We performed a comparison between Oracle Application Express (APEX) and ServiceNow based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Rapid Application Development Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It provides attractive GUIs allowing professionally-styled applications without the need to know HTML, CSS, or JavaScript."
"It has many ready modules that can be used and developed."
"The solution is easy to handle. The tool has helped us develop many applications since it supports SQL and NoSQL languages. We are familiar with this language. Also, the solution’s interface design and database design are very easy. It is not so much complex. I have no experience working with other solutions."
"The most valuable applications within the organization are primarily data forms and extended reports."
"The most valuable features are security, stability, and ease of implementation."
"One of the most valuable features is the ability to build very fast data-driven UIs."
"I particularly enjoy the web builder capabilities, especially the Page Designer. It offers so many elements or components to choose from, which is a major plus for me."
"The virtual patching feature is valuable."
"HR Case Management and Customer Service Management are two of the key areas which clients are using."
"It is robust and very user-friendly."
"In the Service Portal, the widget concept - and the way we have developed our widget - is pretty simple. We can leverage a lot on top of it."
"I really like ServiceNow and all of the features. The way incident management is built is very helpful. You have a lot of options to optimize it, customize it, and automate it. You also have a lot of options for reporting. There are plenty of possibilities to do preference management within your customer CMDB file. These are very useful features, which I missed in BMC Remedy ITSM. ServiceNow is the best ticketing tool I have used so far."
"Great that it's knowledge-based and you can use the flows in ServiceNow."
"There are a lot of features within ServiceNow. There are plenty of add-ons that go beyond the typical core helpdesk operations, such as HR facilities, BRM functionality, and various compliance and governance capabilities."
"The pricing of the product is quite good. It's not too expensive."
"The most valuable feature is the flexibility of development for customization."
"Oracle is more of a database-oriented solution and is not very flexible in app development."
"Maybe there are other technologies that offer what APEX cannot."
"Apex has effectively incorporated new market trends into its features. The platform's user-friendly nature is notable, guiding developers through the development process. While advanced customization of the user interface with HTML and CSS is possible, the out-of-the-box options often suffice, providing 80-90% of the required functionality. The IDE is commendable, yet an enhancement in the Page Designer to allow a real-time preview of layout changes would be beneficial. Currently, running the page is necessary to visualize layout adjustments, but an immediate preview during the design phase would be a valuable improvement."
"Another issue I used to encounter was with the debugging functions. I believe this is an area where Oracle APEX could improve significantly in terms of displaying error messages or error pages. It is very difficult to detect bugs or which bugs you are having when it comes to errors or which errors you have."
"When exporting, we can't export dynamic reports, only static reports. For example, when we want to export charts or tables it is only exported as a static report so we can't drop down on these reports; however, we can see this information when we are on the dashboard itself."
"Oracle Application Express would be improved if you could use it on a mobile platform."
"During the upcoming versions, we can modify the current configuration."
"In terms of improvement, there should be a greater focus on AI and machine learning tools in Oracle APEX."
"The capital expenditure neeed to get the tool up and running is extensive."
"Their GUI could be updated."
"Where it could be improved is Discovery. This may sound odd since I just praised the value of ServiceNow Discovery, but improvements to its automatic detection, the breadth of devices, and the depth of devices covered, as well as keeping up with new technologies, are all essential."
"The licensing needs to be divided into tiers in order to attract lower-level users."
"It's moving at a very fast pace. It is difficult for developers or engineers to keep up with it. That's the only issue."
"It's a great platform, but there's still room for improvement. As the solutions stands now, you do need a lot of previous experience to use it. It would be great if they could develop some use case templates. This would be beneficial for a small and medium-sized businesses."
"The biggest complaint I have is that the ServiceNow search engine is not very robust."
"Integration capabilities can improve."
