We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It lets users add value with their time other than focusing on downloading Excel files, consolidating, and drawing up formulas. Since everything is structured, these easily are incorporated into the bot's work.""The best part about Automation Anywhere is the easy to use UI. It's very user-friendly. You have everything that you want in front of your eyes. You just have to drag and drop, then build your logic accordingly.""By using this, we are saving time and we no need to do routine work, as it is now automated and the result is shared with all of the end-users.""It saves a lot of effort and hours. It is time-efficient and cost-efficient.""They have a credential vault, which is 256-bit encrypted. That is the highest security that can be provided when it comes to credential maintenance. With a credential vault, other than the user who is entering the password, no one else knows what the password is.""By implementing the Automation Anywhere robot, we have reduced the FTE count and it was able to process 800 invoices per day with 100% accuracy.""Automation Anywhere receives high marks for its ease of use.""It is an easy product. It is easier and less complex than any other RPA tool in the market. It is a popular product."

"We have used it for the web and Windows-based applications. It is very productive in terms of execution.""With frequent releases, using automation to perform regression testing can save us huge amount of time and resources.""One advantage of Micro Focus UFT is that it is more compatible with SAP, Desktop ECC SAP, than S/4HANA.""The ease of record and playback as well as descriptive programming are the most valuable features of UFT (QTP).""On a scale of one to ten, I would give OpenText UFT One a 10 because it is a reliable product, it works, it's as good or better than similar solutions especially because you get technical support from real people. Additionally, upgrades are always provided on a consistent basis.""Micro Focus UFT One is a great tool and can be used in a variety of ways.""The stop automation is a great feature.""The inside object repository is nice. We can use that and learn it through the ALM connection. That's a good feature. The reporting and smart identification features are also excellent."

Cons
"Automation Anywhere is easy to use, even if you lack technical skills. People without deep technical expertise can easily develop scenarios.""One area for improvement in Automation Anywhere (AA) is its monitoring system. It's not that good. Both scalability and stability are also areas for improvement in the tool.""One of the important drawbacks of Automation Anywhere is that it needs to be able to show the automated process as a single flowchart.""It would be really good if they could give more priority to tickets which are raised by partners. Right now, Automation Anywhere customers and employees have higher priority.""Technical support needs to be worked on as the turnaround time can be around a week, even though we are just using the solution on a pilot basis. We are working in real-time with realistic data. While the process of a logging a ticket is good, the process from logging a ticket to closure needs faster support time.""New versions keep coming up. The challenge for us is to have the downtime to do the migrations. This could be improved upon. We would like fewer version changes and upgrades happening to the application. While the downtime is not that much, depending on the business processes, there are times few critical processes are running on a daily or hourly basis. We would expect the downtime to be even less for them.""Product support for our customers needs improvement. They should increase the support personnel.""Our users would like more online community forums where they can exchange information. I would also like a better way to monitor and manage all the automations we have running within our systems because our CoE governance must be robust so we are always aware of what's happening."

More Automation Anywhere (AA) Cons →

"Sometimes, the results' file size can be intense. I wish it was a little more compact.""One of the drawbacks is that mobile performance testing is in need of improvement.""Perhaps more coverage as far as different languages go. I'm talking more about object identification.""The product should evolve to be flexible so one can use any programming language such as Java and C#, and not just VB script.""The scripting language could be improved. They're currently using Visual Basic, but I think that people need something more advanced, like Python or Java.""You have to deal with issues such as the firewall and how can the tool talk with the application, i.e., if the application is on a company network and so on. That, of course, is important to figure out.""The overall design needs an entire overhaul. We prefer software designed to ensure the package isn't too loaded.""One area for improvement is its occasional slowness."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
  • "Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
  • "Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
  • "They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
  • "They give us a good deal on the licensing because we bundle and customize things. If you ask to get a bulk business deal, you will receive more benefit. If you take other products from the suite, like IQ Bot, you can also receive a deal on the licensing."
  • "We just did a round of price comparison on a global scale and found it's so hard to compare the license prices. But, Automation Anywhere, in general, is on the same price level as the other vendors, a bit lower in some cases."
  • "If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
  • "It's cheaper than other similar solutions."
  • More Automation Anywhere (AA) Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It took about five years to break even. UFT is costly."
  • "The licensing and pricing model is confusing."
  • "It's an expensive solution."
  • "For the price of five automation licenses, you simply would not be able to hire five manual testers for two years worth of 24/7 manual testing work on demand."
  • "The price is only $3,000. I don't know how many QA analysts you would have in any given company. Probably no more than five or 10. So if it's a large corporation, it can easily afford $15,000 to $25,000. I don't see that being an issue."
  • "The way the pricing model works is that you pay a whole boatload year one. Then, every year after, it is around half or less. Because instead of paying for the new product, you are just paying for the support and maintenance of it. That is probably one of the biggest things that I hear from most people, even at conferences, "Yeah, I would love to use UFT One, but we don't have a budget for it.""
  • "The pricing fee is good. If someone makes use of the solution once a day for a half hour then the fee will be more expensive. For continuous use and application of the solution to different use cases, the fee is average."
  • "The price is one aspect that could be improved."
