Pros
"Microsoft Teams is a very good collaborative tool.""It's great for meeting conferences.""Microsoft Teams can facilitate the broadcast of information and distribution of tasks through a single platform.""You can ping, chat, and call someone, and at the same time, on the next tab, you can see all the documents related to what someone is referring to.""In general, Teams allows me to connect with anyone in the organization and share files with the team.""The integration, ability to share documents is very good.""Communication is really easy to handle.""The collaborating feature."

"For any organization with more than one person in it, if they are trying to organize things to let people in the company know what others are doing, then this solution is good for them.""The product makes it easy to manage lists, forms, searching, and security. One of the most valuable features is its integration with Active Directory.""Helps with document collaboration and workflow.""Its most valuable feature is the document library.""Document flows, storage, and numbering take off the actions for checking and assigning the numbering and running around with approvals and pre-approvals.""The most valuable feature is the ability to easily build intranet sites for communicating within teams, storing documentation, product information, pricing policies, updates on product infrastructure, and other related news.""Removed the need of paper storage and people flow into the office.""What I like about SharePoint is that they keep up with a lot of updates, and they bring out new features. I also like that the system is integrated with the Microsoft 365 suite of apps."

Cons
"Microsoft Teams could improve the integration with Outlook because most of us are not using the last version of Outlook and it causes some issues.""We have experienced response delays with the product. It can be hard to understand where to click in the solution. Also, the solution should incorporate videos like 'How to use Teams' that can be popularized among customers.""Allowing you to participate in the conference to which you have been invited regardless of the platform on which it is hosted would be beneficial.""The remote control needs some improvement.""The solution's recording could be improved because it is not as good as other products.""Inability to see large numbers of participants.""The product should provide a to-do list feature.""There could be performance spikes and better reliability. We saw a lot of stability issues."

More Microsoft Teams Cons →

"The initial setup process is not intuitive.""Flexibility and extensibility, above everything, could be improved.""No good process to import emails from several users into a single comprehensive SP repository.""You still need a bit of expertise to add branding.""It is too heavy. MS should not have paid foreign coders dollars per each row of code. They wasted the stability and reliability in the end.""This solution would benefit from the implementation of enhanced online forms and template development capabilities.""The solution lacks collaboration features.""More hints and make it more user-customizable."

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
