Great documentation, good filtering, and very reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "The integration potential is excellent."
  • "The pricing can be a little bit less."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution in the banking sector.

How has it helped my organization?

We use the solution for most of the integration. We have it and system integration with different systems.

What is most valuable?

The integration potential is excellent.

It has a very good database.

There is no complexity during the initial setup.

The solution is scalable.

The stability is great.

We have found the documentation to be excellent.

It has very good filters available.

What needs improvement?

The pricing can be a little bit less. Sometimes the price scare off potential users.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for the last six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We are not using the latest version of the solution. We are using the older version. That said, it is stable. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. It is reliable.

If a person understands the solution, it'll be very easy for them to handle it. However, if someone who doesn't know it, for example, tries to debug it, will find it confusing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scaling is very good in comparison to other solutions. If a company needs to scale it, it's not a problem to do so.

There are likely millions of people using the product. We use it in the banking sector and have many users all the time.

How are customer service and support?

I've never used technical support. I've figured out most things on my own using their very good documentation.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is very easy to set up. It's not overly complex or difficult.

If a company already has a DevOps pipeline, it won't take long to deploy everything.

No one is needed for maintenance really. A developer can do it if the DevOps pipeline is already decided.

What about the implementation team?

We had our own technical team that managed the implementation process.

What was our ROI?

There is an ROI when people use the solution. I can't speak to the exact pricing.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing and licensing can be a little bit expensive.

What other advice do I have?

We have a partnership with Mulesoft. We are working with various versions of the solution.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. We've been very happy with the product overall.

A pretty good product that can be used from a small project to a large project
Pros and Cons
  • "Overall, it is a pretty good product. It is also very scalable."
  • "Its documentation needed a little bit of work to make it more usable. It is a platform that is used mainly by developers and other people for connecting systems. Its documentation was confusing in some areas and was not very helpful in other areas. I had to go to a consultant to get some work done, which ideally shouldn't be required."

What is our primary use case?

I used it in my previous company. We were using it to build a middleware layer to connect a lot of systems together. Oracle and Salesforce were the two primary systems that were being done. We were building it out so that we could hook in any of the ERP systems that we had at that company. So, the use case was to be able to connect systems and do process integration across multiple ERP systems.

What is most valuable?

Overall, it is a pretty good product. It is also very scalable.

What needs improvement?

Its documentation needed a little bit of work to make it more usable. It is a platform that is used mainly by developers and other people for connecting systems. Its documentation was confusing in some areas and was not very helpful in other areas. I had to go to a consultant to get some work done, which ideally shouldn't be required.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable. It can be used from a small project to a large project.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Mule Anypoint Platform an eight out of ten.

Constantly improving and highly scalable solution with a good interface
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is quite easy because the solution has a good interface through which the configuration, mapping, and so on can be done."
  • "Adding connectors for new upcoming applications would add extra value to this product."

What is our primary use case?

My main use of this solution is for integration of different applications.

What needs improvement?

Adding connectors for new upcoming applications would add extra value to this product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for the last six or seven years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This product is highly scalable because it's all purely cloud-based.

How are customer service and support?

I'm pretty satisfied with the technical support - there are delays sometimes, but whenever they give a solution, it's good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is quite easy because the solution has a good interface through which the configuration, mapping, and so on can be done. The initial DevOps setting up takes some time, but once that's done, it's easily manageable.

What about the implementation team?

We use an in-house team for implementation.

What other advice do I have?

MuleSoft improves this product with every release, and since we're in a country that receives quarterly releases, any issues or improvements have usually already been dealt with. Any company that wants to implement this solution needs to have at least minimum enterprise-level applications to be integrated - only then can they make maximum use of their software. I would give this solution a rating of nine out of ten.

Reliable, good support system, and integrates well
Pros and Cons
  • "Mule Anypoint Platform is our preferred platform for integration."
  • "Mule Anypoint Platform could improve by having more up-to-date adapters to do work in a digital space."

What is our primary use case?

We use the Mule Anypoint Platform for various integrations as a platform.

What is most valuable?

Mule Anypoint Platform is our preferred platform for integration.

What needs improvement?

