We performed a comparison between Datto Cloud Continuity and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."The recovery time objective and recovery point objective were most valuable. It was easy to use, and it was easy to recover a file. I was the head of sales and a product evaluator for an MSSP, so I never had to deal with recovery from ransomware. However, I was confident that if ransomware had occurred, I would only lose a maximum of 59 minutes of data. The files were encrypted."
"The solution's reliability is one of its most valuable features...It is a very stable solution."
"Datto has strong competition, but they succeeded in linking their service to the device. It's easy for managed service providers to sell and upsell products using their portal and the remote monitoring and maintenance."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"The solution has the capability to scale well."
"The platform provides a faster backup process."
"The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license."
"The initial setup, if it is error-free, is very simple."
"Application awareness is very good and the speed of this solution is good."
"The solution is very affordable for small businesses."
"I like working on the Azure platform."
"If you have windows machine at home and you'd like a backup, you can always download their free edition and plug in an external hard disk, and do a full backup of your laptop."
"The most valuable feature is that it's a VMware environment."
"The initial setup is very straightforward."
"At the time I was using it, I would've focused more on signatures of malicious software in the cloud. I love Datto, and I know they're on the right path, but I probably would've focused more on the operating system update management. When you go from the desk to the cloud or from the server room to the cloud, everything changes. Everything is different. You're not in control of your servers anymore. It is from the Active Directory management perspective and not from the perspective of zero-day attacks or other similar things. At the time, more focus on zero-day attacks and business email compromise (BEC) would've been a better protection factor than just educating about how many of these attacks have occurred."
"The product's scalability features could be even better."
"They are now providing the device instead of selling it, while wanting their users to sign a three-year contract, and this is something which my clients don't like...I dislike the fact that signing a three-year contract is required."
"Datto's only shortcoming is RMM. They have a portal-based connection service like ConnectWise, but it does backups and keeps things running. Datto purchased Backupify and Kaseya bought Datto. If they upped the ante in their RMM, I could see them dominating the MSP space. At the end of the day, MSPs are responsible for networks, software, devices, and backup. Datto covers all these functions so they could offer a turnkey MSP solution."
"I don't have any feedback to provide in terms of features that may be lacking."
"The fact that Datto Cloud Continuity is not cheap is one of the aspects that I don't like about the product, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Troubleshooting is very hard."
"The stability of this solution needs to be improved."
"I would like to see the ability for incremental backups and reverse backups."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive."
"There are not many options available for AIX backup. They provide the agent for AIX, but it could be more mature."
"There really are no cons. The product simply has to maintain development to keep up with changes in the operating system."
"I would like to have a more automated installation process."
