"Integration with HP storage is a very strong point for Micro Focus Data Protector. It is the best solution for general operations like backup and restore. Zero downtime backup (ZDB) is one very important feature, which is basically the integration with the storage array. It is a very strong feature. We're using storage with snapshots with this integration.""What I like the most about this solution is that I can change and access the Oracle backup file.""The normal file system backup is easy to manage, and our success rate is quite high.""Data Protector is quite simple and easy to deploy. The deployment is always the same. It's on a server, and the agents are deployed to the machines in a straightforward way. We have two engineers who deploy and manage all our backup solutions.""This solution is quite stable because we have only three users.""Regarding scalability, it's unlimited with Data Protector. You can link multiple installations and let them work together. They can share backup devices. You have many possibilities with Data Protector. It's very proficient.""The most valuable feature of Data Protector is its integration with VMware. A lot of software these days integrates with VMware, and you can run some of these things on virtual machines. You can even have your backup manager running on a virtual machine and use physical managers to move data around. Their VMware integration isn't too bad, but Commvault has that feature, and many other backup products do.""It's user-friendly and not overly complicated to configure."

Cons
"A lot of improvement is required in Dell's first level of support.""The Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager reports could improve. The compression ratio should be improved as well as the efficiency.""As a new product, there are some things that still need to improve a bit as it matures.""You need to use additional software to back up entire environments. It will be good if they could support entire tape libraries.""Management is difficult and it is hard to determine when things aren't working properly."

"We face challenges with its stability.""We faced some certification issues after we upgraded to version 10.2.""Virtualization.""The interface has been the same for many years and needs to be updated""Micro Focus Data Protector must improve its overall evolution record. They need to focus on hardware based instant recovery, client recovery, and cloud ability. Now there is no cloud ability.""Faster VEAgent Restores""It would be ideal if they could improve their level of support.""They should design the solution so that it is much easier for deployment and make the UI easy to use."
