We performed a comparison between Appian and HCL Domino based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Rapid Application Development Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most productive aspect of Appian lies in its ability to develop interfaces, particularly user interfaces. Creating user interfaces is highly productive, when these interfaces are integrated with the original database. In such cases, using record types proves to be a very efficient method of handling data. The synergy between interfaces and record types enhances productivity."
"What stands out are the speed of the product, the quick, easy development, and visual diagramming."
"The tech support is quite good."
"Another advantage of this tool is its reports and records. You can maintain dashboards, layouts. If you with a Java solution, it takes six months time. If you use this tool, you can finish in one or one and a half months' time."
"Form building capabilities and well thought out process modelling are key points to this product."
"Technical support has been amazing overall."
"The setup is easy."
"There is no need to worry about vulnerabilities in the system, because Appian built a secure system."
"This solution can be used for workflow application so that applications can be easily developed."
"The most valuable feature of HCL Domino is how robust it is."

"They offer good support and provide a roadmap."
"The biggest areas of improvement would be in facilitating team development, DevOps, and integration with typical tools used in enterprise development (Jenkins, Subversion, etc.)"
"Authoring tool is slow to use resulted in limitations on how quickly solutions can be built."
"We have clients that want to use Office 365, Microsoft Analytics, and Power Apps. Appian just isn't the same as using something specifically designed to cater to the Microsoft Suite."
"There are four areas I believe Appian could improve in. The first is a seamless contact center integration. Appian does not have a contact center feature. The second is advanced features in RPA. The third would be chatbot and email bot integration—while Appian comes with chatbot and email bot, it's not as mature as it should be, compared to the competition. The fourth area would be next best action, since there is not much of this sort of feature in Appian. These are all features which competitors' products have, and in a mature manner, whereas Appian lacks on these four areas. I see customers who are moving from Appian to Pega because these features are not in Appian."
"One room for improvement is the ease of UI UX development, like in OutSystems and Mendix."
"My only request is that they decrease the license costs."
"It would be useful if they could create an academy or forum in the future to help active users answer questions they have about the solution."
"If that had more DevOps capabilities, it would be an excellent product."
"HCL Domino needs to be more user-friendly."
"The product's user interface is one of its shortcomings since it is outdated, making it an area for improvement."
"It would be advantageous if the web server could seamlessly pick up configuration changes without the need for a complete restart."
"The solution could improve Kubernetes or Dockers migration to new environments in the cloud."
"The solution is expensive."
"From the Domino side, it should support DKIM and DMARC."
"Designing a new template could provide a refreshed visual experience for users without significant changes to the underlying functionality."
"An area for improvement in HCL Domino is security. New enhancements in the IT industry mean that security should be improved. The HCL Domino GUI also needs improvement."
