Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up."
"he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features."
"This is stable and scalable."
"Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR."
"The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"It's a single-agent installation with many features including wireless protection."
"Some of the features that were important were a built-in firewall and device control."
"ATP is really impressive, and with EDR, it is the best solution I have ever known."
"It is a stable product."
"It is a scalable product and is average stability-wise."
"I like the additional features that come with it. The firewall feature and the encryption feature that they throw in are good as well. Another thing that I like about Symantec is that it runs on different platforms, not just on Windows."
"This solution has helped us because it is really useful for blocking all kinds of viruses."
"When they started they found it very easy; not easy to implement but easy to use. We started with the headquarters here and later we also implemented it for all the subsidiaries in the region, in other countries. They have a centralized solution, so they can help other countries in management."
"Your workstation doesn't slow down, unlike when you use Symantec, for example."
"The solution is easy to use, flexible, and secure."
"The solution integrates well with other Trend Micro products."
"The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Smart Protection is automatic scanning."
"Helps with vulnerability and patch management, making it easier to provide top-notch services to our customers."
"It is a stable solution."
"Trend Micro has consistently been recognized as a leader for endpoint security on Gartner, which has been our top priority. Based on my personal experience, we encountered fewer ransomware attacks for Trend Micro customers in Sri Lanka."
"It is their most comprehensive endpoint protection solution. It includes DLP and Office 365. It also includes device control and the rest of the little bells and whistles that the traditional AV vendors have."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later."
"About four years back, Symantec's signature was very heavy and their signature patch was around 200MB or 300MB files."
"Multi-domain policy options for exceptions and global blocks."
"The technical support could improve because when you reach level one support there is a lot of delays."
"We must have complete dissolution with advance care protection but we are finding out that we need more Symantec technical specialists. We have identified a need to hire at least one more technical specialist familiar with Symantec to improve our solutions capabilities."
"The reporting function needs to be more user friendly in general."
"Any external device which is inserted into a computer should be subject to an auto-scan policy, to automatically scan it before accepting the device... They need to make it more user-friendly, so that when anyone puts in a USB stick it will be scanned, popping up any problems before it is used."
"If the agent can be minimized so that it can work with in-memory concepts, that would be ideal. As of now, it is file-based, signature-based."
"When, Microsoft releases a new OS version twice a year, you never know if the current version of Symantec Endpoint Protection will support it. You can have a lag between when Microsoft releases a new client - and then the current version doesn't work correctly - and it could be some months between updates from Symantec."
"Documentation-wise, they are a disaster. If you want to know something about Trend Micro, you will not find anything useful from Trend Micro themselves. You have to basically dig some blog, or you need to seek some expert to help you understand what they are offering. I have never seen such a good product with such disastrous documentation. Feature-wise, almost all vendors are providing the same features, but it is all about the integration. For example, Trend Micro is promoting their endpoint protection suite, but they never mention about the integration that they are offering with their EDR solution. They are treating each product as a separate island, and you don't know much about their integration. It would be good if they can focus on integration."
"We were considering switching to SentinalOne because it has pre-detection, and Trend Micro does not offer this; it's something the solution should add."
"I want the tool to provide the solutions integrated within it to have regular updates. Currently, the solutions integrated with Smart Protection get updates from the cloud. I want to minimize the download from the cloud."
"The pricing of the solution can be improved."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is a very system-intensive product, and it would be better if it could be made less burdensome on the resources."
"In the next release, I would like to see a combination of the different features from Apex One and OfficeScan in Trend Micro Smart, rather than as upgraded features."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection needs to improve its compliance features to cover more domains, such as BCIDSS rules. Enhancements in this area would enable quicker and more comprehensive compliance reporting."
"The only drawback to this solution is that it needs different products for different types of clients, and it would be better to have a single agent for all of the products."
