""The solution has a smooth and configurable user interface for single sign-on capabilities.""We use the product to run different reports.""The most valuable feature is multifactor authentication.""It's pretty stable as a product.""The solution is highly stable and scalable""PingFederate is very flexible. We can do many customizations, and it also provides an SDK to tailor it to our specific requirements. There are also numerous plugins available. I've worked with tools like ForgeRock and Okta, but I find PingFederate to be the most customizable."

Cons
"The only challenge is finding the right person sometimes. From what I've seen, being a named account is a big deal.""We have had instances where Duo Security stops working on a user's device, which we have fixed by uninstalling and then reinstalling it.""One area that might be improved is that setting up SMS texting is not as easy as using the app, even though it does support it.""While two-factor authentication with mobile devices provides a high level of security, it's still not foolproof, as someone could potentially steal your phone. It would be beneficial to have information about the authentication location.""The only time I really had some negative feedback for them was about the UI of their mobile app, but they improved it in the last version. It is good on the functionality side, but their pricing model is a little bit weird. Currently, there is no price advantage in signing up for yearly contracts. If you are on a monthly term or a yearly contract, you basically pay the same price, and that is very unusual. Normally, there is a discount when someone signs up for the 12-month system.""We had some trouble with the password reset function.""We have users who move throughout the world, and their levels of connectivity change. It can be a challenge, if someone is in Bahrain, to authenticate via Duo.""Duo Security should have more customized use cases. For example, if a client needs to have more customization, it would be better to connect directly with Duo's R&D to try to discuss the issues together in order to add customizations."

More Cisco Duo Cons →

"In the beginning, the initial setup was very complex.""I think that the connection with like Microsoft Word, especially for Office 365, is a weak point that could be improved.""The product is not customizable.""They could use some bio-certification. It's just more user-friendly and more convenient than entering the one time passes. That would be an improvement.""It requires some expertise to set up and manage.""PingID would benefit from a better user interface for integration.""The initial setup appears to be difficult in the beginning.""Currently, the main integration is SAML-based, but other integration methodologies need to be supported."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "During testing we are allowed a certain number of licenses for free."
  • "Its price is reasonable. It is not highly expensive."
  • "Their pricing model is a little bit weird. Currently, there is no price advantage in signing up for yearly contracts. There are no additional costs to the standard licensing costs."
  • "Our licensing fee is currently on an annual basis."
  • "The licensing is very good because it does not cost a lot of money. It's affordable for all-sized customers, including enterprises. There is an additional cost for premium support."
  • "Duo Security is free."
  • "With regard to pricing, for a small business buying a one off, it's pretty expensive. If it's an enterprise that has thousands of employees, however, it's really nothing to protect your data because if your network goes down or it's breached, you're losing millions of dollars every minute. When it comes to a large enterprise, it's priced where it should be because you're talking business to business. You're not talking business to consumer."
  • "Price wise, it's not cheap, but it's not expensive at all either. It's in the middle."
  • More Cisco Duo Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "PingID pricing is a ten out of ten because it's a little bit cheaper than other tools, such as Okta and ForgeRock, and supports multiple tools."
  • "PingID's pricing is pretty competitive."
  • "The product is costly."
  • "The pricing is neither too expensive nor too cheap."
  • "Ping offers flexible pricing that's not standardized."
