"An affordable solution for small organizations to do basic network monitoring.""It is really easy in Icinga to create your own plugin and integrate it without any fuss. And it works just perfectly fine.""I like the ability to amend and adjust things really easily, which is useful in a case where you could make it auto-discover and then set a template to say all of these applications or servers under this template have an automatic threshold set that you’d set up manually.""We have found the solution to be stable.""The best thing about the solution is how it highlights errors, the issues, and what needs my attention. The solution directs me to areas that I should look for first.""Macros and the ability to connect it to Google Maps are valuable features.""The value of Icinga is that it has hundreds of plugins, so it's really easy to monitor pretty much anything.""There's a module called Icinga Director, which helps us configure the product using an intuitive interface through clicks instead of creating a text configuration. It's very helpful for us."

"The most valuable feature is the support for monitoring Cisco switches.""The initial setup, while not simple, is easier than other products.""The basic setup is very easy.""The features I found most valuable are the user interface and a wide range of network devices that are easy to configure.""The level of discovery-based configuration that lets us auto-configure the monitoring for various systems is a valuable feature.""The most valuable feature is service assurance.""There are lots of great features and functionality within the solution.""We use it to monitor and manage our servers."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"Icinga is a complex solution that's hard to learn. It's a powerful product for monitoring, but new users will have a hard time figuring out what to do.""The user interface should be improved.""At this time, the layout of the website is a bit difficult. It should be more user-friendly for changing the background and logos.""Icinga’s automation could be improved.""The tool currently fails to provide notifications to users.""The installation and configuration are very complex.""One thing that Icinga lacks is the capability to create advanced and customized dashboards within the tool itself.""The solution lacks many features important to higher-level IT management and network support."

More Icinga Cons →

"The product could be more secure and more stable.""Outside of the normal standard monitoring, I would like to extend patching, importing patching, and supporting patching for Windows Servers.""I want Zabbix to improve the UX/UI. Zabbix doesn't use a JavaScript chart for images, and I want them to improve this.""The user interface could be a bit better. They could update it a bit.""I would like to better be able to monitor Oracle processes.""The reporting features need improvement, especially detailed inventory reporting. Since it's freeware, reporting may not be a major focus.""My company wanted to do an exercise command to access IT from Cameroon. They wanted to access an FSS to a second host with second equipment that was on another coast but it is not possible on Zabbix to do it. They want to directly access from the front-end of Zabbix to access a prompt in Zabbix to an access terminal. In the front-end, there is no way to do that. That would be an important improvement.""In the next release, I'm hoping for features targeted towards larger users with more customizable options. Despite this, I think pre-canned reports that can be used straight out of the box would be beneficial rather than having to configure each report individually. Additionally, a deeper dive into software configurations on the machines would be useful, although I understand there may be challenges in implementing this due to scripting requirements. More documentation would also be appreciated."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
