We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"With Binary Defense, we don't just get an alert, but also a detailed rundown of why they're alerting us on it. They tell us what was executed, or the username, script, or IP. That way, we're not wasting time investigating.""The biggest aspect for us is that they are able to conform to our environment and utilize our tools. That way, we still maintain ownership of all the data and access to the applications, and we never lose control of the ability to run the solution ourselves if we need to.""The case interface is Binary Defense MDR's most valuable feature.""The best part about Binary Defense MDR is that it runs on everything, and they keep an eye on things 24/7.""The most valuable part of Binary Defense is its team of cybersecurity analysts. Their analysts filter out the noise and only forward the critical threats that require a response instead of false positives.""The most valuable features are the SIEM and the ticketing function; the latter is very smooth and easy to read and understand. We don't have any issues looking at the ticketing information when we're trying to identify what's going on.""The customization has been the most valuable aspect and was really the reason we ended up selecting Binary Defense. They worked with us to provide exactly the level of support, features, response, and collaboration we needed.""Among the valuable features are the agent, continuous reporting, and dashboard. It has all the features we need and we haven't had to customize it, other than turning on certain features that we wanted."

"What's most valuable about CrowdStrike Falcon Complete as an endpoint security solution is that it provides different features against malware outbreaks. The solution is also cloud-based so it offers flexibility in terms of managing it. It's also easy to deploy the agent and you can deploy it through CrowdStrike, your CloudStrike console, or you can take that agent out and you can use different solutions to deploy it through your group policy, your SSCM, or any asset management tool.""The threat intelligence of CrowdStrike Falcon is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon Complete is the overall endpoint protection.""Overwatch is the most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon Complete.""As an end-point solution, nothing beats it, to be honest.""The AI and the group knowledge base that they get from having multiple clients in the cloud is very useful to us.""The most valuable feature of Falcon Complete is that it is a full security operations center (SOC) as well as a SIEM solution, and it is fully managed. Their security teams are working 24/7 and analyzing everything happening on all endpoints. They also take care of the instant response, which includes disconnecting endpoints, taking over the endpoints and fixing them, and ransomware protection. All of these things are most valuable because it is very difficult to get all the resources in-house to do all of that yourself. So, if you can leverage the experience of a global corporation with the best reputation in the market, and it is fully managed, that's the best.""The features I have found valuable are artificial intelligence, which protects us against malicious forces of any kind, and device control through the remote execution tool."

"Covalence's cloud protection element has been excellent. A lot of organizations are using 365. It's hard to find a secure solution for protecting accounts. We've gone down the path of trying to utilize other security solutions for that particular area. We've been disappointed and always come back to trying to implement Covalence when we can so we know people are safe.""The most valuable aspect of Field Effect Covalence is its ability to continuously monitor for and identify potential threats.""It is very user-friendly. We have regular reports to see what is going on.""It's running in the background and does a packet-level analysis of everything that comes in. It also has an auto-response feature, so if something gets through and is clicked on, or somehow gets through the network, it gets isolated and quarantined, and we get notified.""The most valuable feature is the network traffic monitoring function.""I appreciate the "set it and forget it" nature of Field Effect Covalence.""The ARO alerts are helpful to use almost daily to get a sense of what actions we need to take to expedite security measures.""The solution's advanced detection behaviors, automated notifications and responses, and automated remediation behaviors are valuable features."

Cons
"It's sometimes difficult to know when to engage Binary Defense or TrustedSec, their sister company. TrustedSec is more focused on offensive security, as opposed to the defensive security that the MDR solution provides. It would be awesome if there were a better bridge between that relationship for when we need to get more proactive services or when we need to do a penetration test.""The only area I see for improvement with Binary Defense is their service portal. It could benefit from some enhancements.""We should be able to isolate devices faster. They should shorten the time between clicking on a device to contain it and carrying out the action. That would be a welcome improvement.""I would like to see more frequent check-ins with our security status.""We found a couple of bugs in the user interface.""It's hard to think of anything that they need to improve on, but just to point out something, I would like to see them provide advanced XDR.""I would like to get more reports from Binary Defense about what they're blocking.""If I were shopping for an MDR solution today, I would not only look for a company that has the ability to alert, detect, and remediate, but also the ability to integrate vulnerability management. That's a big thing that they're lacking today."

