We performed a comparison between Juniper SRX Series Firewall and Sophos Cyberoam UTM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are the ability to work in proxy mode, which other solutions, such as Palo Alto cannot. There are some features that are better that come at no extra license or subscriptions cost, such as basic SD-WAN. The DLT is useful, other solutions have the same feature too, such as Palo Alto."
"FortiGate SD-WAN facilitated a smooth transition for our customers between their two internet service providers, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity without any downtime."
"The solution is highly scalable because they have devices that can handle a large amount of traffic."
"FortiGate firewalls are easy to manage through a user-friendly web interface. They also have advanced features like DDoS and DLP. However, I wouldn't recommend enabling all of these features on one device because it can cause performance issues."
"The notable features that I have found most valuable are that it includes the antivirus, and also IPS, and even SD-WAN."
"We can detect any attack of viruses or malware at the first point of contact."
"Fortinet FortiGate is stable. It's used across all the countries, this is the way most multinationals run their system."
"You can create multiple Virtual Domains (VDOMs), which are treated as separate firewall instances."
"It helped us with its routing capabilities which eased the cost, because otherwise I would have had to take a router and firewall, and then integrate it. With this, however, it was an integration of firewall and routing services all together in a single product. That was one thing that I loved about it."
"The solution has proven to be quite stable."
"Performance is a strong point."
"On a scale from one to ten, one being the worst and ten being the best I'd give Juniper SRX an overall rating of eight because of its' competitive price."
"The product provides good performance and has features comparable to other leading products in the market."
"Juniper SRX is a very powerful firewall and sometimes can be used as a router."
"When compared to Palo Alto, Juniper is a better choice when it comes to the enterprise network and connectivity."
"The setup is pretty straightforward."
"We consider the user level and control features of Sophos Cyberoam UTM to be the best."
"Having a firewall solution with a data quota is very important when the bandwidth is limited, which really distinguishes it from other products."
"Web Filtering and Application Filtering saves a lot of my bandwidth and improves the user's productivity."
"The solution's web filtering is an important feature for us in our company."
"Sophos Cyberoam UTM is used for perimeter security, web filtering, intrusion prevention and as a VPN."
"I find Sophos Cyberoam UTM very good. I like the feature of being able to block off Mac IDs that host users. For example, you have a Mac or Windows laptop and you created a hotspot. Other devices like mobiles and tablets e.g. iPads connected to that hotspot. We can block those devices that connected to the hotspot we created, only through Sophos. It's a good feature we didn't find in other UTMs."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is a very strong product with good support."
"The security capabilities are okay."
"The way everything is set up could be easier. Currently, people need a lot of experience and knowledge to administer it and to link it to devices."
"The integration with third-party tools may be something that they should work on."
"They should improve high CPU and memory usage that occurs."
"With the reports, you can see it, and you can get good feelings so upper management can go, "Oh, wow. That looks pretty." However, it's very basic."
"Improvement is needed in the Web Filter quotas to restrict users with allocated quotas."
"There are SD-WAN network monitoring, SD-WAN features, Industrial Databases, Internet of Things, Detection, etc., however, we do have not licenses for those features. We thought that if you bought a product, you should have all of the features it offers. Why should you need to make so many extra purchases to enable features? They should have one price for the entire offering."
"I would like to see better pricing in the next release, as well as a simplification of the installation."
"There are some complex administration tasks in their administration portal. That needs to be improved."
"JTAC (Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center) is just okay for technical assistance. However, if you are used to Cisco TAC responsiveness, you will need to adjust your expectations with Juniper Networks TAC."
"I've noticed that the management interface could use some updates and upgrades."
"Both the web management and the graphical user interface are inadequate and should be improved."
"It would be good if Junos had "unique commands" between all hierarchical levels, discarding the use of the "Run" command."
"It would be ideal if the solution could use cloud services to help update signatures or threat prevention systems."
"The big thing is performance. With all the features turned on it slows down."
"The technical support has room for improvement."
"I think Juniper SRX should have a GUI. Some of the competitors are already implementing GUI for the firewall."
"It is not a scalable product. This is because if you want to increase the capacity of the solution, then you have to change the device."
"Sometimes, users are timed out intermittently."
"It should have better VPN protection. Some of the VPN applications are not blocked by this firewall. Some VPNs are able to get through this firewall, which is why I am planning to replace this firewall with a good one in the near future."
"The Traffic Discovery feature should allow administrators to disconnect unnecessary live connections."
"The product is at its end-of-life. There is nothing to improve as it will be discontinued."
"I don't know whether this will be included in an upgrade, but I would like to get the user utility, like seeing where the users are using more of the data."
"The VPN is an area that can be improved."
"I had an issue when I was trying to stop a user from using too much bandwidth while I was using Azure, I was not able to stop them."
