What was our ROI?

We are measuring ROI through quality: Reducing errors, saving time, and saving money.

What other advice do I have?

It is a good product.

it's not as complex as running a new computer language, but it is also not as simple as connecting EPL dots. Therefore, it is a medium level of complexity on the learning curve.

My team has taken course on the Automation Anywhere University. Their feedback was good. I have not taken any courses on it.

Bots add a lot of productivity and value to a business
Pros and Cons
  • "There have been a lot of challenges in terms of interfacing with the customer ERPs. So, we have been building tools and interfaces using bots to write back into these custom ERPs. Specifically, in the area where I work, this has been very helpful."
  • "Bots add a lot of productivity and value to our business, because a robot can work for 24/7. They work a lot better, as compared to a human being, specifically for tasks which are repetitive in nature."
  • "I have not seen bots working efficiently in the area of reporting."

What is our primary use case?

There are multiple use cases. Primarily, we are looking at finance and accounting. So, we have been deploying bots, specifically in the area of account payable and cash applications.

How has it helped my organization?

Bots add a lot of productivity and value to our business, because a robot can work for 24/7. They work a lot better, as compared to a human being, specifically for tasks which are repetitive in nature. Therefore, we are seeing a lot of business value being derived from these bots.

What is most valuable?

There have been a lot of challenges in terms of interfacing with the customer ERPs. So, we have been building tools and interfaces using bots to write back into these custom ERPs. Specifically, in the area where I work, this has been very helpful.

What needs improvement?

I have not seen bots working efficiently in the area of reporting.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The time it takes to scale bots depends process to process, how complex the process is and if you're talking about a specific process. It may takes anywhere from around three weeks to 15 weeks, depending upon the complexities, the number of bots which we are deploying, and the problem these bots are solving.

How are customer service and technical support?

My team is in touch with the technical support. I don't work directly with them.

What was our ROI?

Measuring ROI is a combination of multiple factors. It could be saving time, saving money, or getting controls into the systems. It's a combination of all this things.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I would recommend Automation Anywhere, as it is a known, leading solution in the market.

There are a lot of advantages which Automation Anywhere has over a lot of other vendors. Why we chose Automation Anywhere is because of the ease of scripting, the good support that they have, and we can deploy these bots for more customers, whose preference is also Automation Anywhere.

Another thing that I have seen, with finance and accounting, Automation Anywhere is the better fit, as compared to some of the other vendors in the market.

Because of the ease in which we can deploy bots, along with the savings that it generates for our customers, Automation Anywhere definitely has an edge over other vendors.

What other advice do I have?

When we started around two to two and a half years back, ease of use was a problem at the time. Right now, with the scripts and exposure that we have, I don't see a big challenge going forward.

My team has been trained through the Automation Anywhere University, so we do have a lot of people who have been trained on this tool. The training materials are good. The feedback that I have received on the University has been good, as I have not been personally trained through the University.

helped clients with cognitive capability which has increased the number of use cases for automation
Pros and Cons
  • "The recorder feature for front end automation and email packages is the most valuable feature as it has more features and it makes the email server related tasks easier and more independent on the email client."
  • "The inclusion of word packages would help us to extract data from Word and automate word-related activities easily."

What is our primary use case?

We have use cases that include cognitive as well as non cognitive requirements. IQ Bot is widely used across all the use cases. We are also looking forward to make use of the Excel ribbon and AARI framework.

One of our use case needs is to extract data from KYC documents and then do the validations to submits the rejection reason.

Another use case is to read customer information for FD booking and validate the customer data with the system's data and book the FD in the specified amount of time.

Similarly we have around 12 use cases for the development/UAT.

How has it helped my organization?

AA has improved our organization in a positive manner. It has increased the productivity of our clients and reduced manual, hectic work.

It has reduced the labor work and reduced the prone to error situations because of automation.

AA has helped the client with cognitive capability which has increased the number of use cases for automation.

It has increased the client's confidence in depending on bots and reduce the workforce.

ROI for clients has increased and productivity has also increased effectively because of AA.

What is most valuable?

The recorder feature for front end automation and email packages is the most valuable feature as it has more features and it makes the email server related tasks easier and more independent on the email client. Integration of VB, python, and java scripts help us to make our code more reliable. Excel basic and excel advanced package with increased features help us to easily automate the Excel related tasks.

PDF package is also valuable for PDF to image conversion, encryption, decryption, and merging.

OCR package is also valuable as it helps to read the contents of Image.

What needs improvement?

The inclusion of word packages would help us to extract data from Word and automate word-related activities easily.

