Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I can increase the tool's licensing as per my requirement with no conditions applied.""The solution is easy to use, flexible and has a lot of out-of-the-box functionality. You can configure the dashboards or you can use a script. However, to fully utilize its capabilities you will want to use a lot of scripts which you will need advanced training. The reports can be customized for many things, such as chargeback billing.""The platform's most valuable features are data protection and retention.""The deduplication is probably the most valuable feature of that requirement.""It generates very detailed reports, which makes things easier when it comes to IT auditing.""The initial setup is very straightforward. Deployment typically takes about one hour. You just need one person to handle the deployment process.""This is a stable solution.""The reporting feature and the Dell's continuous improvement of the solution are the most valuable features. The solution not only supports Dell Power Products but also other products."

"Druva Phoenix is easy to use and easy to start with.""Once you set it up and you tell it exactly what needs to be backed up, you literally forget about it. It sends you emails and notifications of the current status of the jobs.""I found the cost-effectiveness of Druva Phoenix to be its most valuable feature, especially when compared to on-premises backup solutions.""I would definitively say that we have been able to make our people more productive by at least 30%.""The most valuable features of Druva Phoenix are the simple portal to log in and flexibility."

Cons
"Customization of reports or creating new reports can be difficult. Users need to have a deep knowledge of SQL. 70-80% of customers can't seem to understand how to do it. They don't know how to address reporting. If Dell EMC could simplify it, it would benefit the end-user.""There is a steep learning curve to use the interface and to create new reports, this could be made easier. If the solution could provide more drag and drop functionality to build more advanced reports that would be very helpful.""We have encountered issues where we were unable to pull data from the database server. It should also improve the backward compatibility.""The functionality of the Data Protection Advisor is limited and is something that is lacking in this solution. Other solutions like CloudIQ and DDMC provide a much better outlook on how data protection should be done.""It is difficult to manage the solution with the available tools. You need to know exactly what are you are doing.""Dell Data Protection Advisor's feature for data domain protection needs enhancement.""The solution requires more integration with our other solutions. I know that they have full integration with VMware because it is also from EMC. However, we have to have better integration with Microsoft and Nutanix as well.""The stability of the solution needs improvement for stand alone users."

"Druva Phoenix is optimized to work with x86 platforms, making it unsuitable for backing up non-x86 architectures like AIX. The solution is primarily designed for physical Linux and Windows systems based on the x86 architecture, as well as virtualized Windows and Linux environments. However, if you have an AIX system, it cannot be deployed in the cloud, and therefore, backing it up in the cloud is not a concern.""There is room for improvement in the reporting aspect of Druva Phoenix.""They were able to give us a very reasonable price considering we were non-for-profit organizations, however, there is always room for improvement on that cost.""Druva Phoenix should include a few reporting features that it doesn't provide currently."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It's not very expensive — I think the price is fair."
  • "You have to procure the license when you are ordering or quoting for Dell Data Protection Suite (DPS). DPS is bundled with the suite and comes with a license. However, if you purchase NetWorker separately then you will have to procure the license for DPS separately."
  • "For pricing, I would rate Dell 2 out of 5. It's affordable."
  • "You need to make an upfront payment for three, five, or seven years and renew the licenses for support. We can do an annual maintenance contract with Dell. I would rate the product's pricing a six out of ten."
  • "If the customer has huge lineup of Dell Products then they receive discount on the pricing."
  • "The product is affordable."

  • "We’ve had experience with the data center for a while and we have had solutions that were able to support older versions of the operating systems that we needed. I would like for Druva to support it as well."
  • "Druva Phoenix's pricing is based on the service provided, and it's reasonable. The cost of the service will depend on the size of your data and the number of virtual machines being backed up. However, the pricing structure is straightforward and easy to understand."
  • "I assume clients use Druva Phoenix because it is cheaper than other products."
