Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"By using their Helios Cloud service, you have all your clusters, no matter where they are located, in one web portal.""The support is awesome. They are very fast, competent and friendly.""Backups are quick and painless to set up.""The most valuable features are the rapid VM restores and the ability to quickly find files and download them directly to my desktop so that I can put them where I need them to be.""We are very satisfied with the product as a whole—all the backup functions, the data protection functions. We are very satisfied with those, and the product is very simple to use.""No longer does it take several hours to backup a VM or troubleshoot a backup issue.""Cohesity is a cost-effective storage designed for secondary or archival data. It also integrates well with a number of other systems, like VMware, Pure Storage, or AWS with its large array of APIs available to the user.""This solution is easy to manage."

"I am impressed with the tool's technical alliance with Veeam and Veritas.""While the challenges posed by the difficulties were significant, they prompted the replacement of problematic components, resulting in the resolution of issues. Importantly, there were no substantial ongoing concerns. Regarding the overall performance, it has been consistently excellent."

Cons
"The platform has certain limitations, mostly stemming from the restrictions imposed by the VMware API and some other factors. One area where there is room for improvement is the tracking of replicated copies, especially in the context of remote archive duplication.""Microsoft Exchange online mailbox backups would be fantastic.""It would be great to add SQL Object Level restore, so user objects, tables, etc. can be restored without having to restore the entire DB.""I would like to see Cohesity have the ability to do a file level restore from a Windows server, which is storing data on dynamic disk.""The rack mounting instructions did not appear to be correct, but we were able to overcome it.""Non-cloud services need improvement.""Their UI requires a manual refresh. It doesn't seem like it updates itself sometimes when you're moving from screens or waiting for a change to take effect, so you have to manually refresh.""We would love to see direct compatibility with HPE Simplivity, which we also leverage."

More Cohesity DataProtect Cons →

"The product needs to improve performance while scaling out. It also needs to improve stability.""Perhaps the most notable area for enhancement lies in the web interface for management. The current limitations in LDAP editing capabilities are not addressed in the UI, and I haven't observed any recent updates. It's possible that the new version of the DXI service incorporates improvements in the GUI, but I cannot confirm. While there is room for improvement in the current GUI, it remains a relatively minor issue. Overall, the system is comprehensive, covering aspects such as reports on latency and networking, leaving little room for additional enhancements in those areas."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support."
  • "If SQL is in heavy use at your location, I would highly recommend narrowing your PoC testing to Cohesity and Rubrik. They will be competitive on pricing with each other, so really put them through the paces."
  • "The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in."
  • "Cohesity came in at the best price."
  • "Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day."
  • "Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
  • "We purchased support from Cohesity to ensure that should we face an issue, we don't have to deal with different service providers."
  • "With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."
  • More Cohesity DataProtect Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I do not oversee this aspect, as pricing is contingent on factors such as volume, technical specifications, and the desired features. Consequently, I lack information on the pricing details and structure."
