Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"This solution is good at utilizing standards rules for connectivity.""The licenses are transferrable between different users.""For me the most valuable feature is that it's one depository for our bank. So it's not like everybody has their critical processes on SharePoint or on their desktops. Everything is centrally located. It's very intuitive, easy to use. The support that I get from IBM is always great.""I like the two-tiered approach, that is, discover and then drill down to the main steps. You can right click and attach risk, policies, and much more. It is a user-friendly solution.""Collaboration is most valuable. You can collaborate online with many people. People can comment, and you can comment back. It is just like a social network, and that, for me, is very good.""We are you using the product as a process mapping tool and as part of a larger process improvement project. We use it with IBM BPM and IBM ODM. We get an automated workflow solution for our customers, an improved workflow automation.""It is a stable solution since there has not been any downtime. Everything loads fast.""The stability is pretty good. It is highly available, which is key. You don't lose your work and can autosave."

"Another good feature is that the numbering of the shapes in iGrafx is much easier and more convenient, in comparison to what is found in Visio. So far I haven't found anything similar to what I have with iGrafx, in that regard.""Simulation is most valuable.""Web diagramming and RACI have helped expedite the process, capture, and ownership initiatives of our organization.""It has simplified compliance with regulations and company standards.""This product fulfills ninety percent of our needs, and we're happy as users of it.""Finding the right symbol and creating links, horizontal and vertical are the features I use.""Provides a valuable BPMN feature.""iGrafx gives you the capability of documenting your process and then the ability to use it as a tool for analysis to identify the loopholes and shortcomings of your process."

Cons
"The initial setup is neither straightforward nor complex however you do need to know what you are doing.""The objects that the solution creates are not unique.""I would like to see integration with ERP systems. This would help us to simulate the process and see where the problems are. Though IBM Blueworks Live is a good tool for documenting, it is not good for simulating.""The solution is a very basic discovery product so it doesn't have that much modeling capability. This can be improved.""The user interface is quite easy at first but process analysts soon run into roadblocks of limited functionality, which is disappointing.""I can't insert any images. For example, within the process map, if I want to put it in the box or rectangle, or circle. If I have to use one image or icon, that's not possible.""I wish Blueworks Live had simulations built in, but it doesn't. It also lacks a feature of reporting; ad hoc, drag and drop reporting. A lot of senior people are always asking for reports, and there's no reporting feature within IBM Blueworks.""There should be an option to import from and export to Microsoft Visio. Being able to move files back and forth between Blueworks Live and Visio would be good."

More IBM Blueworks Live Cons →

"It would be helpful to be able to do more analytics and generate reports on historical documents that have already been uploaded to the server.""I would love to see a template and shapes for customer journey mapping.""With iGrafx, the implementation and the licensing were pretty complex.""Dragging and dropping shapes is not as user-friendly as in Visio. In Visio, it's very easy to work with shapes and in very few minutes you can plot a whole, multi swim-lane, cross-functional process.""The solution could benefit from improvements to its interface. More specifically, when compared to other tools, the process modeling features lack symbols or object types that are used to represent the information or data within the process.""The price could be more competitive.""It would be nice to have a Spanish user interface available to us.""The look and feel, along with the ease of use of the solution's web modeling version, is an area with certain shortcomings."