PDF package should have the Read from PDF option. Now we need to convert the word to PDF and then extract data.

The quick mapping between the parent and child bot variables should be available.

Different tasks should be visible at the same time. Now we need to open different browser tabs to view multiple codes at the same time.

A2019 has more features than the v11 version but some mentioned that user-friendly features should be enabled.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AA for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

A2019 is less stable than the previous versions. But hope that it will get stabilized soon.

How are customer service and technical support?

AA provides 24/7 support and with the effective ticketing tool, issues are addressed at the earliest.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use any different solution for automation previously.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward, we had all the pre-requisites in place.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented this through an in-house team.

What was our ROI?

ROI has increased than earlier in much higher percentage.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't have much idea on this, as I am an RPA developer. I would suggest talking to a sales person about this.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We had completed the training for UiPath and AntWorks as well. But we are using AA effectively.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Saves us a huge amount of man-hours
Pros and Cons
  • "Automation Anywhere provides the best application to use for RPA and other automation requirements. It's very easy to use and easy to understand. It's UI(user interface) which is so friendly and easily understand by the user, it is very easy to install automation anywhere product simply click on next to install, it is easy to develop bot and no coding knowledge is required to develop"
  • "Configuring A2019 and using it is getting a little difficult because of frequent errors of compatibility. It is not so user friendly like the enterprise desktop version."

What is our primary use case?

I automated an application launched through the Citrix environment. The application was running on the SIT environment. Our application was a legacy desktop telecom domain application that runs on a Citrix environment. It was a very difficult task to automate our legacy application and we have seen only one tool which was able to successfully implement the automation. I have come to know about the AA tool and wanted to try this tool. And we are successfully able to automate a few of our flows with high accuracy and we have since then used AA for some of our functional executions on our legacy desktop application.

I have also implemented AA for the business process of logging into the work machine, opening remote desktop, and triggering some jobs during odd times. We have also made use of AA to keep our remote desktops active so that they do not get logged out and become a hurdle for our tasks during non-office hours.

How has it helped my organization?

After using AA for some of the flows, we identified that the execution time was reduced by 70% when compared to the other automation tool that we have been using for 8 years. As we didn't find any other tool that supports our legacy application automation, we have been using the existing one for the past 8 years. But once we tried with AA, our POC was successful and we are able to automate some of our flows and execute them. We have been saving huge man-hours by using AA. AA has made us to implement a new automation tool for the testing of our legacy application.

What is most valuable?

Automation Anywhere provides the best application to use for RPA and other automation requirements. It's very easy to use and easy to understand. It's UI(user interface) is user-friendly and easily understood by users, it is very easy to install Automation Anywhere. Simply click on next to install. It is easy to develop a bot, and no coding knowledge is required to develop.

AA has another feature BOT STORE which contains pre-built bots for most commonly used applications like sap, oracle, etc and last but not least IQ bot features which are used to extract unstructured or semi-structure data from pdf, images, emails, etc. Automation Anywhere also provides a dashboard so you can check your bot details like bot accuracy, bot failure details, and ratio, etc. It helps to find errors. It also provides error handling commands so if you know the bot may get any error so you can handle it.

What needs improvement?

Configuring A2019 and using it is getting a little difficult because of frequent errors of compatibility. It is not so user friendly like the enterprise desktop version. Sometimes the A2019 platform takes too much time in the pre-processing and deployment process which is too time consuming and to solve this we need to restart the services and also sometimes need to restart our machines. This is extra overhead. AA-client is too heavy software. AA-client should support multiple languages. Sometimes the client software needs to login, again and again, every hour and so.

Advanced Machine Learning and AI features with visualization capabilities should be included in the tool so that the product can offer many new use cases and

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Automation Anywhere for 1 year and 6 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The bots automated were very stable and was not needed a lot of maintaining effort.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solutions were easy to implement across many machines and using the cloud to run the bots on remote machines was a great feature.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have been using a different solution and finding an alternative tool to help improve productivity. After the AA solution worked for us, we have been using both solutions to improve productivity even more.

How was the initial setup?

It was completely easy and we didn't face any issues in setting up the software for the first time.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented the bot through in-house team.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have evaluated Tricentis TOSCA and we couldn't be able to automate our legacy application flows with it.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Eliminates miscomputations of reports due to human error
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features for us are the Image Recognition and Object Cloning. We used this feature to automate our web-based tasks with repetitive actions or complex conditions. These features are very easy to use and do not require you to have deep knowledge in programming to understand since it has a drop and drag feature used to control it."
  • "The Web Recorder should also include a feature where the user can select what browser you want it to run since it is currently using the Internet Explorer browser as default. Some of our web-based systems are currently not compatible with Internet Explorer and can only run using Firefox or Google Chrome."

