We performed a comparison between NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."The solution’s unified file and block-storage access across our infrastructure is invaluable. Without it, we can't do what we do."
"The main benefit we get from this product is the ability to deploy it anywhere we want, whether that's on-prem, a remote physical location, or in the cloud. It doesn't matter from an operational perspective where it is. The command line and operating system are the same."
"The stability has been really good."
"The most valuable features are that it's reliable, simple, and performs well."
"The most valuable features of this solution are SnapShot, FlexClone, and deduplication."
"It offers ease of use and a comprehensive suite of applications, including features like SnapMirror, SnapVault, and unified snapshot management, all bundled into a single product."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it makes our data readily available and we don't have to go through a lot of trouble to access it."
"Another feature which gets a lot of attention in our environment is the File Services Solutions in the cloud, because it's a completely, fully-managed service. We don't have to take care of any updates, upgrades, or configurations."
"We found the initial setup to be quite simple."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."
"The solution is meeting all of our client's requirements. It has good performance."
"Application awareness is very good and the speed of this solution is good."
"It is good and easy to use for backing up physical servers. It is working fine, and it is stable and scalable."
"Technical support is good. They're very responsive. It depends on the timezone responding, but I usually get a response within three hours of creating a ticket."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to navigate inside a backup point to look for a specific folder or data you want to recover."
"The most valuable features are backup and restore. This solution is also easy to use."
"The dashboard is a little bit clunky. I like to see it a little bit more on the simplistic side. I would like to be able to create my own widgets and customize what I want to see a little bit more versus what is currently there. That would be helpful so that when I log in, I go straight to my widget or my board without going to multiple places to get to what I need to find or build."
"I would like to see better integration with Active IQ."
"There is room for improvement in tier one support, especially with potential language barriers and communication challenges."
"The encryption and deduplication features still have a lot of room for improvement."
"The DR has room for improvement. For example, we now have NetApp in Western Europe and we would like to back up the information to another region. It's impossible. We need to bring up an additional NetApp in that other region and create a Cloud Manager automation to copy the data... I would prefer it to be a more integrated solution like it was in the NetApp solution about a year ago. I would like to see something like AltaVault but in the cloud."
"I rate the scalability a five out of ten."
"There is room for improvement with the capacity. There's a very hard limit to how many disks you can have and how much space you can have. That is something they should work to fix, because it's limiting. Right now, the limit is about 360 terabytes or 36 disks."
"When it comes to support provided by NetApp, they have room for improvement. Every time we go through their support, we end up answering the same routine questions."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"There should be an option to use the solution for physical machines."
"I am not very impressed by the technical support I received when I had an issue."
"Maybe in the future, they could do something better with the user interface and the performance, but so far it's a really good, efficient solution."
"I would like there to be more integration with other platforms."
"They should improve the solution's automation features."
