Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features are the Virtual Private Network and the Electronic Control Lists.""The platform has significantly enhanced our organization's operations by providing secure communication channels between different office locations.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the intrusion prevention system.""The solution has a great UI and a policy deployment mechanism, and all the configuration is easily manageable for the firewalls.""The product's user interface is very easy to use and convenient.""It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""One of the most valuable features of Cisco Secure Firewalls is their seamless integration with other Cisco products.""The solution is quite scalable."

"The most valuable features are Policy Optimizer and Firewall Manager for different brands of firewall.""For the cleanup of firewall rules, it performs really well for us. We utilize it in our regular rule cleanup tasks, several times a year. FireMon is our primary tool when doing that, either by going through its out-of-the-box compliance rules or using it to search for certain things in our rules that we want to prune from our firewalls.""In one report, FireMon tells us there are, say, 1,000 rules that can be taken out and it gives us the ability to disable those for a year and to track when we made our changes. After a year, we can go back and eliminate the rules, to bring the configuration down to an almost human-readable level.""When it comes to real-time compliance management, it is very good because it is able to compare changes in the configuration as well as giving us a timestamp. It also sends email alerts to our environment so we know if someone has made a change on the network. It gives us the whole picture of that change. Whether it is a configuration change or just a small comment, it gives us the before and after snapshot.""It provides us with a single pane of glass for our on-prem environment, to see configuration. We have not implemented into the cloud yet. We can search for an object group and see where it lives on any firewall in the enterprise or find security rules, no matter what firewall they're on.""Vendor agnostic when it comes to integrating with other product.""The firewall assessment feature is great.""The automation that the platform provides to create tickets reduces human error and more generally, reduces the operational overhead."

Cons
"The interface is an area that could be improved.""Cisco firewalls use old ESR or a Linux system, and there are problems with encryption. When we switch on encryption, the throughput goes down.""The solution could improve the number of ports available and load balancing.""The solution should improve the user interface.""The product's setup could be easier.""I had a challenging time trying to size the firewall on the cloud. Maybe the information is there, but I couldn't find it easily. Usually, it depends on the cloud provider itself, whether you use AWS or Azure. These guys give you the information, so this part is not as detailed.""Some duplicated values and security standards are not working in some high-application protocols with Cisco's next-generation firewalls.""It's not very user-friendly and can be somewhat disorganized."

"We have had some stability issues that are affecting operations. We rely heavily on this solution and if it isn't working then we have to create rules manually.""The cost of the solution is pretty expensive. It would be ideal if they could work on their pricing.""Our firewalls have multiple paths through them and FireMon falls short a little bit because it's not Palo Alto-centric. I don't think FireMon has kept up with where Palo Alto is at. They started out being Check Point-centric for years and they've never really fully embraced the nuances others, like Palo Alto or Fortinet, have. They don't handle a lot of the capabilities and attributes that Palo Alto does yet. They're working on it. They're getting there.""Policy Planner requirements section is good, but could use some improvement to allow flexibility to enter different types of requests (modifying an existing policy, object or service group, for example) in a structured task format that can be auto-verified.""We're working on implementing FireMon with our ticketing system service now. Having that would be an improvement.""The advanced features are complex in setting up the rules.""The stability has been fairly decent, but there have been a few issues. My coworker has had some issues in the past where he has had to work with support.""A phone app would be nice. This is the reason why it is not perfect yet."
