Good support, solid performance, and scales according to our needs
Pros and Cons
    • "There are only a few standard reports available and if you want more then they either have to be downloaded or built."

What is our primary use case?

We are a service provider and we use SAP Business One for most of our clients.

The basic modules that we use are for financials, inventory, account receivables, accounts payable, and human resources.

    What is most valuable?

The vendor has a very good roadmap for the product.

    What needs improvement?

We would like to see more options in terms of the product module. It requires more details for production because it is very basic.

There are only a few standard reports available and if you want more then they either have to be downloaded or built. Having more standard reports available would be an improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One for between 10 and 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Over the past ten years, we have found SAP Business One to be a very solid product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution and we currently have between 80 and 90 users.

How are customer service and support?

In cases where we face problems, we directly connect with our partners. There is a service portal and product support is very good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another similar product before this one.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and it takes a couple of days to deploy.

    What about the implementation team?

Our in-house team is in charge of implementation, deployment, and maintenance. Two staff are required for deployment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We are currently working towards implementing the cloud-based, AWS, or Azure model.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a good product and I recommend it. At the same time, I would like to see improvements made to the reporting. Having more reports and better reporting options would earn it a perfect rating.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Pros and Cons
    • "The relationship map is very useful for us."
    • "Security could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution to have the information in real time. We are working on financial reports now. The solution is on-premises right now, but we will move to the cloud after the implementation.

We moved from SAP CRM to SAP Business One and we are implementing it. We started to implement it twice and put the old stuff in the ERP, like all of the documents, and invoicing, including CRM. Right now CRM is 90% working.

    What is most valuable?

The relationship map is very useful for us. We can move one document to another level and have all of that information in one click.

We can see everything connected with the document or that might be in that document.

    What needs improvement?

Security could be improved. A few days ago, we learned that this model of Java has some gaps in security and these gaps were updated and covered. We have reloaded a new version of the program, which has this gap excluded.

We have a lot of users working in this ERP, so connection is very important. It's important to have very strong security connections by VP or others. We started implementing on-premises and we are moving to the cloud.

The standard solutions and reports are okay, but configuring it is too hard to do. We are in this period that maybe helps us to do this work right now. The procedure will be developed in the right way and we will have the optimal method and technical uses for the operation in this CRM. Opportunities and sales orders are included in this CRM.

We have a list to develop this solution. We have information from the last historical period and adapted this information to the new ERP. We're invoicing right now, only in SAP. We haven't done the final procedure to the financial report, to the logistical report, to the warehouse, and so on. We need more reports for the warehouse, for personnel, and the HR module is missing in SAP Business One.

It is useful because all companies have the payroll outside from their outsourcing companies. We also have that, but it is better to have all of that in the ERP.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for 15 months. We are on version 10.2.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable, but they are ready to improve our requirements. We are working very closely with consultants from SAP partners.

We have about 25 users. We have plans to increase usage because we have a new employee in sales. It is in our budget and forecast for hires and so on. For now, we have covered all positions for users.

How are customer service and support?

We haven't worked directly with SAP's technical support, but we have support from the company which helped us implement the solution. I am satisfied with their work because they respond very quickly. If we have questions or technical problems, or a new user, they are very timely.

    How was the initial setup?

Setup has been okay for us because we have been modulating with other partners and other customers.

    What about the implementation team?

Implementation was done by another company. They are gold partners of SAP.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is a bit expensive. They were planning implementation to only take nine or ten months, but because it was longer, the cost was also increased.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 8 out of 10.

My advice is that we need to have the project manager from the customer, like where I implement this ERP or another one. It's important to make a very real picture of the informational flow, and the organizational structure, and all kinds of documents that we wanted to have in this ERP, in real time and after the closing period. There needs to be some report to follow up with these reports to verify all the information.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

Good licensing model, simple, and stable, but not suitable for large enterprises
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is quite simple, and it is suitable for medium and small businesses."
    • "Our company is expanding to different countries, and business is growing. We feel that it is not good enough for the huge volume of the business. On-premises setup is not good enough for the overseas office. We have our onsite premises in Hong Kong, but we have a major sales office in the US. We are looking for a more efficient setup to fulfill our requirements and needs. It can have portals for vendors, suppliers, and customers. I know that they have this feature in version 10, but it still has space to improve."

    What is most valuable?

It is quite simple, and it is suitable for medium and small businesses.

    What needs improvement?

Our company is expanding to different countries, and business is growing.

