Amazon EC2 Reviews

EC2 and VPC are two services that are quite interconnected. EC2 is the Amazon console that uses the host resources in the data centers to launch servers,  instances and services with VPC as the networking part. 

This is a great solution that's stable, scalable and simple to implement. 

We sometimes need to change the resource service levels, whether it's to expand or contract. Amazon doesn't offer that option so the way things work now, changes can't be made without scheduling downtime or preventing users from using the service for a period while changes are made. I would like to see servers upgrading or downgrading on the fly without the end user even noticing the change. It would be life-changing for us. 

I've been using this solution for about four years. 

The solution is very stable. There are instances storage servers distributed on multiple hosts in the data centers and even if there's a failure we're unaware of the disruptions. The solution is stable 24/7, 365 days a year, and we know we can rely on it.

The solution is scalable, we have over 1,000 users. 

The initial setup is very straightforward. 

Licensing costs are paid monthly for the whole package. That includes the resources that the server is utilizing, plus the operating system along with any database license, such as Microsoft SQL, that you are using. It's quite expensive.

This is an amazing solution although it's not suitable for every company.
They lose one point because the price is quite high so I rate this product nine out of 10. 

I installed the Windows server using EC2, and I set up some product programs. 

The product is easy to use.

It can scale up.

The product is easy to set up. 

There is no need to have physical space to set up a server in. 

If the solution was cheaper, if the price was less, it would be better. 

I've used the solution for three or four years. 

It is quite a stable, reliable product. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. 

The solution scales very well. People can expand easily.

I'm not sure how many people use the solution. 

I've never contacted technical support. Other colleagues may have; however, I haven't.

We only ever used an on-premises solution. We've never used anything cloud-related. 

The setup is very easy. It's not overly difficult.

We'd like the solution to be cheaper. 

We pay a monthly fee for licensing. I'd rate the pricing five out of ten. 

I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies.

Our company provides customers with business solutions for APIs, data warehousing, and process automation. 

We have many clients and a hybrid model. Certain customers prefer on-premises and the rest run the solution from the cloud.  

The most important aspects are that the solution is scalable and easy to manage.

Amazon provides great services. 

The initial setup could be easier because many keys are required for access. A more concise or shorter cycle for setup is desired. 

I have been using the solution for six months. 

The solution is definitely stable. 

The solution is definitely scalable because it is in the cloud. That is the benefit of moving to cloud-based solutions. 

We have not needed technical support. 

The initial setup is definitely complex. 

We implement the solution for customers. We have a skilled team so deployments are pretty fast with no challenges. 

I rate the solution an eight out of ten. 

We use Amazon EC2 for Windows and Linux systems. Additionally, we use it for UAT and load balancing.

Amazon EC2 could improve by having integration with other cloud systems, such as Azure, and Google Cloud which would be good. Additionally, having integration with on-premise systems would be appreciated.

Most of the clients are worried about getting completely dependent on a cloud provider. For example, if you develop everything using Amazon AWS services, then you get stuck with them, that's a worry today. There are people who are asking for cloud-agnostic implementation or services.

Amazon EC2 is stable.

The scalability of Amazon EC2 is good. However, the stability can depend on what service I am using.

The support is very good, they are customer friendly and use case-based experience.

I rate the support from Amazon EC2 a four out of five.

The initial setup of Amazon EC2  it's not straightforward. You need an Amazon AWS engineer to use it because there is a steep learning curve. It's not very difficult to find someone with AWS skillsets. 

After four years of use if we want to log and create an EC2 instance it is very easy. Once you have a solution architect or you have an Amzon AWS engineer on your team, it's easier to do.

I would recommend this solution to others and Azure. This is a fantastic solution, it provides the basic requirement for any cloud. They make available computing space or a server to use for customers.

I rate Amazon EC2 an eight out of ten.

