We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is very good for managing the timeline. I'm a quality manager, and I have different testing projects running with different work breakdown structures. Asana makes it very easy to implement and monitor the plans. It is easy to move the tasks and complete them, break them down, and assign them to people.""It is pretty comprehensive when it comes to the different views that it gives you. It gives you a Gantt chart view, calendar view, board view, and list view. It is kind of helpful to have different types of views and see how it views your different tasks. I appreciate being able to do that. The biggest thing is that it is extremely user friendly. Asana is pretty intuitive. Someone who is not tech-savvy can kind of catch on quickly. It is better than other tools like Smartsheet. Some of the other tools like Microsoft Project and Excel are great tools, but you have to invest a lot of time to learn them, which is not the case with Asana.""I really enjoy the portfolios in Asana. One of the ways Asana stands out to me is with portfolios. You can have all your different projects, and you can have those assigned to different teams. If you want to customize a grouping of projects, you can use portfolios. For instance, one of the things that we do is we can assign a portfolio to a specific strategic objective we have, and we can put all those projects that are related to that strategic objective in that portfolio. We then know exactly what people are working on to help us achieve our goals. So, I really like portfolios.""It is stable and easy to set up.""The ability to share projects and tasks among team members appears to be the most valuable feature.""It's an easy way to communicate.""The most valuable feature of the solution is its project management tracking systems.""Asana has significantly reduced the number of emails we exchange because we can access the project directly. It organizes all the tasks related to each project, assigns them to staff with due dates, and tracks progress."

"We use many of this solution's features for communication and for process automation. It offers more functionality than a regular CRM.""I am impressed with the solution's ability to customize workflows.""The product is user-friendly.""Offers, a free version.""Bitrix24's workflow is better than that of others. The user interface is also good.""The data interpretation feature in Bitrix24 is good.""We are considering Bitrix24 as an office automation solution for our workplace productivity-related issues, project management activities, and staff tracking.""The solution's most valuable feature is its project management functionality...It is a pretty stable solution."

Cons
"On the development side for technical project management, Asana is missing features. We only use it for discussing tasks and strategies, and we use it for customer to-do lists. It doesn't have the source code integration that Jira and Jira Service Desk both have.""The product's page is not user-friendly.""Some updates are outdated, and their functionalities can affect the end outcomes.""It would be beneficial if Asana had a predecessor feature that automatically adjusts all subsequent dates when changes are made to a timeline. For example, if I assign a designer four hours for one task and two days for another, and the completion of a task takes longer than anticipated, it would be convenient if updating one date could prompt the adjustment of all other relevant dates. Essentially, this feature would streamline the process and eliminate the need for manual adjustments.""There just needs to be a bit more direction on how to use it at the outset.""There could be some improvements in terms of how projects or day-to-day work is organized. One of the challenges when it comes to rolling out to an enterprise is the way the projects are organized. It has a kind of setup where you have different projects and tasks, but it is not as organized as Smartsheet when it comes to organizing projects or different teams. It can get really cluttered really fast. JIRA has another suite to submit the support tickets. It would be good if Asana could branch out to incorporate some kind of workflow. It is great for collaboration and recording work, but there isn't any workflow. It would be useful if they can map out a workflow of who approves what. This is kind of a big ask, and it is not geared towards that.""The inbox feature can be a little overwhelming if you are working with Asana just from its project boards and only checking it periodically.""We tried, but we haven't been successful with it. If people don't have the training, it is not easy to use. You need to make sure that the people are trained to use the system. They can provide more resources in the form of webcasts and videos that people can use to train themselves and understand how to use it."

More Asana Cons →

"The solution’s performance could be made faster.""The client interface is not very user-friendly.""This solution was built using old technology which is now mixed with new technologies. This can make it challenging to get new features live.""Some functionalities of the tool required specific expertise. For example, the SIP Connector is difficult to install.""Bitrix24’s interface needs to be improved.""The stability could be improved.""In my opinion, everything needs improvement. It all starts with the user experience. It's extremely difficult to use, it's always lagging, It doesn't look particularly appealing, in terms of how it looks, and it is extremely difficult to locate the stages.""The solution's open channel and contact center could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The price of this solution makes it quite accessible, and the plans fit my budget."
  • "Asana has two different types of structures: company vs workspace. Company is really best if all the users you plan to assign work to are all internal (have the same corporate domain in their user ID email address). Once one person signs up (even for a free account) with a corporate email address, Asana will automatically relate that person to that company, if it already exists. If you plan to use it for external collaboration as well as internal, then creating a workspace is a better approach."
  • "It has a free version."
  • "There is a free version of Asana, but we use the paid version to receive all the features we want. The overall price is reasonable."
  • "Its price is fair. Its licensing cost is cheaper than Microsoft Project. I would rate it a two out of five in terms of pricing."
  • "For what it brings to the table, I think Asana is fairly affordable. I would like to see the portfolio feature in our pricing plan, but other than that, it's definitely pretty good."
  • "We're on the business tier, which is $25 a month if you're on an annual contract. It's $31 if you're on a month-to-month contract. In my experience, there are no hidden costs with Asana. I know Smartsheet has these add-ons that you can buy, which is an additional cost, but Asana doesn't have any add-ons that I know of. When you're trying to scale the product and want to add users, you have to do it in buckets of five. This is also something to consider."
  • "This solution is reasonably priced."

  • "The pricing for this program is reasonable."
  • "We were using the free version which was really limited in terms of functionality."
  • "Licenses are cheap compared to other solutions."
  • "The cost is $2,500, which will be spread out over 18 to 24 months."
  • "Bitrix24 is a cheap tool. I think our costs are somewhere between $1,000 and $5,000 per month. There are no additional costs with it. We did put in some hours to clean up some project-related stuff in it, but it was not much."
  • "Price-wise, it is a very cheap solution."
  • "Bitrix24 offers an open-source option for small companies, but you can order a bigger range of services on a monthly or yearly contract."
  • "The product's pricing is okay for me. It is not expensive."

    Overview

Asana is web-based software-as-a-service that helps teams coordinate and manage their work. It helps companies move faster by making sure everyone knows the team’s plan and process and who is doing what by when.

Each user can create projects using a list, board, calendar, or timeline view. Within each project, users can add tasks, subtasks, sections, comments, attachments, start and due dates, and custom fields. Project and task followers get notifications on changes or comments on the project and/or task in their Inbox. Individual users can see all of the tasks they're responsible for across all of their projects in a view called My Tasks.

Asana is available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.