What is our primary use case?

We use Automation Anywhere to automate web-based administrative tasks. For example, we have a task to extract Excel reports from a site to gather issue tickets information, filter and compute the data, and store it to the SharePoint site. This is done manually and takes five hours to complete daily. Using Automation Anywhere, we created a bot that extracts the data from the site, filters and computes the extracted data to generate the report according to required output and format, and uploads the report at SharePoint.

How has it helped my organization?

With Automation Anywhere bots, we are able to cut down the manual efforts by 80% in generating Excel and Power BI reports, extracting and uploading files to various sites, and many other web-based administrative tasks. This also makes our report more accurate since it eliminates miscomputations of reports due to human error. Automation Anywhere also allows us to train our team members in creating bots of their own since it is very easy to use and has a user-friendly interface and it requires less coding.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features for us are the Image Recognition and Object Cloning. We used this feature to automate our web-based tasks with repetitive actions or complex conditions. These features are very easy to use and do not require you to have deep knowledge in programming to understand since it has a drop and drag feature used to control it. It is also very reliable in recognizing images and locating objects on a web page, client software, or local files, so we have very little hiccups in completing the tasks with the bot we have created.

What needs improvement?

The Web Recorder should also include a feature where the user can select what browser you want it to run since it is currently using the Internet Explorer browser as default. Some of our web-based systems are currently not compatible with Internet Explorer and can only run using Firefox or Google Chrome. Image recognition can be improved if it can still run the created bot in a different PC with different resolution sizes as it is currently very dependent on it and will not able to recognize the image you need if there are changes to resolution size.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Automation Anywhere for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the automations created using Automation Anywhere is very impressive. It provided us reliability in running the bots using Automation Anywhere where we have problems in using our previous RPA platform.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Automation Anywhere allows a very wide scale in terms of providing automations to our daily tasks that we thought were not possible before.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously have an RPA platform but it is not very reliable especially in recognizing images.

What was our ROI?

It lessens the FTE required to complete our daily task and provided more time for us to expand our capability to accept additional tasks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not in charge regarding this matter.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

No. Automation Anywhere was our first choice.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A resource saver, a money saver, and helps us with security
Pros and Cons
  • "It is one of the popular RPA vendors offering powerful & user-friendly RPA capabilities to automate any complex tasks. It is one of the "Revolutionary Technology" that changes the way the enterprise operates. This tool combines conventional RPA with intellectual elements like natural language understanding and reading any unstructured data."
  • "It is not able to use OCR effectively and has limited usability."

What is our primary use case?

We use AA for Training and Proof of Concept purposes.

OS: Windows 10

Task: Automate Excel files consisting of quality data.

Multiple Task Cloning

Automated Email Sender

Object Cloning

The basic requirement was to extract a big Lot of data consisting of many attributes.

We need to extract out a relevant attribute from the DB data set and process it such that it fulfills client Data Quality requirement.

Filter out quality data using Manual intervention was a hectic task and that is why I used AA RPA tool.

How has it helped my organization?

  • It reduced a lot of time to process quality data and store in organized Excel files and ledgers.
  • AA made Task management simpler.
  • Hassle-free development
  • Hassle-free deployment
  • Good Community Support

There was a large number of individuals who were doing the data collection and artifacts collection, and they were actually a third-party. The solution improves our situation in terms of time, money, and resources. Plus, when you're dealing with Data Quality information, there are additional complications of privacy concerns. If we can keep that in-house and have a bot or automated code take care of it, then there are fewer human eyes on the private information as well. It's a resource saver, it's a money saver, and it helps us with security, keeping more human eyes away from private or touchy information.

What is most valuable?

1. Task Bots

2. Smart Recorder

3. Meta Bots

4. IQ bots

5. Task Cloning

6. Ease of coding with drag and drop features.

7. It has a very good analytics package.

It is one of the popular RPA vendors offering powerful & user-friendly RPA capabilities to automate any complex tasks. It is one of the "Revolutionary Technology" that changes the way the enterprise operates. This tool combines conventional RPA with intellectual elements like natural language understanding and reading any unstructured data.

Automation Anywhere allows organizations to automate the processes which are performed by humans. It is a Web-Based Management System which uses a Control Room to run the Automated Tasks. Automation Anywhere tool can automate ends to end business operations for companies.

What needs improvement?

