The solution provides GUI control, making it particularly suitable for SMBs and SOHO networks
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution provides GUI control, making it particularly suitable for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and small office/home office (SOHO) networks."
  • "The solution’s GUI should be improved a bit."

What is our primary use case?

We work with various types of switches, including the Aruba 8000 series, 6000 series, 2000 series, and 3000 series, depending on the specific requirements of our customers. We adapt our solutions to meet each customer's unique needs rather than focusing on a single model or type. Customers can easily manage, control, and monitor the solution via Aruba GUI.

What is most valuable?

The solution provides GUI control, making it particularly suitable for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and small office/home office (SOHO) networks. However, for larger enterprise-level organizations, it is recommended to consider Aruba's industrial-grade products.

What needs improvement?

The solution’s GUI should be improved a bit. Nowadays, nobody wants to use CLI (command-line interface). Nobody wants to type a command because they don't have the time to remember it. Hence, they prefer to use GUI products.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Aruba Instant On Switches for the past six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There was only one instance with a stability issue. Aruba Instant On Switches have limitations and aren't suitable for enterprise-level needs. This can result in functionality issues, power-related problems, and other challenges. We tried to tackle the challenge. However, when we required help, our service engineers contacted customer support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Aruba Instant On Switches, I worked with other products. Since I love technology, I learn about all types of technological products, including all types of switches.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s initial setup is very easy.

What about the implementation team?

Our team of engineers are responsible for the installation of the solution.

What other advice do I have?

With respect to GUI, Aruba Instant On Switches has competitors in Cisco, D-Link, and NETGEAR.

Overall, I rate Aruba Instant On Switches a nine out of ten.

Stable solution with good quality service
Pros and Cons
  • "Its customer service is good."
  • "Its scalability needs improvement."

What is our primary use case?

The solution syncs network traffic and shares internet connections with clients.

What needs improvement?

The solution's scalability and pricing need improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution for over seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. I rate its stability as a nine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 30,000 solution users as our customers. It is a scalable solution. Although, it could be more dynamic while scaling the network for high bandwidth.

I rate its scalability as a seven.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's customer service is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Juniper earlier. Its support, scalability, and stability were not up to the mark. Thus, we switched to Aruba.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is easy to install. I rate the setup process as an eight. It takes two to three hours to complete and requires one person for execution. Also, it is easy to maintain and needs three executives for the process.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution could be less expensive. I rate its pricing a six.

What other advice do I have?

The solution provides the best quality of service. I recommend it to others and rate it as a nine.

Have simple deployment and doesn't require many functions
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has a simple deployment and zero border."
  • "It could have an MSP portal version."

What is most valuable?

The solution has a simple deployment and zero border.

What needs improvement?

The solution neither offers advanced features nor security.  It could have an MSP portal version.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Aruba Instant On Switches as a partner for 2-3years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is suitable for medium- to low customer segmentation because it directly addresses. The Instant portal is not available for MSP management, which would be very useful for MSP companies in managing inbound products like switches or access points. This is crucial because we manage many customers using Instant On products.

More than 20 users are using this solution.

The solution’s scalability is easy.

I rate the solution’s scalability a seven to eight out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple and takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the sites.

We need to establish hosting, management IP, and uplink on the port. The management is on the cloud and remote.

What was our ROI?

If you are a company or a startup business, using this one is preferable because it's cheaper, simpler, faster to deploy, and doesn't require many functions.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You don't need the license.

What other advice do I have?

If the company or the customer is a growing enterprise, we change the type of switches.

You need to work as you currently account for assessing the customer before you decide to use Instant On because they may over-expect the R&D feature or expect enterprise features. Its devices cannot supervise it and are only suitable for small to medium businesses. So, if any customer or company wants to grow to the high server, they also need to adjust the type of switches or provide better-advanced features.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

A simple and cost-efficient product that needs to provide better scalability options to its customers
Pros and Cons
  • "The cost and simplicity of the product are its most valuable features."
  • "It is not a very scalable solution."

What is our primary use case?

In my company, I use Aruba Instant On Switches to manage enterprise connectivity.

What is most valuable?

The cost and simplicity of the product are its most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

The product's drawbacks are limited. Aruba Instant On Switches doesn't provide my company with the flexibility that we were expecting from it. The scalability of the product is also limited, because of which we cannot install it on a large scale in our company. In my company, we cannot manage Aruba Instant On Switches in a very easy manner, making the overall tool a little bit complicated to set up and run. The aforementioned areas can be considered for improvement in the solution.

