We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"SolarWinds Virtualization Manager is a great tool that is easy to use...It is a stable solution.""The most valuable features of SolarWinds Virtualization Manager are the non-Windows servers' monitoring and capacity planning."

More SolarWinds Virtualization Manager Pros →

"It has also definitely reduced the time to troubleshoot issues. The fact that it gives us that single pane of glass to look for stuff, that's the first stop whenever we start troubleshooting.""If the network goes down between our office and one of our data centers then it is able to detect that. It will provide you ways to get a deeper understanding of the issues, and it will suggest resolutions.""VMware provides good support. We are a GSS customer which means that we have global support with a dedicated engineer from VMware's side so we have no issues with support.""From an admin and operations perspective, the solution is intuitive and user-friendly.""Alerts and monitoring were most valuable. It was also pretty user-friendly and interactive. I was able to generate good reports in PDF and HTML formats, which was really helpful.""Its technical support team responds quickly.""It gives us a better look into performance, a better look into right-sizing, a better look at possible issues or, more so, trends.""There are many valuable features. The top feature is historical trending analysis and future workload predictions. There's a workload forecaster/predictor model in there and it's very helpful for capacity planning."

Cons
"The problem or issue with the product is related to its pricing.""The SolarWinds Virtualization Manager platform in general can have a better response time in the performance."

More SolarWinds Virtualization Manager Cons →

"If I had to think of one thing that could be improved, I would probably lean towards making it easier to pull dashboards from vRealize Operations into other products, like a company-branded dashboard that would display in a NOC.""In some respects, the UI is pretty stale. It has been that way from the beginning. Some easier ways to create custom dashboards for management, versus the tech guys, versus administrators, that would be helpful.""The initial setup was very straightforward. From the web interface, you can literally just go straight into actually installing vROps with very little previous knowledge required to get it up and running.""Some of the more advanced stuff takes a bit of time to dig into it. It takes a little longer to setup if you want really detailed stuff. They could make the learning curve smoother.""If I had a container solution deployed on top of a VMware infrastructure, or outside as well, it would be really helpful.""I would like to see them bring in metrics for other things in the infrastructure, not just the virtual infrastructure: for example, being able to bring in metrics from my arrays themselves or my fiber channel switches or my ethernet switches. Being able to collect that data would help in being able to lay a holistic view on top of how my entire system is functioning, from the hypervisor all the way down to my end-point.""The solution must provide better training options to help us make the most of the tool.""I wouldn't say that this solution is user-friendly. You need to know a lot of tricks to know how to use it. It's quite buggy and quite slow when it comes to loading."

  • "The pricing: It's expensive."
  • "Pricing is good for us. We're non-profit so we get a break on that."
  • "I would like to see a free offering. Cost is always a factor in any sort of line. Obviously, the value added is there and it's worth it."
