We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of Microsoft 365 Defender are the combination of all the capabilities and centralized management.""We can use Defender to block and monitor for security purposes without needing multiple other products to do different tasks.""It's a very scalable tool that can be used in a very small environment or in a very large environment. Everything can be managed from a simple dashboard and can be scaled up or down depending on the customer's environment.""I like how Microsoft XDR and the other Microsoft products are integrated into a single unified security stack covering identity access management, endpoint protection, email, cloud applications, etc.""Setting up Microsoft 365 Defender is easy. It's a user-friendly solution that provides threat protection. It has good stability and scalability.""Having a single pane of glass for all Microsoft security services makes everything much easier. A security analyst can go to a single portal and see everything in one view. The integration of everything into one portal is a huge benefit.""In Microsoft 365 vendor products, monitoring and connectivity across all Microsoft and third-party connectors enable viewing of all activity within those environments.""The solution is well integrated with applications. It is easy to maintain and administer."

"The most valuable aspect, in any scenario, was the rollback feature.""The platform is user-friendly, easy to administer, and aligns well with GDPR requirements, which is crucial for us.""I like that SentinelOne doesn't use a lot of system resources or make the system slow. It also performs a full scan quickly—within two hours. It has an easy-to-use end-user GUI.""The ability to get queries by pressing the "tab" button is a plus for SentinelOne.""The solution offers excellent detection and integration capabilities.""The solution's in-place upgrades have been very helpful.""It uses AI technology so it can find known and unknown threats. It is stable and provides one of the best technical support.""The product can scale."

Cons
"365 Defender has multiple subsets, including Defender for Cloud Apps. When integrating Defender for Cloud Apps with apps on third-party cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, there are limitations on our ability to control user activities. If Microsoft added more control over third-party products, that would be a game-changer and help us quite a lot.""A simple dashboard without having to use MS Sentinel would be a welcome improvement.""The design of the user interface could use some work. Sometimes it's hard to find the exact information you need.""There should be better information for experts on features in the solution. What I see when reading about features in Microsoft 365 Defender is that it is always general information. If Microsoft could go deeper into details for the experts about how to use the tools, usage of it would be more familiar and it would be easier to use.""Correctly updated records are the most significant area for improvement. There have been times when we were notified of a required fix; we would carry out the fix and confirm it but still get the same notification a week later. This seems to be a delay in records being updated and leads to false reporting, which is something that needs to be fixed.""It would be beneficial to have a more seamless experience with everything consolidated in one place, particularly when dealing with aspects related to the Exchange console.""I would like more of the features in Defender for 365 to be included in the smaller licenses. Even if I buy a small license and don't need everything, security shouldn't be a question. Security is one of the main aspects of all projects from our side, so it would be nice to have more features in the smaller licenses.""The mobile app support for Android and iOS is difficult and needs improvement."

More Microsoft Defender XDR Cons →

"They could add “right click>scan” where most users were trained to do so in handling flash drives.""I would like to see category-based web filtering.""Having an additional logic layer could improve the solution, mainly because I run multiple systems with different layers. For example, if I'm running a very important server with this agent, and that server gets infected, I may not necessarily be sure that I want to shut it down right away. Maybe I want to isolate some of the connectivity but not do the entire security remediation automatedly or curtail network access type of activity.""SentinelOne Singularity Complete should focus on analytical data. Backend aggregation can make things faster in the front end.""SentinelOne could improve by creating an autopilot or automated way to roll out the solution more efficiently which would be helpful.""The delay in updating inventory is ten minutes. If it can be improved, it will help a lot.""The agent update is not the most intuitive process, but I understand why they do it. We have a pretty vertical 64-bit environment for Windows. That is pretty much all we have, but we get alerts for things like the new Linux endpoint or things that do not apply to us. That is probably the only thing that I do not like. There may be some way to turn that off so that I do not get endpoint update alerts from platforms that are not applicable to our system, enterprise, or network.""We have had one or two occasions when we had to roll back off our Windows machine. Then, we had an issue with SentinelOne where we couldn't let the client make contact with the cloud service anymore. Therefore, the integration with the Windows Service Recovery could be improved in the future."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solutions price is fair for what they offer."
  • "The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users."
  • "The price of the solution is high compared to others and we have lost some customers because of it."
  • "Microsoft is not competitive with the pricing of the solution. The competitors are able to offer lower discounts. The price of the solution is higher."
  • "We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue."
  • "The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change."
  • "Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible."
  • "They have moved from a licensing model to pay-per-use... The question is: What happens if, for any reason, there's not enough budget to accept this model? That could be a great problem."

  • "The price is competitive, if you compare it with other solutions on the market."
  • "Spend money on the security for the endpoint."
  • "The price for it is very competitive compared to other Next Gen EPP."
  • "The per-seat cost is low, but you have to commit to a certain number of licenses for a year."
  • "The larger count you have, the deeper discount you will receive in your contract."
  • "Our licensing fees are about $5 USD per endpoint, per month."
  • "USD$6 per end point which decreases as end points increase."
  • "Pricing is a bit of a pain point. That's where we have not been able to convince all of our customers to use SentinelOne. The pricing is still on the higher side. It's almost double the price, if not more, of a normal antivirus, such as NOD32, Kaspersky, or Symantec."
