We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The initial setup is very easy.""The most valuable feature of Data Protector is its integration with VMware. A lot of software these days integrates with VMware, and you can run some of these things on virtual machines. You can even have your backup manager running on a virtual machine and use physical managers to move data around. Their VMware integration isn't too bad, but Commvault has that feature, and many other backup products do.""The feature that was most valuable was that we could restore one mailbox and we could do different backups for different databases.""I have used Micro Focus Data Protector for the file backup facilities. My primary use of the software is to backup file data.""The installation was simple and provided an easy way to install even on Unix servers. It has excellent features like deduplication.""The initial setup is straightforward if you understand Data Protector.""The solution is easy to use.""It works excellently only with Oracle."

"The initial setup was straightforward. It's not complicated. It takes around half an hour to implement, but it depends on the performance of the server that you are installing the backup software on.""The only thing I really like about it is that you can deploy it from Backup and Replication onto a virtual Linux machine.""It's most compatible with VMware. It can restore single files instead of having to restore the whole machine, once again leading to savings for the company.""The most valuable feature is the ability to pick up individual files.""The flexibility and user-friendliness of Veeam make it very IT operations-friendly.""The ease of use for the graphical interface and the ease of installation are the most valuable features of this solution.""What I found most valuable in Veeam Agent for Linux is that it can unify machines and even simplify management.""The solution is very user-friendly and has an easy to use interface. We can manage it easily. It allows for a simple backup."

Cons
"VMware backup integration and cloud recovery is lacking.""The scheduler setup could be better. We are facing some issues scheduling the job based on our requirements.""In SAP restoration, we faced issues with changing the SIDs and changing the path for every backup object. It is quite a lengthy process to do that.""If you compare the solution with the same specific features and enhancements on another solution, Data Protector is expensive. This is especially true when compared to, for example, Veeam.""They should design the solution so that it is much easier for deployment and make the UI easy to use.""Many of our users complain about the GUI. You still need to rely on the command line interface. Because it originated as a Unix system, Data Protector is still a command line-driven solution, which makes it seem rather dated compared to systems that are built around a GUI from day one. It doesn't affect the functionality, but some people don't find it user-friendly.""It's very expensive compared to Veeam and other similar solutions.""We're not satisfied with the robustness and stability of the software since Micro Focus took it in-house. The GUI is one thing they could improve. It's still a bit archaic. Data Protector needs a more functional, user-friendly GUI."

"In new releases, I hope they can support Oracle cloud.""In terms of the physical environment, I'd like them to integrate it with other kinds of solutions. We don't just work with Microsoft or Linux, but other kinds of infrastructure data as well.""One problem in Veeam Agent for Linux is that you can't use your license for all your machines because you don't have a virtual machine, so if you're going to add machines and scale, you'd need to pay extra.""We are currently waiting for the continuous backup process.""In the next version, I would like to see an increase in the locations online. I have found that other products have good pickup location.""Scalability, if you are talking about Linux, is good. However, if you need to backup more types of solutions or Unix systems, like HP/UX, AIX, etc., it's not compatible.""I would like to be able to install Veeam directly to Linux instead of having to go through a Windows server.""There isn't much to improve. They just need to follow the trend or the development of other Linux products. Follow in terms of making the product compatible with new versions of Linux. They just need to include as many versions for Linux as possible."
