We performed a comparison between Commvault Cloud and Microsoft Exchange based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two File Archiving solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable features of Commvault HyperScale X are all the general functions and the performance."
"We use Commvault Command Center for backups and restores and for the creation of new clients. We use it for other functionalities as well. In terms of VMware, I can go directly to the Command Center, enter VMware, and I can search it directly. Command Center is very useful and it can be used for more advanced techniques."
"Scalability, as well as stability, are a couple of important parts of this solution."
"I can collect the target data, then we connect it to Commvault. There is not another system that can connect to our target database or target storage. This is very important for us, because there is the threat of malware right now. This can protect not only the product, but also the backup data from outside threats."
"The most important feature is that everything can be controlled using a single console."
"The backup and restore capabilities are key. The most useful things to us about Commvault, in general, is the breadth of the applications that it can protect as well as the features inside of it, like deduplication and encryption. When people get their data encrypted, Commvault has a way to tell if somebody is being attacked through a cybersecurity threat because their data changes. So, Commvault has what they call honeypot files out there to look to see if anybody is changing these files. Only Commvault knows which files those are, so nobody should be messing with those files. If it changes, then it will alert you to say, "Oh, I potentially have somebody messing with my files." It will alert you to something going on in your environment that probably shouldn't be happening. We deploy that with all our customers so they have this capability as well."
"The granularity of the Office 365 Backup & Recovery feature is very good. We've used all of it, recovering data from each of the four systems that we back up with it, and it works very well."
"Commvault is a stable solution for Red Hat Linux."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"It is a product that is simple to manage, and easy to use."
"I find Exchange's basic mail features to be highly valuable."
"Microsoft Exchange's most valuable feature is that it's old-fashioned communication, meaning it's good for people who aren't able to work comfortably in a cloud environment."
"The initial setup is very simple."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Exchange is its ease of use."
"The product can scale."
"The most valuable features of Microsoft Exchange are it is always online and has broad email and file-sharing capabilities."
"The functional integration could be better."
"This is not a very high standard product."
"Its technical support could be better."
"The customer support is not good."
"It does not have an easy deployment. The deployment is not something that just anybody can go in and deploy."
"Improved documentation and user training resources could contribute to a smoother onboarding process and more effective utilization of the platform's capabilities."
"The setup was a little bit difficult for a non-IT person like me. My OneDrive is protected by multifactor authentication, and to get the backup to begin behind that multifactor authentication took a little bit of almost customized support, even though I was following the instructions and the videos. That process could have been easier."
"Commvault's price is quite high."
"From a reliability perspective, they need to improve the search engine, it is not very powerful."
"The solution could be more secure."
"Sometimes we don't get support quickly enough - for example, if there's some global hacker attack, we don't get served as quickly. The skills of the technical staff can also vary, and Microsoft could perhaps improve their training."
"I think that improvements should be made in creating greater abilities for Microsoft Exchange in terms of Reasearch and Development."
"The main problem with Microsoft products is that we're constantly required to install patches and fixes."
"Microsoft could make it easier to combine comments in the GUI. It isn't easy to do certain things in Exchange, primarily if the administrator isn't used to the command line, so I think the customer interface could be improved."
"When we started using Exchange on the cloud, we had a lot of initial problems relating to our main database and we also experienced issues with the accidental deletion of inboxes, amongst other things. In fact, many of the files we had moved to the cloud had disappeared. There also seems to be a problem with the retention of information."
"It's not always the finest solution in terms of integration with products that are not from Microsoft. It integrates very well with Microsoft products but not with third-party products."
