We performed a comparison between AppDynamics and Splunk ITSI (IT Service Intelligence) based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Splunk ITSI offers easier integration with DLP, automated dashboarding and reporting, and an observability feature. Users find it stable, scalable, and easy to use with no major issues. Although customer service and support reviews are mixed, setup is generally straightforward, and pricing is high but reasonable. Organizations have seen positive ROI through increased visibility and reduced data report costs.
"From the performance management side, I like everything from business transaction work to tracking. On the database side, we can get a lot of insights from the database. On the server monitoring side, it helped us a lot to find out some of the issues on the VM side because VMs were creating a little trouble for us."
"The release management capabilities are great."
"Once you get past installation, AppDynamics is highly stable and we get good results."
"We can make custom alerts in our system for specific issues like high CPU utilization or application downtime."
"It has improved my organization because we are able to proactively and reactively look at performance issues."
"AppDynamics has been stable."
"That visual representation’s been really good, also the overhead that AppDynamics creates is quite small. We've tried Dynatrace in the past. Some of the applications didn't work as well with Dynatrace."
"Error analysis in the troubleshooting sections go straight to the point."
"The solution is easy to scale."
"Alerts and episodes are valuable to me."
"The root cause analysis is very helpful for us."
"ITSI's most valuable feature is that it's easy to integrate DLP."
"The modeling required to setup ITSI has been very helpful in providing us a better understanding and a logical view of our services. The modeling is flexible and can be as granular or high level as our needs dictate."
"We liked the built-in calculation of health scores."
"We have a lot of teams using Splunk and they would be blind without it."
"ITSI includes a feature called a glass table."
"The network diagnostics that they are adding will be really useful. They could add more detail into what is going on in the network."
"The end-user experience is not really good because we can't catch all of the transactions. We only can catch the full stack of flow transactions, but I think that this is caused by the technology they use. If they will catch every transaction, it will cause a very big load on the performance of applications. The monitoring of all transactions needs improvement."
"Additional support for NextGen mobile platforms also needs to be high in the roadmap prioritizations"
"Its resiliency can be improved. We're told that the best we can do with an on-prem solution is to have a hot standby that requires a manual switchover. So, it is a do-it-yourself Ikea model of maintaining data consistency between two servers, without having low balance or failover considerations for an on-prem solution."
"SQL statement monitoring"
"AppDynamics should improve its ability to track all the transactions."
"When you have high stress of visits I do not know if you are more stress because of the amount of visits or because you have to wait eternal 60 seconds to find out it things are going well or you already have mess."
"The initial setup could be easier."
"It would be good if an interface was included in the next release."
"It is pretty okay. I am not sure whether the current release has already moved to the new framework where instead of the glass tables, we can directly use the Dashboard Studio. It would be nice to have that integrated into the same framework."
"The solution should integrate more features in NEAP."
"Microservices is the only area where Splunk ITSI can be improved. When things come from one EC2 instance to another, there's a lack of exposure to microservices, so we can't know what's happening. Apart from that, it's doing pretty well."
"Splunk ITSI lacks out-of-the-box solutions for enterprise users."
"The license cost is expensive."
"Predictive analytics, in terms of preventing incidents before they occur, still needs time to mature."
"After upgrading Splunk ITSI from version 4.11 to 4.13, the analyzer stopped finding values for KPS and services."