We use Amazon EC2 for our virtual machines. For example, if a client wants thier website to work with WordPress, we can use EC2 to spin up a virtual machine and then run WordPress in that environment.

The flexibility of the security features is what is interesting.

The only issue with EC2 is that it makes it difficult to install an LLS certificate on your WordPress website that you have deployed inside that virtual machine. That becomes complicated. S3 is straightforward. But when you're hosting with EC2 then it becomes a problem.

I would like to see more user-friendly WordPress licensing. I am referring to WordPress LLS certificates. WordPress-hosted websites, otherwise, are very stable because the RDP never has these issues. 

I am a software developer, I also use it to host my own application service. In our company, we also create systems. I use it to run other servers inside an EC2 virtual machine. It's accessible, and it is stable.

I have been working with Amazon EC2 for three years.

Amazon EC2 is very stable. I have no issues with the stability of Amazon EC2.

Amazon EC2 is a scalable solution.

We have two Amazon EC2 clients.

I have never had to use technical support for Amazon Web Services in general.

I am a consultant on all of the services that I have listed. F3, EC2, WorkMail. Obviously, F3 goes with Route 53.

I have been working with all of the products listed for three years.

I am starting from scratch with support and everything.

WorkMail is a bit expensive per user. That is something they must correct.

They provide excellent service, but it is too expensive for South Africans. We are losing clients because the price my clients pay for email alone is nearly equal to the price they pay for an entire Microsoft Office license, which includes email.

Where they will have Microsoft Word and other productivity tools, as well as email. And you will pay nearly that much for an email with WorkMail. It's far too costly. That is unaffordable.

The initial setup is straightforward.

It works immediately. It's fast.

You pay as you use it.

I would recommend this solution to others who are interested in using it.

I would rate Amazon EC2 a seven out of ten.

I am using Amazon EC2 for migration of on-premise to the cloud.

Our objective is to assist our customers in transitioning their infrastructure to Amazon AWS or another cloud provider. We aim to alleviate their workload by migrating to Amazon EC2. The initial phase involves utilizing Amazon EC2.

The greatest benefit of Amazon EC2 is its versatility, including the diverse range of servers available and the ability to connect to various resources.

Amazon EC2 could improve the console view. The ability to see the console view directly would be helpful, similar to what VMware has. Additionally, when the system is rebooting we are able to see a screenshot of the UI, but it would be a lot better if we could interact directly with the console level.

I have seen a return on investment using Amazon EC2, but I am not sure about our customers. We see the flexibility of the solution where our customers do not.

The licensing of Amazon EC2 is expensive. Microsoft Windows Servers are expensive to license.

If you're planning to use Amazon EC2, I recommend thoroughly testing your servers beforehand. This is especially important if you're migrating from an existing server to Amazon EC2, as there can be issues with transferring the entire image. To avoid any problems, make sure to test the image you're importing before the migration process.

I rate Amazon EC2 an eight out of ten.

I gave my rating of eight because they are lacking in console access.

I am using the tier three Amazon service. I am not going to use another solution other than Amazon EC2 because here in Pakistan there are some payment issues for solutions abroad.

We had a client which has a legacy application that wanted to move to the cloud without a cloud-native solution. What they did was they moved to Amazon EC2 and asked for virtual machines. They had an Oracle database and licenses, they were all provided by the client, and then they all moved to the Amazon EC2 environment.

Amazon EC2's most valuable feature I have heard from clients is easy provisioning. Provisioning is very quick and easy.

Amazon EC2 could improve by reducing the price.

Our client was a large company with approximately 1,000 using the solution.

The support from Amazon EC2 is good. 

The ROI is similar to an on-premise version of my client's operations.

The clients have found the billing of Amazon EC2 good, but the price could be less high. There is a monthly subscription to use the solution.

We have difficulty convincing potential clients of the benefits of using Amazon EC2, from their on-premise setup, when the cost is similar. They don't see the benefits. We face a lot of issues convincing them

I would recommend this solution to others.