I know that they have this feature in version 10, but it still has space to improve.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. There are some limitations, but they are there because we are using quite an old version. We are using version 9.2, which is no longer supported by the SAP. When we have to find any issue or any bug, it is not easy to find a way to resolve it. This is not really a product issue.

How are customer service and technical support?

We get support from a local service provider. They also did the implementation of this solution. We have a good relationship with them for the enhancements on the software in the offices.

    How was the initial setup?

Its initial setup is simple. It was not done by me, but I know that it is not so complicated to set up.

    What about the implementation team?

We have a consultant firm that helps us with the setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Its licensing model is good. There is a one-off payment for the software license, and after that, you only need to pay the annual maintenance fee. Compared to other cloud-based systems, this cost model is quite reasonable for SMEs.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution depending on the nature and the size of the business. For SMEs with a simple business model, SAP Business One is good enough to meet their needs, but for big enterprises, SAP ECC would be more suitable.

I would rate SAP Business One a seven out of ten.

    What about the implementation team?

    I did it myself.

What other advice do I have?

    Pros and Cons
    • "The document search feature is very good."
    • "The ability to link documents to accounts, partners and events via the Golden/Yellow Arrow feature is very useful."
    • "The user interface could be improved with drag-and-drop functionality that it currently lacks."

What is our primary use case?

I am a partner for SAP Business One and I have implemented more than 30 customers. My primary use is as a reseller. The customer's primary use varies but the product is primarily used in the automation of business functions. The specific use depends on the customer's needs.

    What is most valuable?

The features that are most valuable will vary depending on the client. Turkey is a multi-currency country. Although we have Turkish Lira as our own currency, most of the trade is going on with Euro or US dollars because of the high inflation rate or because the unit pricing is in Euros or United States dollars. But Business One can handle this multi-currency situation very well. The financial model is good, so the financial piece is a nice feature for our users in Turkey at least.

The searching of documents is also a very good feature that most of my customers like. With it, they can find documents that they are looking for very easily. Also, there is a Yellow Arrow (i.e., Golden Arrow) linking feature to establish connections between the documents and accounts, the business partners, or events. The clients appreciate this feature for simplifying document management.

These two features are the ones that first came to my mind as being most mentioned by clients.

    What needs improvement?

This product could be improved the most in the user interfaces. Most of the new generation users are looking for drag-and-drop functionality, which SAP does not have. Also the SAP WEB Browser access is limited to some functionalities. It would be better if a higher portion of the software is compatible with web browser.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One for five years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I think that Business One is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is good. It is really easy to add new users or new departments or new branches. I have gone up to 220 users without any problems. So, I think it is good at scalability in increasing the number of users.

Our customers range is broad from the smallest to the largest of our clients. But even if the number of users in a company is small — like, for example, 20 or 25 users — I also have customers who are some of the largest 500 companies in Turkey. These companies are not creating millions of transactions. But if you look at the revenue, then all of the clients — from the smallest that we service — are larger financially than the typical small and medium-sized enterprises.

How are customer service and technical support?

Our technical support representative is located in Hungary and he is the perfect man for providing support. On the other hand, I know that my friends in Italy have suffered from having poor technical support. So, from what I know, I can say that the quality of support is dependent on the support team and employee you are working with.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have worked with different solutions. The one I worked with the most was Netsys and that was for about 10 years. Netsys is a local ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple. It usually takes only a day or so.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think the price of Business One is reasonable considering the functionality.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

As a reseller, we evaluate various solutions. In the medium to large companies, we mostly shortlist SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business One. The clients try to decide between S/4HANA and SAP Business One. This causes some confusion sometimes because there is a huge price difference between the two products. Of course, there are big differences in functionality. The question becomes whether the functionality of SAP Business One is enough for the customer's needs or not. I try to help them in making these decisions by providing clues about how the products differ and how they could fill the customer's needs.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to people considering this tool has to do with how to use it. The result is definitely very important and often people focus on that. But if you score a successful project out of 100%, a good software may be only 40% of that. Another 40% is the team of implementers, and their knowledge and experience. This is very important. The remaining 20% is the customer. You have to know if the customer ready for this kind of project. You have to know if the customer knows what he wants to have after this project is complete. Sometimes the customer does not know what he is looking for. In that case, the project can never get finished. Yes, it is important to have a good software, but it is also important to have a good team doing the project and also have a very good understanding of the project from the customer side. All of these things together are very important.

On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Business One as an eight-out-of-ten. The additional features I would like to see to make it score higher is increased functionality supported for web browser access and more user-friendly forms and UI templates.

    What about the implementation team?

SAP Business One is a cost-effective solution. The price is good and we pay for a subscription annually.

What other advice do I have?
