We performed a comparison between Nakivo and Veeam Backup Replication based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Nakivo finishes ahead of Veeam. Users felt that Nakivo helped reduce costs, has excellent automation and is very scalable. Nakivo helped users save time due to its simplistic, reliable processes. However, Veeam users did feel that Veeam’s cloud version needs more maturity to be competitive in today's market.
"This is a user-friendly solution that has a lot of certifications and documentation for the Microsoft Hyper-V infrastructure."
"Before using Nakivo Backup & Replication, all our data backup processes took a long time and did not optimize the disk space reserved for backup. With the introduction of Nakivo Backup & Replication, saving times have been reduced by almost half (thanks to the use of several simultaneous transporters) and the space occupied has also had a very important reduction."
"This solution was surprisingly easy to configure."
"The easy management and a good overview are the most important aspects."
"The product is easy to manage for any IT person who is new to backup, recovery, and replication."
"The upgrade process is manual but very simple to do."
"The solution has a user-friendly interface and is easy to configure."
"We have been able to set up a failover site that has replicas of our critical VMs."
"It's simply very good software for backup purposes."
"WAN Accelerator helps tremendously with replicating our data because we have a large chunk of data that gets replicated between our two facilities."
"The solution offers the normal benefits of a virtual machine versus a physical, actual machine. It doesn't take up space, for example."
"I enjoy the ability to quickly search for VMs through the Veeam console."
"Provides lots of reporting and visualization of how much data has been transferred."
"Before Veeam, we had backup infrastructure sprawl. Veeam was able to reduce our overall backup windows while reducing our dedicated backup infrastructure."
"This is very user-friendly."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Backup Replication are efficient backup and replication. Additionally, Veeam Backup Replication supports all products and vendors."
"I think it is important to work not only in replicating the virtual machines in Amazon AWS, but in other cloud systems."
"UI could use some upgrades. The UI is basic, but functional."
"It would be a good thing to have some use case and architecture examples online to understand integration in complex infrastructure."
"While the solution provides mostly what we need, it would be ideal if there were some additional feature capabilities for the API."
"The upgrade process is a bit dated and could use some changes."
"We are satisfied with Nakivo, but if anything could be improved, I think it would be more real-time as opposed to email support availability."
"One of the things I liked least about this software is when an update was pushed to one of the servers we had, somehow we didn't receive the update and needed some quick troubleshooting."
"An improvement would be to include a general data backup solution that is not only for virtual machines."
"The initial setup could be simplified."
"When in a domain, the virus can easily attack the Veeam server, something which happened to us."
"Lacks online training."
"The cloud part of it can be improved. There should be an option for Veeam in your own cloud, as compared to the Veeam cloud offering that's currently there. The rest of it is easy."
"Needs better integration with cloud service providers."
"I would like to see the Veeam cloud solution and Microsoft Office 365 included all in one platform."
"If they could add more support for all of the modern hypervisors, that would make Veeam much better and more flexible to work with. For example, there is no solution for VM to VM replication when it comes to Oracle OEM servers."
"In terms of what could be improved, when creating a backup job with Veeam, you can create a daily backup, but it doesn't do it within that job. It does not give you the ability to also set the terms for monthly and/or weekly backups. It has to be a separate job. It gets clunky to manage the timeframes where you don't want a daily to run on this day and creating weeklies. And you don't want a daily to run on this day doing monthlies. That is hard to deal with. It would be really nice if you could do it through a single command line or a single interface."

The functionalities are almost the same. Nakivo is available at a lower price.
If you don't need advanced storage integration there is no difference.
Nakivo offer almost the same functionality of Veeam at a lower price.
They have the same functionality except that Nakivo allows the backups to be immutable, thus, providing protection against malware (backups cannot be moved, deleted or changed) It has 1/3 of the price but sometimes there is a direct deal.
For me, Nakivo has all Veeam features and also supports Oracle RMAN backup.
Nakivo has a very flexible deployment compared with Veeam (it supports the deployment using Windows and SQL only). It can be installed on NAS, VA, and many more. Most of the things have a reasonable price.