Mule Anypoint Platform could improve by having more up-to-date adapters to do work in a digital space.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Mule Anypoint Platform for approximately one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

When there is a high velocity the solution could improve the scalability.

How are customer service and support?

We have a good support system with the Mule Anypoint Platform technical team. We have a dedicated support contact that works very hard.

How was the initial setup?

The integration could be made easier. Integration strategy is very important, it is not a one size fits all process.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others. Having good architecture is important.

We are satisfied with the solution.

I rate Mule Anypoint Platform an eight out of ten.

Great API tool kit and pretty stable but is complex to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "The API toolkit is the solution's most valuable aspect at this time, for our organization."
  • "The terms of use and how it's priced has become very difficult to manage, which is forcing us to look for alternatives already - and we haven't even been using it for that long just yet."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution to connect multiple enterprise applications across multiple clouds.

What is most valuable?

The API toolkit is the solution's most valuable aspect at this time, for our organization.

What needs improvement?

I don't know if there are any real pain points per se.

The terms of use and how it's priced has become very difficult to manage, which is forcing us to look for alternatives already - and we haven't even been using it for that long just yet.

The initial setup is rather complex.

There should be more templates associated with a standard to large ERP. There are 18 interfaces required between HighJump to SAP, our warehouse management system. Those templates are standard. Everybody that has HighJump and that has SAP would have to do those 18 interfaces and they should be in a template - yet those templates don't exist. Due to that, there's too much API building from scratch. They should be able to build an API library.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using this solution for the last five months. It hasn't been very long just yet.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't used the solution for too long. That said, it seems stable. It is early to make that determination as we've only been using it for about five months. However, there haven't been any bugs or glitches and it doesn't seem to crash or freeze at all.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Since we haven't yet used the solution for a long time, we haven't tried to scale it. We don't see any scaling limits at this point, however, there could be. We'll see when we expand it across our three SAP instances.

How many people actually use the product is hard to gauge. An API is being used with people not even knowing it. In essence, the entire organization is using APIs that tie our applications together. I'd say working with it, touching it, there are probably six employees on it.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support has been okay. There's room for a bit of improvement. They could be more standardized. The level of service seems to depend on who you get.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not simple or straightforward. It's actually pretty complex to implement.

The deployment itself took about two months.

What about the implementation team?

We used an integrator that helped us with the initial part of the setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We can't discuss pricing at this time as we are under an NDA.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated lots of options. Now, due to the economics of the solution, we are back to evaluating solutions again. We are looking to see if we can switch to something else.

What other advice do I have?

We're just a customer. We don't have a business relationship with the company.

I'm not sure of which version of the solution we are using right now.

I'd recommend this solution to others. However, I'd advise that they be careful of the licensing terms. They're so convoluted. There are many hidden costs in the use of the product and you may not realize what it will actually cost until it's too late.

Overall, I would rate the solution at a seven out of ten.

Easy platform to work with and scales well vertically
Pros and Cons
  • "This is the easiest and best tool available."
  • "Mule should have better B2B integration."

What is our primary use case?

I've been developing Mule applications and have been using Anypoint Studio for development purposes. I have a Mule Anypoint Studio for the certification to test knowledge of the Anypoint Platform in the cloud. I've never been in a live situation for deployment within the cloud.

We use Mule for daily activities like for domains like retail, eCommerce and the wholesale department. So most of the daily basic integration, ETL jobs when we have eCommerce, they do it in the USA. There are different time zones. In the Belgian system, you begin getting the insights using or doing analysis on the data. It enables us to have real-time integrations. Data flows from different domains as well as ETL jobs and for real-time integration.

There were too many stores to make and to work on one platform, so this was the main purpose of use. There were different texts coming in and other things in the stores. They had to scan them and when they passed this information to other domains, like eCommerce, for example. All these jobs were running at a specific time.

What is most valuable?

Rapid API development using RAML, with contract first approach. It is easy to visualize real time mocking service and making it available in portal for end users, during requirements phase.

What needs improvement?

In terms of improvement, customer support is a bit slow. I emailed the sales team for a pricing comparison, still no response. The developer community is far more generous on the other hand. Pricing model is very expensive, Mule should consider Pay as You go model. It will help on-boarding new clients in Asia region.

