We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The initial setup is very easy and not confusing.""We had several clients that were paying $7,500 a month for an MPLS line for one single 10 megabit circuit and we were able to take that from $7,500 a month down to $500 a month for two 10 megabits circuits that added redundancy where before they did not have redundancy and it gave them a much better throughput.""At the moment, for us, it is a very good solution because it has all the features we need and it is not so expensive.""The file and data reduction capabilities are very good. Without it, we have a great deal of network congestion.""The most valuable feature is the support for asymmetric lines.""The most valuable features of Silver Peak VX are we can register our customers and they can receive free training and all the solutions features.""The platform is valuable for bandwidth reduction.""It is a scalable solution."

"The SD-WAN solution as it is already is quite feature-rich and the upgrade process is very simple.""It allows you to combine two asymmetrical connections.""The most valuable feature of Citrix SD-WAN is customization. You are able to customize the solution to your needs.""Downtime for branch offices is now almost zero. We have 100% real-time visibility into all of our lines. MPLS links have been replaced with lower-cost links, saving a larger percentage of line costs. Overall, I see SD-WAN as a must. And the Citrix SD-WAN product has delivered on expectations and exceeded them. (With later firmware updates we now have good firewall capabilities in the product too).""The most valuable feature is its reliability.""The tool is quite cost-effective because it replaces the need for MPLS, which is a bit expensive...Citrix SD-WAN doesn't need much maintenance.""The stability is the main feature of Citrix SD-WAN. You can also upgrade the data packages or have less transmission.""The zero-touch deployment is most valuable for us."

More Citrix SD-WAN Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the ability to provide very granular classes of service. That's important because it allows us to prioritize certain traffic types over others, to a very granular level.""The most valuable feature is the ability to manage the traffic at the application layer. It makes things a lot easier. We're not digging for port numbers and IP addresses and different services... It makes us far more responsive in our ability to do things and speed up the process. We're a very small shop, so having something that's straightforward and easy to use is a big help.""The most valuable feature is the ability to create policies where we can tailor them to the customer. It enables us to prioritize apps and users for bandwidth.""It has the ability to prioritize, providing an automatic optimization. I can put it in a hierarchy and know that certain devices will be prioritized over others. It is able to identify the traffic. It can pick out whether if its a Zoom meeting (or something like that), then it's able to put that somewhere in the hierarchy based on the traffic type.""Exinda can show you which product uses how much throughput and can help you manage it.""The most valuable features are the shaper, accelerator, and the reporting... it will shape the traffic better than, for example, a Cisco, because it's more gentle on the shaping side of things. Suppose you were selling a 20-meg link. Because you can shape to the nth degree of traffic, the 20-meg link feels like about a 30 to 40-meg link."

Cons
"The license features should improve in the solution. For example, when you purchase VMware, it starts at a low level that has some functionality. When you want to expand, the difference in the price is substantial. I purchased the lower functional version for $4,000, and now if I want to upgrade, they ask me for $80,000. This is a $76,000 difference, there's no logic, but this is VMware.""Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform needs to improve integrations with other vendors.""They have to implement more security with it. The security, mainly their firewall functions, have to be included in the firewall features.""I expect automation in the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform's next release.""Their WAN optimization in terms of wireless connectivity doesn't have a very good cellular capability.""Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform’s stability and technical features need improvement.""If compared with Cisco, then Aruba's pricing is very aggressive.""There are some functional limitations that could improve."

More Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Platform Cons →

"The initial setup could be a bit easier.""I am happy with this product. If anything, its price can be reduced. It is a bit expensive.""There are a few things that can be improved, are domain-based routing and the slowness of virtual parts, and it may be due to the wrong configuration, which we have been unable to find out.""Citrix should continue to offer a perpetual licensing model because it is very important to us.""The only improvement for Citrix SD-WAN would be to lower its cost.""Citrix SD-WAN's knowledge base has a few missing things, so you may need to seek help from support.""I would like to see more customization to adjust for the WAN lock-out due to our unexpected power outages.""The price could be improved, it's an expensive solution."

