We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"They have a credential vault, which is 256-bit encrypted. That is the highest security that can be provided when it comes to credential maintenance. With a credential vault, other than the user who is entering the password, no one else knows what the password is.""It removes demotivating, repetitive work from our teams.""By combining Automation Anywhere and Appian together, we have been able to build a bot that works with Appian workflows to manage all our employees.""By using this, we are saving time and we no need to do routine work, as it is now automated and the result is shared with all of the end-users.""In terms of development for our developers, it is very easy and quick to learn because Automation Anywhere has provided an online academy where developers can easily learn the features. It is very easy. If someone does not have a coding background, they can also learn from it very easily because it is just drag and drop and very interactive.""The ability to build automation without coding is its most valuable feature.""The Bot Store is an online library where anybody can find variously developed, production-ready bots.""There have been a lot of challenges in terms of interfacing with the customer ERPs. So, we have been building tools and interfaces using bots to write back into these custom ERPs. Specifically, in the area where I work, this has been very helpful."

"The initial setup of SAP Contextor is easy.""Contextor is a good solution for a Citrix environment. It's the first with this tool. Other tools provide the same functionality, but not with the Citrix environment.""The most valuable feature of SAP Contextor is that everyone is in one place in the program that I need.""Most of the details are already in the help portal and SAP notes are available. It is well documented as part of the product support.""Scalability is fine. It is pretty nice.""It is remarkably easy to configure and code, and it doesn't require an extensive technical background or coding expertise.""The standout features of SAP Intelligent RPA are its flexibility and integration capabilities."

Cons
"Automation Anywhere has to be integrated with machine learning and AI systems to read images and videos, then put the information into another format.""Improvement areas will be there for everybody. I think one area which I would like to see improvement is in IQ Bot. Maybe it has improved a lot in version 11 X but I think that that's one area which definitely scope to improve.""Going on-cloud comes with security hiccups and concerns.""The Web Recorder should also include a feature where the user can select what browser you want it to run since it is currently using the Internet Explorer browser as default. Some of our web-based systems are currently not compatible with Internet Explorer and can only run using Firefox or Google Chrome.""When a bot is in production, sometimes the keystrokes will not work. I am not sure why, and we have tried to contact technical support. They said that they don't have an answer for this. It happens in the the remote environment when we are deploying a bot into AWS machines. So, technical support said this happens in AWS machines sometimes: If the bot is running and the machine is locked, then at that time, the key strokes will not work. They have provided that solution, but we are trying to avoid keystrokes now.""More and more innovation is going on, and they'll have to keep adding features to keep up with the market. They have generative AI on their platform, but that's a new part. They are working on it. It's not 100 percent foolproof, but eventually it will get better. They need to work on their AI capabilities.""Even though the product is easy to use, there are some challenges when we move across different environments; there's a lot of setup needed.""In the next release, once the bot is triggered, the system should always recognize the active state and not prompt the user to log in again before the bot finishes all of its tasks."

More Automation Anywhere (AA) Cons →

"For potential features or improvements, one aspect I would suggest enhancing is the flexibility of the extraction process.""One way SAP Intelligent RPA could improve is by integrating built-in DI services for document processing.""There should be more of an error, like a proper error feature, in future releases. Sometimes, we don't understand why that automation is not learning what, like, where it is stuck, or what is the reason like, or what is the criteria we are missing to add. So a proper error message would be helpful.""SAP Contextor could improve by automating some processes.""I found that the SAP scripting of a program is easier than SAP Contextor.""The initial setup is of medium complexity. It is neither too hard nor too simple. You need some background in SAP and an understanding of it.""I would like to see a better capacity for unstructured data, for example, PDF, or text within images."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
  • "Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
  • "Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
  • "They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
  • "They give us a good deal on the licensing because we bundle and customize things. If you ask to get a bulk business deal, you will receive more benefit. If you take other products from the suite, like IQ Bot, you can also receive a deal on the licensing."
  • "We just did a round of price comparison on a global scale and found it's so hard to compare the license prices. But, Automation Anywhere, in general, is on the same price level as the other vendors, a bit lower in some cases."
  • "If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
  • "It's cheaper than other similar solutions."

  • "This is not a tool or software with a license as others are. The SaaS model is based on the usage of the tool."
  • "The initial cost might seem higher, but over time, with continued use over five or ten years, the cost tends to decrease, making it a more economical choice."
  • "The pricing is not that expensive. It is manageable."
  • "It all comes with a bundle right now. Having advanced features, it is competitively priced."
