Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up.""The product's initial setup phase is very easy.""The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls.""Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out.""Impressive detection capabilities""Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration.""I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks.""Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers."

"I have found it valuable that this solution is always there and always armed.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...I rate the technical support a ten out of ten.""It catches things that no one else catches. We occasionally have things slip through antivirus and other things, but Huntress catches them. It is awesome as an additional layer of defense on top of other things.""It is very easy to use. It is a great solution. They are one of the better vendors that I have ever worked with since I have been in the industry.""Huntress' best feature is the threat-hunting expertise that is part of their 24/7 SOC.""While threat hunting is undoubtedly the most valuable feature, the combination of IP scanning, foothold identification, and canary monitoring has also proven to be incredibly beneficial.""Huntress helps by highlighting potential issues, allowing us to take proactive measures.""The EDR product is simple to install. It is low maintenance. All the alerts go to Huntress first, and their analyst team reviews them and sends actionable things our way."

"Threat hunting is a very good feature on Tanium. We have just started using it and have not used it extensively.""I'm not so familiar with the tool but I like the interaction of the console to the picture. Patching is the primary model I have been focusing on for the last couple of weeks. So I have created a proof of concept environment and have been checking the available features.""Tanium's most valuable features are patch management, inventory, and distribution software.""Tanium's most valuable feature is its instant discovery aspect.""For incident response tasks, all these tasks can get done in minutes with minimal disruption to the end-user.""I like the tool's incident response and security patching.""The interrogation piece was the most valuable feature because it was very detailed.""The most valuable features of this solution are the consolidation of all historical data on device endpoints, security drivers, firmware, and Software version gaps."

Cons
"Detections could be improved.""Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation.""Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later.""There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors.""The support needs improvement.""It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations.""We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels.""I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"Some of Huntress' reporting could be improved.""The application control system could benefit from improvements in identifying and managing both whitelisted and blacklisted applications.""One area for improvement in Huntress would be to allow for PSA integration from a specific IP address or hostname for better security measures.""We need an API to automatically retrieve metrics and data about backend activity so we can generate client reports.""I would like the API to be a little better. They are getting there.""Their EDR can have increased coverage for Macintosh. They do not fully secure Macintosh computers.""Huntress' Process Insights feature could benefit from more robust search and filtering capabilities.""I am anxiously watching to see how they evolve their MDR for Office 365. If anything, I would like more automated remediation capabilities in their MDR for Office 365."

More Huntress Cons →

"Tanium’s scalability could be improved.""The main issues are the network connection because different customers have issues with their networks. It's difficult implementing this type of solution because the network is the main feature in the architecture for these types of solutions. Tanium could improve by creating some network optimization.""The solution lacks mobility.""Tanium's limitations should be improved because although it is a great tool, it is limited to only a few classes during a session.""Any movement into a SaaS solution has challenges since the processes and data flows are not well defined. Hence, you need to build it at the same time.""I would like to have more integrations and custom plugins to input. Integration is always a big deal in a lot of different environments.""The reporting could be improved.""The most painful thing is the interface. It's a bit unclear sometimes."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