Mule should have better B2B integration. Mule supports the idea of API Led Architecture and system of records approach. When it comes to broad perspectives such as B2B, competitive tools have better EIPs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Mule Anypoint for a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I was recently researching the cost of scalability purposes in the cloud. For vertical scaling, it's good but the horizontal scaling along with the enterprise is not very good. Horizontal scaling is good in the on-prem system. But I think this is a limitation in all the cloud services providers. That's why the hybrid version is the buzzword nowadays, but for horizontal scalability, the on-prem servers are more flexible and in your control.

How are customer service and technical support?

Instead of reaching out to customer support, I generally reach out to the Mule community. My peers will answer my questions.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used an open source tool. Red Hat Fuse. Switching from different tools and technologies depends on the project in hand.

How was the initial setup?

From a developer perspective initial setup is quite easy. From an executive  perspective, it is difficult.

What other advice do I have?

The pricing is a bit high for clients. As a developer, and my superiors and architects agree, that this is the easiest tool to use. I've worked with two configuration technologies, one was open-source and there is a huge difference with this. This is the easiest and best tool available. Mule should consider lowering the price.

The should make improvements for B2B enterprises

I would rate it an eight out of ten as it's a very good product.

Increases productivity, speeds up integration, and helps with effective re-authentication
Pros and Cons
  • "It has improved our organization a lot because of the increase in productivity, and it has simplified the development of products. MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is a highly effective tool where you can build integrations so effectively. If you establish the integration platform, it increases productivity. It helps us to do effective re-authentication, and it speeds the integration."
  • "What I hear from my customers is that it's very expensive compared to the cost of other integration suites. The cost keeps increasing. MuleSoft should come up with customization factors by using a different way of getting the cost-related stuff to attract customers. That is, they should come up with some cost optimizations."

What is our primary use case?

Our customers have a transformation center, and all their existing enterprise applications have to integrate to it. For example, SAP, Salesforce, and some SFTP integrations. We are doing all of these integrations with the Anypoint Platform.

How has it helped my organization?

It has improved our organization a lot because of the increase in productivity, and it has simplified the development of products. MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is a highly effective tool where you can build integrations so effectively. If you establish the integration platform, it increases productivity. It helps us to do effective re-authentication, and it speeds the integration.

What is most valuable?

I like the cloud-based integration. Product wise, it has all the connectors and all the required applications.

What needs improvement?

What I hear from my customers is that it's very expensive compared to the cost of other integration suites. The cost keeps increasing. MuleSoft should come up with customization factors by using a different way of getting the cost-related stuff to attract customers. That is, they should come up with some cost optimizations.

In the next release, I would like to see deployment automations.

I would also like MuleSoft to come up with a central platform because with on-premises and hybrid environments, where some are cloud-based applications and others are on premises applications, a DPC setup has to be done. It would be good if they can implement one centralized user interface that provides all of the facilities.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using it for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Compared to the previous version, this version is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is quite scalable. MuleSoft Anypoint Platform has elastic scaling capabilities, where you can increase the number of instances. Suppose you have a higher number of requests coming in from the source. This solution has the capability to scale up the application and scale up the instances of the processes to actually capture the number of requests as well.

We have IT leads, developers, and architects using this solution in our company, totaling 10 people. We use it for around 200 customers around the world as well.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used TIBCO and webMethods, but they are not as effective at cloud-based integration as MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very simple, and I would give it a four out of five.

It took about five to ten minutes to deploy the solution.

What about the implementation team?

We did it in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is core-based. My customers tell me that it's very expensive compared to the cost of other integration suites.

What other advice do I have?

You have to look at how it affects your integrations and how you are going to add value to the business once you've implemented it. Suppose you are doing integrations from two to three applications, and they're charging more for that purchase. Then, it won't be so effective for you down the line, like in two or three years. If that's the case, I won't prefer to go for MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. However, if by doing this integration it would actually increase productivity, increase the flexibility for future integration needs, and improve the return on investment, then MuleSoft Anypoint Platform is a good choice.

I recommend this solution, and on a scale from one to ten, I would rate it at eight.