More Citrix SD-WAN Cons →

"What I don't like is the fact that I haven't purchased the overall management interface. That is the interface that allows you to manage multiple Exindas. Personally, I think Exinda should provide that for free. I think that if you buy more and more Exinda boxes, you shouldn't then have to incur a charge for the overall management software. While I can manage each Exinda separately, if they provided me with the overall management platform for free that would probably encourage me to buy more appliances.""A lot of working with this solution is really intuitive. I have picked it up mostly on my own. I'm sure that there are some things that maybe I hadn't thought of or really hadn't considered, and I think it would be good just to promote some day courses. I don't really see a whole lot that comes out for Exinda as far as training or informational sessions through our normal resellers. It would be cool to know more about the solution by utilizing educational resources or even have Exinda promoted a bit better.""It should improve the quality of service. It can improve their connection to the internet and your IP.""The updating of applications that the system knows about could be a little quicker. For example, Zoom had been out for a while, but it took a while for it to show up as an application that Exinda could natively handle. We had to write some things in order to handle Zoom, initially.""In terms of improvement, one thing that has always frustrated me about it is that when you look at real-time monitoring, you can only filter it by IP address. You can't filter it by anything else. It would be good if we could filter by VLAN.""There might be room for improvement in the speed and throughput of some of their devices. They're getting a bit slow on some of the bigger devices. It would be helpful if there were some sort of an ISP model."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "You have to negotiate when it comes to pricing and licensing."
  • "You typically will license the hardware and you license the software to access the hardware capabilities. The price will range anywhere from a hundred to $300 a month. There are no additional costs."
  • "The licensing fees depend on the bandwidth. As an example of what we charge our customers, for 100MB without Boost, the price is approximately $2,000. That includes the licensing and the unit."
  • "The pricing for this product is good."
  • "The license could improve for Silver Peak VX."
  • "The price of Silver Peak VX is expensive compared to competitors. There are licenses, renewals, and support that need to be paid."
  • "There is an annual license required to use Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect."
  • "The license for Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect is paid annually."

  • "It's a little bit on the high side compared to the other products."
  • "As NetScaler is now, I find it quite pricey."
  • "The price of the subscription should be cheaper."
  • "It is a bit expensive. A cheaper product would be good, but everybody likes things to be cheaper. We bought the devices up front, and then we pay for the annual support."
  • "The license was a one-time purchase. It's expensive."
  • "It depends on the scale. In our case, it would have been better if we had known about the life cycling steps, but otherwise, it is worth the money."
  • "I believe that Citrix SD-WAN is a good investment, but I do not have the information to be more specific."
  • "I'm not quite sure of the price ranges. Roughly, the hidden devices can scale up to $20K for one appliance. However, the branch CPs are USD $1,000 to $2,500."
  • More Citrix SD-WAN Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is priced well for the market, for what it needs to do."
  • "The pricing and licensing are pretty fair and really competitive. There are other SD-WAN solutions that are pretty costly because they build in a service where they'll manage it for you, which is really great. I don't know if Exinda has that option as well. However, we are a small shop and cost-conscious. For things like this, we are accustomed to self-managing and this solution suits us just fine. For a tool that gives you, like the graphs and reporting, it has a fair price point."

    Reviews from Real Users

“With SD-WAN, they have all the features and benefits they need to send live streaming information to the database and to headquarters without requiring a server at each site. Our other clients have various sites with just one type of communication, say a radio or a mobile network. SD-WAN helps them to combine and get a better bandwidth to balance all their applications and services.” - Business Consultant at a tech services company

“We needed to create some kind of network that was distributed through data and media or big files. It was a retail company, so there were branches, and the branches needed to connect to HQ. We provided HQ and each branch with Citrix SD-WAN. We tried to use it, and it worked well. The transmission was good, and they were losing less data.” - Ruslan M., SMB Sales Director, Regional Business Development Department at Softline
