Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product's most valuable feature is extensibility.""We were with Oracle previously. With Oracle, you have to buy a different piece of software for every business process. If you want to do budgeting, that's a product. If you want to do consolidation, that's a product. If you want to do BI type of work, that's yet another product. So, you end up buying a lot of software from Oracle. With OneStream, it is a little different. It is a platform where you can do all those things, and you can do them with just one software purchase and then you just pay for users on it.""It offers great ease of use. This impacts not only the end-user experience but also the administrator's, which affects the total cost of ownership."

"This solution provides a more structured methodology for doing analysis than a tool like Excel. It creates a central database that keeps all information in one place.""Hyperion is helpful for all our budget processes.""It's very easy to use and the functionality is quite complete.""The most valuable features are those associated with modules and SP, IT in this space, planning, HFM, and PME.""We can integrate with any system and pull data from SAP or SQL Server. We can also design our own role files to establish how we pull the file data and store it in our database.""The roll-up potential of the product is very good, meaning we have detailed information and we want it to be summarized, based on geography, based on different product lines, or based on different charts of accounts in the general ledger. It rolls up the information in a very concise way. This makes it easy to understand the overall performance, for it's forecasting aspects, or quarterly reporting, year to year, or month to month reporting.""Scalability is one of this solution's big plus points.""Oracle Hyperion has helped make things work faster in our company."

Cons
"Currently, they only support one browser, and it would be good if you could use it on Chrome, Firefox, etc. It is a little frustrating that you can only use a certain Microsoft browser. They're pretty tightly aligned with Microsoft. So, I can see the reasons for it.""AI is where I see the most innovation and progress, but it's not fully developed yet.""We should be able to download the data in the same format we upload it."

More OneStream XF Cons →

"The Oracle technical support in our area is terrible.""The analytical side of the product could be better and needs to be improved.""I have a problem with Hyperion when I need to log some changes in the budget. It's hard to know who made which changes in the budget.""The forecasting of values could be simplified in this solution.""Their documentation could be a little bit more descriptive at places. They don't really do a lot of How-Tos because that gets pushed through to the consulting groups. There have been some books. There is a real good one out there about how to look smarter than you are with Hyperion Planning that some people at a company called ArganoInterRel wrote. Those things do exist, but that's not in their documentation. It's basically like they'll say, "This is the field. This is what it's used for," but they don't tell you how to particularly use it in your case environment.""From a technical perspective, the technical support could be improved and the price could be reduced.""We are still having some issues with the ASO Cube. It can take a long time to clear the data in the ASO Cube compared to BSO data-clearing operations. We don't have a specific calculation in the ASO, and we only have these aggregate options on the ASO side. If we need calculations, we have to calculate them in the BSO and pass the data to the ASO Cube for the reporting. That's one of the drawbacks. Oracle could also improve on the data logging side as well.""The reporting feature in Oracle Hyperion isn't the best. It needs improvement."
