We performed a comparison between Quest NetVault and Veeam Agent for Linux [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Zerto, Commvault and others in Backup and Recovery."The user interface is good."
"The solution allows us to block off our network and only give access to whatever we want."
"If a job is pending, the solution communicates it to us through emails."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"It has File and SQL backup, which is the main benefit for us."
"Having the web-based interface is important to us because we can access it from any computer in the network, rather than having it installed and available for use only on a specific one."
"The initial setup is straightforward. It's not that complicated. Deployment took maybe about 15 minutes."
"Its dashboard is quite well done. When you log into the GUI, you can basically see everything you need to know. There is also the possibility to edit the view as you like, which is great."
"It is scalable."
"The only thing I really like about it is that you can deploy it from Backup and Replication onto a virtual Linux machine."
"The technical support is good."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to pick up individual files."
"It's simple to use."
"Veeam has a "next, next, finish" installer, and the overall deployment is straightforward. The deployment is easy because Veeam is compatible with all our VMware services and VMs. Veeam Backup and Veeam ONE are integrated into vCenter or vSphere site deployments, so we don't need to deploy each server one by one."
"It's most compatible with VMware. It can restore single files instead of having to restore the whole machine, once again leading to savings for the company."
"The user interface is good."
"The storage capacity is very low."
"In the next version, I would like to see support for the MongoDB database. As it is now, there is no component that works with it and we cannot back the data up using NetVault."
"There are command-line limitations. There is not a very strong possibility to work with the command line. The commands that are there are not that powerful, and you need to be very good at scripting, for example, in PowerShell or in Bash in case it is running on Linux systems. You need to combine a lot of commands together, and still, you will not get a great output that is presentable to others. You cannot work with it as easily."
"There are certain issues with the product that we report to Quest, and we get offered a workaround instead of a fix. There could be better interaction with the development teams, perhaps in terms of transparency."
"The interface can be improved. It should be more clear what features are available and make them easy to find."
"The stability of the solution is poor."
"I would like to see the option of cloud-based management."
"The product’s SQL backup plugin needs improvement."
"In new releases, I hope they can support Oracle cloud."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Linux could be reduced."
"In terms of the physical environment, I'd like them to integrate it with other kinds of solutions. We don't just work with Microsoft or Linux, but other kinds of infrastructure data as well."
"They could be more customer-friendly."
"More Linux systems should be made compatible with the solution."
"The pricing could be lowered if possible."
"It's scalable, but it's not scalable on every platform."
"It would be much better if more applications were supported on the Linux side. For example, their agent for Windows not only can back up the Windows machine, but it can also back up Active Directory for granular restore, SQL servers, Exchange, Oracle, SharePoint, etc. When it comes to Linux, only Oracle databases are supported. There are workarounds, though."
