Has good security features but the reporting needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is a cloud-based solution."
  • "The solution's reporting part is not good and needs more development."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is a cloud-based solution.

What needs improvement?

The solution's reporting part is not good and needs more development. We get unpredictable errors when we use it. OIC needs to be developed because it is limited. For example, you can't make huge data migrations and data integrations with it.

It is hard to make a report because you can't use an SQL browser. All the other third-party products are not free, and you need to pay for them. Using Oracle's internal reporting solution for running SQL statements is a waste of time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Cloud for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Oracle Cloud a two or three out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Oracle Cloud is a scalable solution, but we have many performance problems. For example, when we faced an important performance problem, the solution’s scalability did not work until the problem was resolved. We waited for a month or two for the problem to be solved. Also, there are some problems with the service desk part of the Oracle Fusion.

Most of our clients for Oracle Cloud are medium-level and enterprise businesses.

I rate Oracle Cloud a six out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support team responds late.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is cheaper compared to Oracle E-Business Suite.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

Oracle Cloud has good security features that benefit our clients' operations.

Overall, I rate the solution a five out of ten.

Beneficial visualization, well integrated, and intuitive UI
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of the Oracle Cloud Platform are good visualization and analytics. The solution is very well integrated with predictive analytics and forecasting. These features go beyond the traditional reports and visualization."
  • "Oracle Cloud Platform can improve the integration with hybrid and cross-cloud deployments. It should be a flexible solution with a very well-defined integration with other applications in the hybrid environment. There are certain integrations that are not straightforward."

What is our primary use case?

We use Oracle Cloud Platforms predominantly for ERP and some analytics. However, we also address beyond ERP where we integrate data from on-premise sources, such as custom applications or other PaaS solutions. We integrate the data, load it into the cloud autonomous from the data warehouse, then build analytics on top of it.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the Oracle Cloud Platform are good visualization and analytics. The solution is very well integrated with predictive analytics and forecasting. These features go beyond the traditional reports and visualization.

The documentation quality is excellent and the UI is intuitive.

What needs improvement?

Oracle Cloud Platform can improve the integration with hybrid and cross-cloud deployments. It should be a flexible solution with a very well-defined integration with other applications in the hybrid environment. There are certain integrations that are not straightforward.

The visualization could improve by providing what the other vendors have. However, in terms of customer requirements, whatever visualization Oracle Cloud Platform has will suffice.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Oracle Cloud Platform for approximately seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Oracle Cloud Platform is quite stable because it's not a brand new solution, and it's built on top of the traditional product of OBIE and ODIE. In this way it is stable. There will be a certain bug since it's a new cloud operation, but overall the solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the Oracle Cloud Platform is very good.

We have approximately 250 consultants using this solution in my organization.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support from Oracle is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have a vast experience of 23 years and I have used many solutions over the years. Oracle Cloud Platform may not be the best solution, but it's comparable to other solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the Oracle Cloud Platform is very well documented. If you follow the processes in the documentation, there should not be any challenge. However, when you integrate with on-premise sources, you may face some challenges.

What about the implementation team?

The maintenance staff we need depends on the projects. However, you don't need many PaaS solutions, such as this. In the maintenance of the application, you may need consultants, but for core application maintenance, you don't need any because it is managed by Oracle.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Oracle Cloud Platform has a decent pricing model.

What other advice do I have?

Oracle Cloud Platform is a great solution. I would advise others to try it out, the features are quite comparable with all the competitors.

I rate Oracle Cloud Platform an eight out of ten.

Stable data center with endless resources
Pros and Cons
  • "The main benefit is that you're getting all of the resources you require on a subscription base. So, you get to pay as you go instead of having to have a CAPEX, you convert your CAPEX to OPEX to cover the data center cost."
  • "It isn't easy to get qualified people who know how to work on this tool. All my administrators are learning as they go. Since this is the only cloud solution provider in Saudi Arabia, and it has only been around for one year, I am sure that this will change with time."

What is our primary use case?

I am an IT infrastructure manager for an aerospace engineering company in Saudi Arabia. This solution is where we host our data center.

