Reviewers say Wiz account representatives are accessible and post-sales support is strong. However, some said Wiz could improve by making information more publicly accessible.
Ease of Deployment: The setup process for AWS GuardDuty is simple and efficient, with quick deployment. In contrast, Wiz's setup is straightforward and speedy, requiring only a short amount of time. Additionally, Wiz provides connectivity to multiple cloud environments and does not require ongoing maintenance.
Pricing: AWS GuardDuty offers a setup cost that is calculated based on the amount of data processed, without any extra charges besides the standard licensing. Some reviewers said that Wiz's pricing is costly compared to other options and expressed concerns about potential changes. Users have also mentioned that Wiz could improve in terms of pricing transparency.
ROI: AWS GuardDuty yielded an ROI by enhancing security posture, fostering trust, and generating business prospects. Wiz offers instant advantages such as enhanced asset management, vulnerability detection, centralized investigations, and real-time analysis. It streamlines procedures, enhances compliance, and provides extensive coverage with limited resources.
Comparison Results: Our reviewers prefer GuardDuty over Wiz. Users appreciate GuardDuty's ability to collect data and send alerts, which allows them to monitor their AWS accounts without incurring extra expenses. GuardDuty also offers threat response and remediation capabilities, timely notifications, and the ability to analyze logs from various sources.
"The way it monitors accounts is definitely a very important feature."
"It helps us detect brute-force attacks based on machine learning."
"The solution will detect abnormalities in the AWS workload and alert us so that we can monitor and take action."
"Deployment is great, and we didn't face any big challenges."
"The out-of-band malware detection from the EBS volumes. It's really cool. No agents or anything needed, it automatically finds and correlates based on malware."
"One of the advantages of cloud services is the ability to use them on demand. There's minimal installation involved; you can check the latest offerings and make new deployments while dismantling the previous ones. This approach keeps you ahead of potential services, showcasing the agility of AWS."
"We have over 1,000 employees, and we monitor their activity through AWS GuardDuty."
"Since our environment is cloud based and accessible from the internet, we like the ability to check where the user has logged in from and what kind of API calls that user is doing."
"I like Wiz's reporting, and it's easy to do queries. For example, it's pretty simple to find out how many servers we have and the applications installed on each. I like Wiz's security graph because you can use it to see the whole organization even if you have multiple accounts."
"With Wiz, we get timely alerts for leaked data or any vulnerabilities already existing in our environment."
"The vulnerability management modules and the discovery and inventory are the most valuable features. Before using Wiz, it was a very manual process for both. After implementing it, we're able to get all of the analytics into a single platform that gives us visibility across all the systems in our cloud. We're able to correspond and understand what the vulnerability landscape looks like a lot faster."
"Out of all the features, the one item that has been most valuable is the fact that Wiz puts into context all the pieces that create an issue, and applies a particular risk evaluation that helps us prioritize when we need to address a misconfiguration, vulnerability, or any issue that would put our environment into risk."
"The automation roles are essential because we ultimately want to do less work and automate more. The dashboards are easy to read and visually pleasing. You can understand things quickly, which makes it easy for our other teams. The network and infrastructure teams don't know as much about security as we do, so it helps to have a tool that's accessible and nice to look at."
"The product supports out-of-the-box reporting with context about the asset and allows us to perform complex custom queries on UI."
"The first thing that stood out was the ease of installation and the quick value we got out of the solution."
"The CSPM module has been the most effective. It was easy to deploy and covered all our accounts through APIs, requiring no agents. Wiz provides instant visibility into high-level risks that we need to address."
"AWS GuardDuty needs to be more customer-oriented."
"Cost changes. It's very expensive. If you turn on every feature, it's more than most commercial vendors. For smaller orgs, that doesn't make sense."
"AWS GuardDuty sometimes shows false positives and should have better detection accuracy."
"An improvement would be to have a mobile version where remote workers can log in and monitor and fix issues."
"There is currently no consolidated dashboard for AWS GuardDuty. It would be helpful if they could provide a dashboard based on severity levels (high, medium, low) and offer insights account-wise, especially for users utilizing automation structures."
"I work in a bank, and it would be good if AWS GuardDuty could be integrated with other monitoring and detection tools we use."
"Because it's a threat detection service, they need to keep up with the various threat factors because new threat factors and attack factors come up all the time."
"For the next release, they could provide IPS features as well."
"The reporting isn't that great. They have executive summaries, but it's only a compliance report that maps all current issues to specific controls. Whether you look at one subscription or project, regardless of the size, you will get a multipage report on how the issues in that account map to that control. Our CSO isn't going to read through that. He won't filter that out or show that to his leadership and say, "Here's what we're doing." It isn't a helpful report. They're working on it, but it's a poor executive summary."
"The solution's container security could be improved."
"The remediation workflow within the Wiz could be improved."
"We would like to see improvements to executive-level reporting and data reporting in general, which we understand is being rolled out to the platform."
"Given the level of visibility into all the cloud environments Wiz provides, it would be nice if they could integrate some kind of mechanism to better manage tenants on multiple platforms. For example, let's say that some servers don't have an application they need, such as an antivirus. Wiz could include an API or something to push those applications out to the servers. It would be great if you could remedy these issues directly from the Wiz platform."
"The only thing that needs to be improved is the number of scans per day."
"We're looking at some of the data compliance stuff that they've got Jon offer. I know they're looking at container security, which we gonna be looking at next."
"The only small pain point has been around some of the logging integrations. Some of the complexities of the script integrations aren't supported with some of the more automated infrastructure components. So, it's not as universal. For example, they have great support for cloud formation and other services, but if you're using another type of management utility or governance language for your infrastructure-as-code automation components, it becomes a little bit trickier to navigate that."
