Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It generates very detailed reports, which makes things easier when it comes to IT auditing."
"It has a lot of stock reports. I believe over 300 canned reports, which for the most part meet a lot of generic needs."
"The platform's most valuable features are data protection and retention."
"The deduplication is probably the most valuable feature of that requirement."
"This is a stable solution."
"I can increase the tool's licensing as per my requirement with no conditions applied."
"The solution is easy to use, flexible and has a lot of out-of-the-box functionality. You can configure the dashboards or you can use a script. However, to fully utilize its capabilities you will want to use a lot of scripts which you will need advanced training. The reports can be customized for many things, such as chargeback billing."
"The reporting feature and the Dell's continuous improvement of the solution are the most valuable features. The solution not only supports Dell Power Products but also other products."
"The backup capabilities and the automatization of the backup - along with the potential to make the back up on a virtual machine - are the solution's most valuable aspects."
"I feel that it is a good product."
"The possibility of recovering up-to-the-moment data is very useful."
"The software is quite complicated and useful for large corporations using different information systems."
"Technical support for this solution is very good."
"The initial setup is very easy. It's incredibly fast."
"Anybody could drive the GUI."
"It is scalable software. All you need to increase is its RAM and CPU. It's pretty easy."
"The solution requires more integration with our other solutions. I know that they have full integration with VMware because it is also from EMC. However, we have to have better integration with Microsoft and Nutanix as well."
"The functionality of the Data Protection Advisor is limited and is something that is lacking in this solution. Other solutions like CloudIQ and DDMC provide a much better outlook on how data protection should be done."
"It's a bit difficult for first-time users."
"We have encountered issues where we were unable to pull data from the database server. It should also improve the backward compatibility."
"Dell Data Protection Advisor's feature for data domain protection needs enhancement."
"There is a steep learning curve to use the interface and to create new reports, this could be made easier. If the solution could provide more drag and drop functionality to build more advanced reports that would be very helpful."
"The stability of the solution needs improvement for stand alone users."
"They should empower their customers with the ability to upgrade this solution as long as it's in the same major release."
"The price could be cheaper."
"We have faced problems with the initial configuration of the solution."
"The user interface has to be improved"
"Reporting templates could be easier to understand and more comprehensive."
"It is not easy to understand and deploy. It is complex in nature. Simplicity is not there. When we deploy it, the customer always needs some training from us. To make it user friendly, there should be one agent that can be used to back up every product. Dell EMC NetWorker uses so many user agents. In PowerProtect Data Manager, you can just install its VM, import that VM into vCenter, and you can start to do backups directly from vCenter. However, in Dell EMC NetWorker, you always need one server, and from that server, you need to initiate all backups. You must know the interface and the CLI. It is not user friendly. It would be a great feature if we can deploy Dell EMC NetWorker on a virtual machine, like Avamar. The additional features that are required in Dell EMC NetWorker are already available in PowerProtect Data Manager and Avamar. Therefore, there is no need to enhance Dell EMC NetWorker. It would be better if they can just rename it to PowerProtect Data Manager or Avamar."
"We would like support for tape space reclaim, using either the same or another pool."
"The configuration is too complex."
"It's complex in nature."