What is most valuable?

The main benefit is that you're getting all of the resources you require on a subscription basis. You get to pay as you go instead of having to have a CAPEX, you convert your CAPEX to OPEX to cover the data center cost.

What needs improvement?

It isn't easy to get qualified people who know how to work on this tool. All my administrators are learning as they go. Since this is the only cloud solution provider in Saudi Arabia, and it has only been around for one year, I am sure that this will change with time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously were using an on-premise data center.

How was the initial setup?

I would rate the setup a medium in terms of difficulty as there is some level of training required.

There are not six to eight people maintaining the tool.

What about the implementation team?

We utilized a partner team of OCI to do the initial setup and configuration. It took about one month to complete.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is an annual and a subscription option.

What other advice do I have?

This solution is a bit more complex than other options, and there are not as many qualified engineers, administrators, etc. out there. It may take you some time to find qualified people to work on it for you, or you will need to train your own people to work on it.

I would rate this an eight out of ten.

Solution usable after a few clicks; good for testing
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature I think should be improved is the option to rename the machines."
  • "I would recommend this solution to other people."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for Oracle Cloud is testing.

What needs improvement?

The feature I think should be improved is the option to rename the machines. Sometimes it happens that I can rename something like VCM and other options. When this happens, sometimes I can't remember the search and I don't like that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Cloud solution for about two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of this solution an eight, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability of this solution a nine, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best.

How was the initial setup?

My impression is that the initial setup was easy. This solution is usable within a few clicks.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to other people.

I would rate this solution as a whole an eight, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best.

Seamless deployment, good documentation, but support for integrating with non-Oracle solutions is unclear
Pros and Cons
  • "Oracle does well when it comes to data privacy and security, which are critical."
  • "Specific to the Oracle Cloud; while they have been able to showcase inbuilt features for Oracle applications, what doesn't really come across clearly is what happens when you want to host, work with, or integrate with applications outside of the Oracle stack."

What is our primary use case?

We have been using it for HR use cases, typically in two spaces. One is analytics, and the other involves the Oracle digital assistant that is hosted on the Oracle Cloud. It involves a set of conversational layers for HR use cases. Typically, the use cases are for payroll, employee absence, and performance.

What is most valuable?

The Oracle Cloud integrates well with other applications from the Oracle stack.

There is a lot of documentation available.

Oracle does well when it comes to data privacy and security, which are critical.

What needs improvement?

Specific to the Oracle Cloud; while they have been able to showcase inbuilt features for Oracle applications, what doesn't really come across clearly is what happens when you want to host, work with, or integrate with applications outside of the Oracle stack.

They do an okay job of releasing use cases within the stack, but I would like to see more features released outside of the stack.

The roadmap from Oracle is quite unclear.

Technical support from Oracle needs to be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the Oracle Cloud Platform for approximately 12 months.

We have been using this product but not very much to this point. It's pretty much nascent but we've now started ramping it up.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Since our deployment, it has been fairly stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is absolutely scalable, as long as they can provide integrations to external stacks. We have fewer than 2,000 users with varied roles in the organization.

How are customer service and support?

Not necessarily as an Oracle Cloud user, but as a general Oracle user, the technical support definitely has room for improvement.

Our experience has been that the response time is poor, escalations are the norm, and things are tossed around without a direct response. I'm not sure where the issue is but that's the general experience.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. Deploying it was seamless and it has been a good experience. End to end, it took us approximately three weeks to deploy.

What about the implementation team?

Our implementation was a combined effort. We used an integrator as well as a consultant. The consultant knew more about the product.

What other advice do I have?

The biggest lesson that I have learned from working with Oracle Cloud is that using other applications from the Oracle stack works well. It's a linear job to finish. However, if you are trying to integrate with Salesforce, for example, there are quite a few unknowns for which you don't really have any reference. You're primarily running it by trial and error rather than knowing what that involves. There is a lot of documentation and information available when dealing with the Oracle stack, but the rest of it seems to be a little hazy.

From the limited experience that we have with this product, I would rate it a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