In the future, I would like to see Aruba Instant On Switches with some AI features that can help run and operate the network while also helping its users spot any issues and fix them.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Aruba Instant On Switches for a year and a half. Since Aruba's support contract covers my company, we always get the upgraded and latest version of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution, but it doesn't meet the standards we expect in our company. It is a simple product to use. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is not a very scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten.

Around 70 people in diverse roles, including executive to system technicians, use the solution in my company.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company has worked with products from Cisco, like two years ago. My company chose Aruba Instant On Switches over Cisco due to cost-related reasons.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is deployed on a private cloud, and my company uses the cloud service provided by AWS.

What other advice do I have?

The maintenance part of the solution is taken care of by a system integrator from Aruba's partner.

The product's shortcomings limit the operations of the daily work in our company. Shortly, my company plans to look at other products in the market.

Customers need to consider the drawbacks of Aruba Instant On Switches before buying it.

I rate the overall solution a six and a half out of ten. To be more precise, I rate the overall solution a six out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Well designed, easy to install and easy to configure
Pros and Cons
  • "The dashboard for clients is very nice."
  • "We would like to see more documentation."

What is our primary use case?

This is a hardware solution.

What is most valuable?

The product has a very nice design. The switches are well-designed and work very easily.

The solution is easy to install. It is easy to mount APs and access points and switches, and it is really easy to configure. The pre-configurations are good.

The dashboard for clients is very nice.

It is very stable.

We can scale as needed.

What needs improvement?

Configuring the switches can take some time. The startup and booting take some time. It's too slow.

We would like to see more documentation. Being more expensive than its competitors, Aruba should include more features, documentation being one of them.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't had any issues with the stability or performance. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. We can join two Aruba switches together and use many joints and hold up many access points. We can manage maybe 150 access points with two switches.

We have about 700 users on the product right now.

I'm not sure if we have plans to increase usage at this point.

How are customer service and support?

I don't have any experience with technical support. I've never asked for their help.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Cisco switches.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation process is very simple and straightforward. Configuring one access point takes about 15 minutes. It does not take too long to deploy and test.

We only need two people to handle the initial setup.

What about the implementation team?

I am able to implement the solution myself. I don't need any outside help.

What was our ROI?

We do sometimes see an ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

While I cannot speak to the exact price, it may be a bit more than Meraki.

There are no extra costs beyond the main set price.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did look into other options before ultimately choosing Aruba.

What other advice do I have?

We're partners with Aruba.

We deployed the solution together with Aruba Wireless.

I'd advise users to try out the product.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

We're using version 1930, series 500. It's deployed on-premise.

Reliable with a good user interface and an easy setup
Pros and Cons
  • "It is straightforward to set up."
  • "In general, mostly in Instant On series, if we could have much more control on the switches, at least. We'd like a CLI access so that, when we want to do some advanced configurations we could."

What is our primary use case?

If the customer wants a LAN infrastructure, where they want to communicate with each other, that's the primary use case. That's the primary use case. Also, when they want to deploy IP telephone solutions. When they want to share one common internet between everything they can do so with this. Those are the basic use cases.

What is most valuable?

The user interface is very good.

It is straightforward to set up.

The product is quite stable.

It's scalable.

What needs improvement?

In general, mostly in Instant On series, if we could have much more control on the switches, at least. We'd like a CLI access so that, when we want to do some advanced configurations we could. That would be very beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I'm not a regular implementer. I'm working mostly on the solutions side, pre-sale side. I've been working in the pre-sales with Aruba for quite some time - more than two years. I've been dealing with this solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is not a stackable product, however, you can scale it.

If a company wants to add multiple switches, in general, it's scalable. You would just need to connect an uplink and you will have an extra switch already.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't worked with the technical team yet.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also am familiar with Cisco.

I haven't configured any other switches like Extreme or Ruckus.

One major difference in Cisco is I can convert it only with the Cisco SG series. The 9300 switches work differently. There's only really a comparison between Aruba Instant On switches and Cisco SG switches. In Cisco switches, I find the GUI to be loopy.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is very straightforward to set up. I'd rate it a five out of five in terms of ease of use. There isn't too much to do.

How long it takes to set up varies. It will not take a minute or two minutes to make the switch up and running. That said, if you want to configure multiple VLANs, et cetera, then that is where you'll spend some time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm not involved in the licensing. I can't speak to the exact costs. My understanding is that it is competitively priced. I'd rate it a four out of five in terms of affordability.

What other advice do I have?

We are a reseller.

I'd rate the product eight out of ten. We've been pretty happy with the pricing and capabilities.