1. Data Mapping Utilities

2. Console Management

3. Bot Runner need to perform much smoother

4. It is not able to use OCR effectively and has limited usability.

5. Handwritten documents are still a drawback. Also difficult in terms of control room management.

6. A few applications take more time for loading when integrated.

7. Declaring the datatype of variables is challenging.

8. The process of migrating codes from one environment to the next can be automated as a default function.

9. The webpage for the control room could use some retouching or redesign to enhance the user experience.

10. Many little-usable features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AA for three months.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

      I previously used Ui Path.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

First have hands on with Community Version and then figure out your requirements.

Easy to use, secure, and has helped to make our processes more robust and efficient
      Pros and Cons
      • "The most valuable features of this solution are its scalability, security using the credential vault, and ease of use for business."
      • "Better use case management to prevent each development from scratch would be an improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution to automate manual processes of limited or negligible value in terms of up-skilling personnel.

How has it helped my organization?

AA has indirectly helped in re-engineering processes, which has made them more robust and efficient. Hence, this has helped the business immensely.

      What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of this solution are its scalability, security using the credential vault, and ease of use for business.

      What needs improvement?

A Cloud-based version of this solution would reduce dependence on architecture.

Better use case management to prevent each development from scratch would be an improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for one year.

People can start building bots in the click of a second with the newest cloud version
      Pros and Cons
      • "What really helps RPA to grow is the cognitive part of it. That's where the product is really good. Initially, it started out as RPA, but now there is a cognitive aspect to it. That's a key value to it."
      • "Technical support needs to be much faster. I also had the project delivery. I had six clients whom I looked after. Whenever we got stuck, it was all about sprinting. There was a two or three week sprint. Within that, if you just wait for two to three days, it doesn't make sense. The support needs to implode, because I was just talking to a customer now who came directly and asked us, "Can you give us a dedicated support team?" It's feedback from our customer that support takes too long."

What is our primary use case?

We have quite a few use cases that we have built. Not one, but many. I see a lot of value in the cognitive part of it: the IQ Bot. In the traditional RPA market, people have been doing it for a very long time now.

How has it helped my organization?

There's one use case that we did it for a U.S. organization for their accounts payable process. That's the biggest use case that we did. We took that and showcased it to all our customers, so they could get confidence. By doing that, we got three to four more leads out of it, increasing the business. That's a huge use case where we showcase the capabilities of IQ and its strongest aspects.

      What is most valuable?

The cognitive is where everyone is heading to in the RPA platform. What really helps RPA to grow is the cognitive part of it. That's where the product is really good. Initially, it started out as RPA, but now there is a cognitive aspect to it. That's a key value to it.

      What needs improvement?

An interesting thing: If you look at AA, the OCR capability is actually from a third-party. They don't have their own OCR in there. They use ABBYY or Tesseract. They should have their own engine built-in with their own IP. It increases the value rather than trying to use a third-party solution. That's where I see a lot of value.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

As a product, it's been always very stable. The only thing that we wanted was it to be on the cloud. We saw at Imagine yesterday that now it's on cloud and will be more stable and accessible. People can start building bots in the click of a second. That's the good part. It's more stable now because it's on the cloud.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I don't think there were any challenges. Everybody who wants to do RPA can start very small. They do a PoC, build a few bots, and then they scale up. I don't see a challenge as long as you have the right people doing what they are trying to do. A lot of use cases in our organization are only two to three bots initially, and now, they have 40 to 50 bots. So, I don't think there is an issue in terms of scalability at all.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support needs to be much faster. I also had the project delivery. I had six clients whom I looked after. Whenever we got stuck, it was all about sprinting. There was a two or three week sprint. Within that, if you just wait for two to three days, it doesn't make sense. The support needs to implode, because I was just talking to a customer now who came directly and asked us, "Can you give us a dedicated support team?" It's feedback from our customer that support takes too long.

      What was our ROI?

It's just the time; the pure amount of time. Imagine processing 5,000 to 6,000 documents, how much time does that take if a person does it? It saves on the quality of work, because the quality can be bad when somebody's doing it. If a bot does the work, it's faster and comes with good quality. These are two important things along with the cost saving in the long run. That's where the value is.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it between a seven and eight (out of ten), which is good. I want it to improve on the support. They really need to improve on the support model. Also, the cognitive bit needs to be enhanced. I know that there are other products on the market who do much better than the product that we have. A lot of work can still go into it. One thing, it still cannot do is cursive writing. IQ Bots still cannot read cursive writing. That's where a lot of development effort can go into it and make it a great product.
