We performed a comparison between Sophos Cyberoam UTM and Sophos UTM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The product has helped control bandwidth utilization, as well as enhanced connectivity and security to remote locations."
"We consider the user level and control features of Sophos Cyberoam UTM to be the best."
"It is very easy to use."
"The firewall feature has different branches, such as extended firewalls."
"We are using it as a security shield. It does not allow access before that in case we have restricted a few things from users, so it helps me in that."
"The best feature is the flexibility the product offers, in terms of remote access. What we had before was a decentralized mechanism in our organization, but after having this product we were able to get the remote locations into the same LAN. We were able to control the bandwidth and were able to take virtual access of those machines and give them the support, as and when required."
"I find Sophos Cyberoam UTM very good. I like the feature of being able to block off Mac IDs that host users. For example, you have a Mac or Windows laptop and you created a hotspot. Other devices like mobiles and tablets e.g. iPads connected to that hotspot. We can block those devices that connected to the hotspot we created, only through Sophos. It's a good feature we didn't find in other UTMs."
"The most valuable features are the firewall section, the VPN, and how you control live users."
"It has made our organization more secure, because we are using a VPN. We are not accessing services directly. It allows us to segregate some of the traffic for individuals which may be more of a developer role rather than an operational role needing access to developer resources, but not necessarily production operational resources."
"The most valuable feature is ransomware protection."
"The packet filtering's great. You get out what you put into it. It works great as long as you know your security and configure everything adequately. If you just pop one in and it's not configured, then it's basically wide open. It kind of depends on the admin skill, but it's an excellent product."
"They are all good, but most-used are Network Protection and Web Filtering."
"I have no problem with the cost or licensing of this solution. This is a primary reason whay I wanted this solution. It does the same thing cheaper than other name brands."
"The most valuable feature of Sophos UTM is the efficiency and mail filtering module."
"The stability, overall, is excellent. I haven't had a problem in the last two years."
"It works well without any maintenance. So far, it has worked pretty well regardless of the traffic."
"The solution is at its end of life and some of the appliances are finishing."
"It is not a scalable product. This is because if you want to increase the capacity of the solution, then you have to change the device."
"The solution could be cheaper."
"Sophos Cyberoam UTM could improve by adding VPN site-to-site capabilities. The correct version does not work with Microsoft Azure Cloud."
"The documentation is not straightforward."
"Sometimes, users are timed out intermittently."
"The solution should improve its scalability because it cannot support enterprise networks."
"There are some issues with logs and report limitations."
"I would like this solution to support ICAP. Also, they no longer support on-premises management, and are forcing clients to use centralized management via the cloud, which I don't agree with."
"The solution's technical support for India needs to be improved."
"Initially, there were issues with the wireless network as wireless access points were disappearing from the dashboard after some time."
"The reporting system needs to allow for customizations because many reports do not include details that we expect."
"There's an issue that when we deploy UTM on fiber, it automatically upgrades to the latest version without giving an option to stay on the current one."
"In short, the UI and UX are the areas of improvement in Sophos UTM and similar solutions compared to Palo Alto."
"It would be nice if it had basic features, such as DLP (Data Loss Prevention)."
"Sophos UTM could be simplified, and they can improve on the many other features, like SD-WAN and load balancing. Sophos UTM is missing a few features that their competitors have. For example, if you have multiple branches you would like to connect, the load balancing features aren't available on multilink. If we create a VPM for multiple LAN links, we cannot load balance the traffic."
