We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You can build websites on it very quickly.""It is good for big projects.""The feature I find most valuable is that Drupal is a framework and not only a CMS.""We use a part of the solution called Acquia. The personalization portion of this is the most valuable aspect fo the solution."

"The performance is good.""Microsoft 365 Business has an abundance of features.""The initial setup is very easy.""The collaboration is very good.""Microsoft 365 Business is easy to use. Most companies use Microsoft Windows as an operating system making the use of this solution straightforward. There is a small learning curve and it is something everyone can adapt to easily.""I can use it to access my data from wherever I want, which is a very good feature.""The solution is easy to use and scalable.""I appreciate the mobility of this solution."

Cons
"I think the support needs to improve, as well as the integration with tracking and analytics systems.""It is a little bit simplified.""Digital experience features like target, segmentation, and campaign management have a long way to go.""The user experience in designing layouts should be much easier or much more helpful."

More Drupal Cons →

"If Business 365's documentation were better, then the user could read it and fix their issues by themselves. Microsoft could also add some more detailed pop-up troubleshooting messages. When a user has a problem, the messages they get don't help much.""Integration between Excel and the SQL Server could work more efficiently.""Bandwidth usage is not always the same depending on the network connection.""From the perspective of a developer, the interface could be more user-friendly. It is quite difficult to use.""Windows should be included with the solution since Microsoft is heading towards an SaaS-, cloud-based model.""The solution is overall stable. However, while using Teams there can be some performance issues during meetings.""The installation is at a moderate level of difficulty. It could be easier to install.""Microsoft Teams can be improved. It is a bit taxing on resources and is resource-heavy on the devices. When you install it on a PC, it uses a lot of memory. They should look for a better price model for educational institutions, and it should be free. We are also using Google Suite, which is free for educational institutions. They charge business people, not nonprofit institutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I would like to see better pricing."
  • More Drupal Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Depending on which plan you purchase, there are a plethora of applications available to you."
  • "Compared to buying a license, it is much cheaper and a good buy."
  • "We do monthly billing, however, I'm not sure what the exact costs are. We may pay around $1,000/month. We started using the Microsoft Teams and we've started doing the conference call feature, so that's another $4 an account and we have a few accounts using that right now."
  • "USD $1,250 annually for the standard package."
  • "Pricing can vary a lot due to fluctuations in exchange rates and that is not favorable for planning."
  • "Now you can select different licenses, for example, if somebody doesn't need all of the features, it would cost $8 USD per month and if they didn't need the email application then it would cost $6 USD per month."
  • "It works out to be $12.50 per user per month."
  • "Microsoft 365 Business will be good to have if you have a large organization where you have more than 3000 employees. Other cheaper solutions, like Gmail, are easily available in the market."

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
