Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the analysis, because of the beta structure.""This is stable and scalable.""Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other.""Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers.""Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out.""It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward.""It is stable and scalable."

"The most valuable feature is the virus and malware detection capability.""Helps to protect our organization from known attacks.""The valuable features are device control, SONOR, and anti-virus.""The pricing is pretty good.""The solution offers very good security features and is comparable to Sophos.""Easy to use solution.""The solution can scale.""The most valuable feature of Symantec Endpoint Security is the protection of our systems."

"Device Control is very user-friendly.""The endpoint protection features are valuable.""This solution's performance is good, and we've never had any issues with its stability.""It is very easy to use. The user interface is friendly.""Endpoint protection solution with machine learning, device control, and application control features. It is scalable and stable.""The most valuable feature of Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise is the application. Additionally, they are adding features frequently.""The most valuable features of Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise are the proactive threat protection and the normal spyware protection which they offer in addition to catching standard threats. It all works well for us even without an EDR.""It doesn't require an on-premises server to manage it. It allows us to monitor the machine to check if it is up-to-date and not lagging."

Cons
"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions""To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced.""The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs.""The SIEM could be improved.""FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting.""We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team.""Detections could be improved.""The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"They lack the visibility you get in a heuristical, artificial, AI type of product, like a next-gen antivirus.""We communicate with our local partners and they give us the license key. Then, we have to go to the portal and apply it, but sometimes it doesn't work. We then have to create a new administrative account and migrate all our endpoints. That is the only major issue we have been battling with.""Symantec's application security module needs some improvement. You need to create a lot of fingerprints for application security. For instance, let's say I have different brands of ATMs in my environment, like Wincor and NCR. I use GRG to deploy an application control to whitelist some applications. I have to get the exact image of the different models of ATMs. When I tested in the past, some machines would not connect to the server without that.""The reporting function needs to be more user friendly in general.""Users mostly complain that the solution slows down the system whenever something is scanned.""There are a few negative points. They should separate the feature for each separate solution for mobile devices. The second one is about the price, it's expensive. Finally, the third would be the complexity of implementation.""Automation of tasks should be improved on SEPM. It is currently manual, and we should be able to automate installation and deployment from the client side.""About four years back, Symantec's signature was very heavy and their signature patch was around 200MB or 300MB files."

More Symantec Endpoint Security Cons →

"The product must develop some virus definition features.""We are currently looking at CrowdStrike as a replacement option because on-prem support is going away under Symantec.""The product is a bit resource-intensive.""Needs to be more user-friendly; lacks a simple way to search data.""Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise used to be a stable product, but now that aspect needs improvement. They also used to provide good technical support, but now not so much, so that needs improvement.""The product's security features could be improved - it is still possible for hackers to penetrate your servers even when using it.""The scanning area of the product should be made a little faster as it is the only area of concern in the tool where improvements are required.""Symantec Endpoint Security Enterprise should focus on cloud security with Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS rather than having their standard solution."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
