We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The tool's most valuable feature is restriction.""All features available are good.""Instead of manually tagging data, Immuta’s auto-discovery capability identifies sensitive information, such as country labels, gender information, and other personal data.""What I appreciate the most is its user-friendliness."

"I like Purview's data discovery features. It automatically scans and identifies all the fields. In the last project, the customer required us to have some of the codes we specified in this, and we had to structure the codes in a specific way. We can define the structure.""I don't know if I've gotten much value out of Purview personally, but our security team loves it. Our biggest concern is leakage or theft of our data because we have a lot of PII and stuff that has not been released. We like the insights Purview provides and the way the solution can track and manage things. I'd say that was probably their favorite piece of it so far. From everything the security team has told me, the policy management and DLP features are working spectacularly.""From my experience and customer feedback, one of the most valuable features of Microsoft Purview is ease of use, especially for content hosted within Microsoft 365 and Azure. I also like that the pricing model for the solution is reasonable.""MIP also provides strong information rights management settings, such as the ability to specify who has access to content and at what time.""Microsoft Purview is scalable.""Has a good interface and is reasonably priced.""The availability of pre-designed policies tailored to specific geolocations and customer requirements is a valuable feature.""Data authentication enables us to classify documents based on whether they should be restricted for internal consumption or permitted for external sharing."

Cons
"The implementation process with Immuta was quite challenging, primarily due to issues related to database handling and the syncing of user groups.""We have had some challenges with their support when we were migrating to the cloud version. We we had some issues, and it took us several attempts to get a proper responses as part of that migration.""There is room for improvement in enhancing the monitoring capabilities.""Immuta is behind in updating upgrades and software releases."

"We've had a few issues with the scanner. It runs perfectly one day, and on another day, it will run the whole night. It's probably related to the rules. If I set some compliance rules and apply the rules to any column, I can't delete it. I have to disable it and reactivate it.""Although you can explore the data, that creates a great interest in data lineage or the data flow. How does it go from a source to a platform to a Power BI report, for example? It is possible, to some extent, to see that with Purview, but the lineage feature requires some manual work on the development side or more work from Microsoft to improve on it.""Running eDiscovery once a day takes quite a long time because it has to fetch your data. I also want the eDiscovery results to be improved. At the same time, I would like to get a centralized page where I could see records management applied to my Office 365 tenant visualized instead of waiting for a custom script to run through the complete tenant.""Frequent daily updates from Microsoft can cause interface elements like buttons to appear and disappear, making navigation unpredictable.""Purview's data connector platform for non-Microsoft data sources is good, but there is some functionality that hasn't been developed yet. There are some servers that it can't connect to yet, because they're still in a trial process.""Blueprints and landing zones like we have in Azure would be great to see in Purview. The solution could offer a baseline or blueprint of recommended settings for compliance regulations such as GDPR and ISO, which could be applied with a simple switch in the options.""The API needs some improvement when connecting to non-Microsoft API sources. This is a limiting factor.""It supports only a limited number of tools and technologies that pertain to Microsoft products. If you want to leverage other solutions such as Workday or Oracle Fusion, features will be coming up, but as of now, it is for the Microsoft suite."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Immuta's pricing is expensive."
  • More Immuta Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The pricing is moderate. It's not too expensive, but it's not the most competitive."
  • "Microsoft Purview is the best option I have encountered when it comes to price. Maybe some of my information is outdated, but Microsoft offered it so that you could use it almost without paying."
  • "There is some competition out there, but the other solutions are quite expensive. They are enterprise tools that are a bit more mature but the license costs $100,000 for some of them. Purview is pay-per-use and a lot of companies are interested in that."
  • "Aside from the complexity of the pricing model, the price itself is realistic. Features like AI components and automatic classification require additional licenses. Still, anyone can start using Purview with a basic E3 license if they're using Microsoft 365 and grow with additional licenses as needed. Overall, we're satisfied with the price."
  • "Its pricing is good in terms of the features that they are providing, but there are many competitors in the market who can easily provide you with similar services at a lesser cost."
  • "The categorization within the licensing could be improved. There are a lot of solutions within Microsoft Purview. If the licensing could be a bit clearer and the solutions could be better categorized according to function and across multiple environments, that would be excellent. The licensing is very confusing."
  • "Price-wise, I think it's very generous and accessible to not just enterprises but small to medium-sized companies as well. I think it's very fair in terms of how they break apart the storage and the actual computing, and that makes it very accessible. So, that is a very big plus for Purview."
  • "Some people find the tier licensing system complicated, but it offers a lot of value for money if we use the features."
