Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its application dependency mapping.""Weekly reports to management really make our life simple.""It is a stable solution. The stability is okay.""I like the artificial intelligence and machine learning that it uses in the solution. Because once the solution discovers all the assets, all the infrastructure, and all the dependencies between services, it learns how it works. So, it learns to predict when a problem is going to happen. It becomes predictive in an autonomous way.""Start anywhere application modelling brings a fantastic opportunity for users to see what is where.""The speed at which it's able to collect a wide-range of information, then make it useful for you, like asset management, knowledge management, and incident management.""The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is easy to install and deploy.""The initial setup was quite easy."

"Qualys has a continuous endpoint monitoring feature for agent-based scanning. Once you deploy the solution, it monitors everything that is happening every 30 minutes. Then, if there are any vulnerabilities, they are reported.""There are fewer false positives when using this solution.""I like that we have many scanners and channels that don't overload. It helps us scan and track easily. Also, the tagging system is good for tagging. We can still use QualysAgent task ID tools even if tags aren't made.""This solution gives us insight into our environment and improves our security. It helps us to maintain a good patching system whereby we know that XYZ is vulnerable within the system.""It's very configurable to adjust impact to systems.""I find Qualys VM very robust, and it's very useful for vulnerability management and patch management. The value that it brings to my environment is economies of scale. There is no limitation on adding any endpoints. You go by the rule, and it's added once another endpoint is added to our environment. It's automatically installed, and it's less work from our end. It frees up my license automatically if I don't need an endpoint or if my machine is decommissioned. I like the dashboard displays because I don't see any duplication. The most important part is vulnerability management and prioritization. Unlike Symantec, it shows the kind of vulnerability I would want to patch first. It provides a holistic view of the kind of vulnerabilities and the ones I should remediate first. I don't have to do a scan; it just brings up those critical kinds of vulnerabilities like zero-day vulnerabilities and tells me to prioritize them. You have to prioritize these vulnerabilities first and go on with the rest. The dashboard shows me the ones that have been fixed, so I don't have to complete an aging report. The user experience and the graphical interface are good. As it's user-friendly and understandable on an executive level, it brings real value. We also use this solution because it's robust and flexibile.""The most valuable feature is the connection of threat intelligence information with identified vulnerabilities, which means you can prioritize vulnerabilities according to actual attacks.""Qualys VM's most valuable feature is automatic detection."

Cons
"There isn't much that could be improved. The solution is pretty thorough, very easy to implement, and very easy to operate.""The solution's scalability is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are needed.""A review of end of life data would be nice.""There are certain limitations in the mapping feature of the solution.""The solution is definitely useful.""An area that can be improved is the IoT.""It would be nice to see more updates to the solution.""The support from BMC Helix Discovery can improve, it takes a long time before we receive any feedback. It can take days to months sometimes."

More BMC Helix Discovery Cons →

"They should make it accessible for more operating systems.""Sometimes the scanning can get overwhelmed and start to drag when a lot of users are trying to scan at once.""Qualys does have an on-prem solution, but it is very expensive.""Make some minimal dashboard improvements.""The customer support is very bad.""Finding things in management can be quite difficult.""Qualys currently does not have any features for scanning SCADA, IoT, and Industrial Control Systems.""Qualys could be improved in its overall performance compared to other vulnerability management or scanning tools."