More Binary Defense MDR Cons →

"Falcon could use more SIEM capabilities, like a central place to monitor all our clients.""They need to continuously integrate with other security tools such as CyberArk or Mimecast, to cover the entire IT infrastructure.""The improvements needed for CrowdStrike Falcon Complete are in the way the agent updates. The overall management of endpoints needs to be better.""We're a small organization. I'm not sure how it would fare if you were larger and had more and more users and added complexity.""The licensing is a bit complex.""All of our customers complain about the reporting and say that it is very poor.""The documentation that they had for the use of their API's was not very helpful.""The analysis of the investigation of the incident could be easier."

More CrowdStrike Falcon Complete Cons →

"It would be incredibly valuable to have the Field Effect team handle some of the third-party application patching they're currently identifying.""In the "Arrows" tab, if we encounter multiple duplicate recommendations, it would be helpful to be able to select and resolve or dismiss them all at once.""Covalence should provide a live view of the endpoint because the endpoint view in the portal is 5 to 15 minutes behind the actual status of the endpoint and its vulnerabilities. When it doesn't update with the actual status, it makes managing those things harder because sometimes something gets updated, and one of those vulnerabilities has gone away, but that doesn't appear in the ARO.""I would like Covalence to include patching.""It would be more effective if it could surgically isolate the specific malicious process instead of deleting the entire machine.""The cost of the solution has room for improvement.""Because this is a security solution, I would recommend that they extend their support hours, and perhaps for emergencies, even to 24/7 or 24/5.""There are tags for security threats, but I only view them. I do not action anything. I just see what is happening. Sometimes, they are a little bit vague, and I am unsure what they mean, so I leave that to the IT experts. Overall, we are quite satisfied with their product and how it is working."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solution's price is spot on; if anything, it's slightly below the norm for most services. Compared to building the same team internally, it would cost more to create the same amount of capability than what we get from an external team. Price-wise, Binary Defense is in a great spot."
  • "From the initial cost that Binary Defense came in with, we pared it down quite a bit over the course of 30 or 60 days. My leadership would say that their cost was high, but realistically, they were in line with the market."
  • "The pricing is on target. Working with their sales team on pricing negotiations was a pleasant process. They were very respectful of the constraints we had and I feel that we're paying a fair price."
  • "It's valued at the right price. Even with the number of endpoints we have, we don't feel that it's a lot more than any competitor. In fact, it might be less expensive when you look at the fact that you're getting a full flex SOC out of it along with the tools."
  • "Binary Defense has changed its pricing model from being primarily based on the volume of data to one based on escalations and incidents they handle."
  • "Binary Defense MDR is priced competitively and may be slightly lower than CrowdStrike."
  • "After we acquired this platform, we met with a number of different vendors. Binary Defense came in with a proposal that was surprisingly affordable. In fact, we were able to recoup the cost of their services within a short period of time. This is because Binary Defense is able to provide the same level of security as a team of two or three in-house analysts but at a fraction of the cost. As a result, Binary Defense is saving us an estimated $250,000 to $300,000 per year."
  • "The pricing isn't that bad, it's very competitive. I don't feel that it's over-priced and I don't feel that it's under-priced."
  • More Binary Defense MDR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The price is okay, although you're not going to get away cheap when it comes to security."
  • "At approximately €60 per machine, per year, I think that it's a good price point."
  • "It is a fairly firm price. It is not the cheapest solution, but if you take the complete team into consideration, it is a great value."
  • "The average price is approximately $500 per customer."
  • "CrowdStrike is more expensive than SentinelOne. Licensing works on the number of agents and the modules you buy. CrowdStrike has different modules, such as Falcon, Falcon Overwatch, Falcon Complete, etc. The pricing depends upon the module that the customer wants. They have different Incident Response (IR) teams, which are very expensive."
  • "They are really reasonable for the services they are providing. When you add more endpoints, you are going to pay more for the license."
  • "Its price is very high. CrowdStrike Falcon Complete is 50% more expensive than Cisco AMP for Endpoints."
  • "There is a license for this solution and everything is included. However, The price of the could be lower."

  • "The cost of the solution is high."
  • "Covalence is cost-effective."
  • "We were particularly impressed with their pricing model, which charges per user rather than per system."
  • "Although Covalence is expensive, it provides good value for the price."
  • "The pricing is comparable to what else is out there."
  • "We're currently enrolled in the volume package, which offers tiered pricing based on usage."
  • "While Field Effect Covalence's pricing seems competitive for the market, the biggest hurdle lies in the lack of dedicated security budgets within many organizations."
  • "The licensing model itself is solid, but we're ironing out some inconsistencies in how customer profiles are configured."
