We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The technical support is excellent.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""We can add some add-ons and plugins to the product if we need to.""The most valuable features of the Nutanix Kubernetes Engine (NKE) are its simplicity and efficiency during the initial cluster creation phase.""The solution is easy to manage. You can get everything in a single platform. It is also easy to work with Terraform as a code.""The product integrates well with our infrastructure.""We can do a lot of provisioning.""The solution is embedded in the hypervisor and there are no deployment costs."

"The most valuable feature of this solution is its scalability on demand, which allows for potentially lower costs, and Built-in resiliency.""The most valuable feature is that the solution can be deployed in the cloud which removes the expense of a server.""Technical support is good; they are fast and reliable.""Autoscaling is an excellent feature that makes it very simple to scale our applications as required.""The stack in the software supply chain is one of the main reasons that we use OpenShift. When I came to this company, we bought hardware from IBM named Bluemix, and they used ICP, which stands for IBM Cloud Private.""The initial setup process is easy.""On OpenShift, it's easy to scale applications. We can easily scale up or scale down.""The solution's security throughout the stack and the software supply chain is very reliable. When it was on-prem, it was by default secured by our company firewalls and security tools, and now it's in the cloud, which has its security and systems in place. This provides stability to our infrastructure."

Cons
"There have been challenges related to software bugs, especially regarding long-term licensing options and issues within our customer network.""In the next release, I would like to have automatic dynamic scaling, both upscaling and downscaling.""GUI lacks sufficient information to help with understanding the installation and process.""I have issues with the product's interoperability.""The product lacks some virtualization capabilities, making it an area for improvement where the solution can focus on providing users with more virtualization capabilities related to disk systems.""Areas for improvement in Nutanix Kubernetes Engine (NKE) include upgrading management capabilities and enhancing the user interface for improved usability.""I would like to have more nodes for availability and storage.""We need a backup of production clusters."

More Nutanix Kubernetes Engine NKE Cons →

"The solution does not work on a route-wise NFS.""OpenShift has certain restrictions in terms of managing the cluster when it's running on a public cloud. For example, identity and access management integration with the IM of AWS is quite difficult. It requires some open-source tools to integrate. This is one area where I always see room for improvement.""I want to see more incorporation of native automation features; then, we could write a code, deploy it directly to OpenShift, and allow it to take care of the automated process. Using this method, we could write one application and have elements copy/pasted to other applications in the development process.""The initial setup can be hard.""Things are there and the documentation is there, however, there still needs to be quick guides available.""We encounter difficulties while accessing the environment and managing the cluster. This particular area needs improvement.""Getting the solution quickly and troubleshooting quickly are both areas where I think it needs some work.""It has an option to install OpenShift without connecting it to the Internet. We tried this, but it was very hard. We couldn't manage to use that option. We wanted to use it offline for installations, updates, upgrades, etc., but we didn't find the offline installation and updates easy. This could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The product's licenses are included in the software version deployed in our data center."
  • "I rate the product price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
  • "I rate NKE's pricing a six out of ten."
  • "The platform is averagely priced. I rate the pricing as four out of ten."
  • More Nutanix Kubernetes Engine NKE Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "OpenShift with Red Hat support is pretty costly. We have done a comparison between AWS EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Services) which provides fully managed services from AWS. It's built on open-source-based Kubernetes clusters and it is much cheaper compared to Red Hat, but it is a little expensive compared to ECS provided by AWS."
  • "It depends on who you're talking to. For a large corporation, it is acceptable, other than the significant infrastructure requirements. For a small organization, it is in no way suitable, and we'd go for Amazon's container solution."
  • "The license to use the OpenShift Container Platform is free. If you are capable with Java you can modify it."
  • "The price is slightly on the higher side. It is something that can be worked on because most of the businesses now have margins."
  • "The pricing is a bit more expensive than expected."
  • "We paid for Cloud Pak for integration. It all depends on how many VMs or how many CPUs you are using. They do the licensing based on that."
  • "We currently have an annual license renewal."
  • "It largely depends on how much money they earn from the application being deployed; you don't normally deploy an app just for the purpose of having it. You must constantly look into your revenue and how much you spend every container, minute, or hour of how much it is working."
