We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's a good product that's pretty easy to use.""What I like the most about this solution is that I can change and access the Oracle backup file.""The dashboards in Micro Focus Data Protector are very good. They are similar to the dashboards in Veeam Backup & Replication.""Micro Focus Data Protector's most valuable feature is its interaction with the fiber share. It is easy to use, we use it to back up without any problem to VTLs, and can use the Fiber Channel that is still the TCP.""Data Protector's GUI is the most useful feature.""The reliability of HP Data Protector is the most valuable feature for us.""I have used Micro Focus Data Protector for the file backup facilities. My primary use of the software is to backup file data.""The installation was simple and provided an easy way to install even on Unix servers. It has excellent features like deduplication."

"The unit has been running at 100% without an issue.""It has improved our backup and recovery window, because you can have two Reduxio machines linked up, so every block that changes on the primary storage array gets replicated to the secondary storage array. If one side or the other goes bad, you just recover from the other side.""The Reduxio unit is superior in its ability to recover from any second.""Write latency is averaging way under a millisecond.""We are getting 4.4:1 data reduction, which means we will be able to squeeze over 120TB into 2U. This is more than enough capacity for us.""The biggest feature, and one of the reasons we use it with the file shares, is its continuous Snapshotting. We can go back to almost to any point in time, not only to last night at midnight or a week ago, but 10 minutes ago or three-hours-and-so-many-seconds, or whatever the case may be. We already had a brush with ransomware in the past, so it's good to know we can dial back to just before a mishap happens.""One of the beautiful parts about it is the whole user interface. It's almost too simple. As an IT professional, you think, "Where are the works, how am I assured that this is actually protecting my data?" The ease of use in terms of deployment, and also the metrics that it feeds back to you are also among the many attractive features of the whole platform.""Reduxio requires zero upfront setup for backups. I get backups every single second for as long as I want with zero impact to performance."

Cons
"In general, you can say that Micro Focus Data Protector is behind in capabilities when compared with other backup solutions, such as Commvault, Symantec, NetBackup, but it is very strong for certain use cases such as array integration. We are using it in production even now. There should be some kind of cloud integration and archiving solutions. I think this is the area they need to focus on.""VMware backup integration and cloud recovery is lacking.""We have a lot of requests for the Micro Focus team, particularly in terms of the Japanese data pattern, as it's not as good now. The Japanese data pattern accuracy of the Micro Focus Data Protector needs to be improved because there are a lot of false negatives and false positives. We are currently testing this and our product team has been communicating with the Micro Focus team.""I would like to see a better user interface in the next release.""In terms of what can be improved, I would say integrations with MongoDB. We use MongoDB and we need to go to scripts to do backups. We need more integrations.""Micro Focus Data Protector must improve its overall evolution record. They need to focus on hardware based instant recovery, client recovery, and cloud ability. Now there is no cloud ability.""The scheduler setup could be better. We are facing some issues scheduling the job based on our requirements.""Faster VEAgent Restores"

"If Reduxio could manage multiple Reduxio systems within the same dashboard, or manage them as a single mode, it be very, very helpful for us.""Maybe it should come in stainless steel, just like its DeLorean time machine predecessor.""There is only thing I can think of at the moment, that would be detailed printable reports.""The latest release limits web access to the admin console via Chrome only, and that's a bit of a hassle. Would definitely prefer something less restrictive there.""A centralized management would be nice, the ability to manage all cluster in one management portal.""the only thing I would say negative about Reduxio is the cabling was a little bit confusing at first, but now that we understand it, it's easy. It was just so different from what we've seen before. That was the only hard part to get used to. The storage array is fully redundant, so there are some cross-connect cables that you have to run, from the A side to the B side, and the B side back to the A side, and we've just never seen anything like that before. But now that I understand the design, it makes complete sense. But initially it was confusing.""The only critique that we have is it needs the ability to have local users added. You have to log in as one built-in admin account. You can't create your own.""The ability to look at data at a file level would be useful, as well as the ability recover at that level. Right now, you can only recover whole volumes."
