We performed a comparison between Cohesity DataProtect and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Zerto, Commvault and others in Backup and Recovery."The recovery process is effective, especially when it comes to other types of data, such as VMs, and overall, the performance is commendable."
"The dashboard is very rich and provides details needed for a moderator."
"It is also very easy to determine which VMs are being backed up and which ones aren't. This is helpful to make sure nothing is being missed."
"Cohesity is a cost-effective storage designed for secondary or archival data. It also integrates well with a number of other systems, like VMware, Pure Storage, or AWS with its large array of APIs available to the user."
"We can run test scripts on production data."
"It's stable."
"Backups are quick and painless to set up."
"The enterprise search and instant restore are pretty valuable. Also, the Helios stuff is pretty good and the SAS engine for ransom malware detection."
"We found the initial setup to be quite simple."
"The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to navigate inside a backup point to look for a specific folder or data you want to recover."
"The initial setup, if it is error-free, is very simple."
"The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license."
"Veeam helps to create a stable environment with virtual servers."
"The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved."
"Technical support is good."
"We are waiting on the AIX agent to be released."
"There is room for improvement in terms of price."
"I would like to see the management of multiple nodes inside a tenant. If you want to manage a Cohesity environment, you either go on a per-node base, and you can hop from one node to the other, or you need to implement their SaaS capability but it always needs an internet connection. We would really like to have some kind of local management entity so that we can see all the Cohesity nodes in a customer environment and manage those nodes centrally. That's something that we would really like, and they are really working on it."
"Physical RDMs on virtual machines could be a bit easier to configure and plan out."
"Many of the reports are basic, at most, and at times we had to open a support ticket to help find or develop a report for our needs."
"A little more documentation on standard faults would help, as new features are being released quite often."
"The solution's dashboard or UI can be enhanced and made more user-friendly than its competitors."
"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve."
"I am not very impressed by the technical support I received when I had an issue."
"I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials. We really need a Window OS. It doesn't like the domain admin account. it's a primary permission issue."
"Interface could possibly be improved."
"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"The predictability of the solution needs improvement. Sometimes, if it's doing something at the back end, it may go slow. Today, the backup completion took four hours, but sometimes it can do the backup in 30 minutes or an hour. With solutions like NetBackup, I can predict to a much higher degree of certainty how long something will take to complete."
"They should improve the solution's automation features."
