We performed a comparison between Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway and Fortinet FortiGate SWG based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is favored over Fortinet FortiGate SWG thanks to its extensive capabilities, such as enterprise DLP, sandboxing, and granular policies. Fortinet FortiGate SWG is stable and dependable, but lacks in web and DMC features, reporting capabilities, and network traceability. Customer service and support for Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway received mixed reviews, but its pricing is considered reasonable or average by some reviewers. Overall, Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway offers a strong sense of security and protection, resulting in a positive ROI.
"On the outside, the main differentiation is because Lookout ingest. They have ingested basically all of the apps for the last ten years and all the versions of all the apps, and we have that in a corporate database that allows us to do very large-scale machine learning and analysis on that data set. That's not something that any of the competitors really have the capability to do because they don't have access to the data set. A lot of the apps you can no longer get them because that version of the app is five or six years old, and it just doesn't exist anywhere anymore, except within our infrastructure. So, the ability to have that very rich dataset and learn from that dataset is a real differentiator."
"The most valuable features are the antivirus as a whole, the anti-malware, and all of the protection features that scan our enterprise devices."
"The solution is stable."
"The protection offered by the product is the most valuable feature. It detects vulnerabilities or traps on our users' phones and then prompts them to clean up their devices. Tools we used previously would only discover, which required us to gather information on the backend, so Lookout is a welcome upgrade."
"The Forcepoint client software can be downloaded on a user's machine so that it can filter the sites from home or the office. That's one of the biggest features. We can use it for filtering our laptops for our users at any place."
"Most valuable features are content filtering and monitoring."
"The spam filter is very effective."
"The policies are category-based, so knowledge of another content URL is not compulsory."
"Ability to send decrypted traffic to other security solutions for inspection."
"Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway has improved our organization through its ease of use."
"Giving visibility to people's actions in the network, while keeping attackers out: across data centers, offices, branches, and the cloud."
"Email Sandbox, DLP and Proxy."
"The product has the most valuable configuration, offloading, and security features."
"The solution is superior to Cisco in terms of security."
"Web filtering is the most useful feature."
"One of the features I appreciate the most is application control which offers great flexibility."
"The response from the technical support team has always been excellent."
"Customers keep on improving their licenses. The solution remains scalable and flexible. On-premises deployments may have some limitations. However, cloud deployments offer a high degree of flexibility."
"FortiGate is easy to use, and I also like its VPN."
"The overall features of Fortinet FortiGate SWG are good."
"We just submitted an enhancement request reflecting the main area we want to see improvement in; the APIs. Currently, we're able to build dashboards, but it's somewhat backward because we use our MDM API to create them. Lookout should provide API to customers so we can query our data and use it in our cloud, and this is the only outstanding area for improvement with the product right now."
"From the analysis that we've done, they do seem to be maybe a step behind in trying to enter the market with a new solution. But when they do pick up, they do come out with some good products."
"The stability depends on the service from where you access it. Because sometimes, the place you are in, you have Gateway. You don't have Gateway. The gateway is overutilized. At the end, you need to go through their gateways. And this is the key point here. You have a tracking point. If it's not well orchestrated, and it scales up as you add more to the existing team, you will suffer"
"Lookout was moving into the SSE space. And so their work on SecureWeb Gateway and SD-WAN is still sort of evolving."
"There should be more hardware models available and the application control could improve."
"The technical support team's response time could be improved."
"We are using a V10000 G3 appliance. It is just a proxy. It is just HTTP, FTP, and HTTPS. Now, as our website has developed and we are using rich time-connectivity protocols, the proxy doesn't have the ability to work with these protocols. It would be nice if the UDP feature was there for it to filter UDP traffic. It needs firewall capabilities for UDP filtering. Its upgrades can be quite complex, and they don't always go as per the plan. Its reporting could be a bit more granular."
"We have a lot of false positives, which is one area that can be improved."
"The initial setup can be complex."
"The automation lifecycle, integration, and export functionality could all be improved."
"We have had latency issues."
"An area for improvement would be the classification of websites - it can take a long time for new websites to be classified."
"We also have FortiAnalyzer deployed here, so we want to enable the soft functionality of FortiGate and built-in compression for a firewall VPN use case. We want the ability to deploy a gateway for HTTPS enabled on this firewall. It is currently only for use in our headquarters."
"I would like the deployment and integration of this product to be easier. We should be able to deploy the features more easily and have different types of access. It should be easier to integrate. Currently, we need to develop APIs to use this interface."
"Fortinet FortiGate SWG can be expensive for some customers."
"Fortinet FortiGate SWG's costs need improvement."
"Fortinet FortiGate SWG's SSL offloading features need improvement."
"It is complicated to manage different kinds of on-premise boxes."
"The graphical user interface of Fortinet FortiGate SWG is an area of concern where improvements are required."
