The product is very user-friendly, has an easy-to-use interface, and ROI can be achieved in less time
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is very user-friendly."
  • "Analytics could be much better."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for finance, supply chain, and production.

What is most valuable?

The product is very user-friendly. It comes with a package. It provides the basic configuration for all functionalities and decent analytics capability. It has an easy-to-use interface. The basic configuration covers the basics of all modules. The scalability of the tool is helpful. We had to do some customizations, but we did not face any challenges.

The tool's performance is very good since the data volumes are not very large. We're targeting a specific target group. The implementation timelines are very reasonable. The pricing is effective. We were able to achieve the expected outcome for the business much faster. The cloud-native features of AWS have contributed well to the solution's efficiency. The integration is much better. The disaster recovery and data backup features work fine.

What needs improvement?

Analytics could be much better. The solution must provide a lot of options so that the analytics dashboard looks much better. The vendor must bring in more analytics features. Currently, the analytics features are decent but not great. The production modules and HR components must be improved. Production planning and detailed warehouse management features must be improved.

While migrating to AWS, we faced certain issues with the API integration and the configuration of the add-ons. We thought changes wouldn't be required, but some changes were required. We also faced some challenges with the compatibility of the patches. The additional functionalities must be more flexible and scalable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years.

The tool’s stability is fine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is not highly scalable. It has limitations in functionality. It is scalable, but only up to a certain extent.

How was the initial setup?

We implement the tool for customers. It is effective. We can configure the business processes much faster for medium-sized businesses. Switching from Excel-based manual work or legacy systems to SAP was fast, smooth, and easy. The deployment is straightforward. The time required for implementation is reasonable.

What was our ROI?

The ROI cycle is faster than that of other products. We can achieve ROI in less time. It is much faster, decent, and better. We have seen a lot of improvements.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool has better pricing models than S/4 HANA. The licensing can be monthly or yearly, depending on customer requirements. We must pay for support additionally.

Designed for small and medium-sized enterprises
Pros and Cons
    • "There are limitations of SAP Business One. It's a complex topic, and exploring options like SAP HANA is challenging at the moment. Understanding the limitations of ERP requires thorough research. I suggest conducting some preliminary investigations into ERP products before making a decision. We chose SAP Business One as it caters to SMEs like ours, acknowledging and accepting its limitations. While a larger product exists, switching would entail budget considerations due to the ongoing implementations. Therefore, the current situation with SAP Business One is not a matter of concern."

A comprehensive solution for business process optimization with flexibility

What is our primary use case?

I'm an implementation partner. I implement SAP Business One for many people. I’ve implemented around 200+ implementations to many companies across the globe for various use cases, including manufacturing, central, and distribution production services.

    What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to use, consume, flexible, and adaptable to business processes. It simplifies business process optimization and enables companies to tailor the solution to their needs. Additionally, the consistency and scalability provided by SAP HANA have helped customers achieve successful use cases. In short, It is simple, scalable, and consistent in terms of usage.

    What needs improvement?

Business One is simple to install, but with HANA, it becomes a resource-hungry system, requiring much maintenance. For small customers, this can be a showstopper. Medium-sized companies can afford the maintenance, but small businesses may struggle. Maintaining HANA for user licenses and scalability can be challenging, especially for consolidation and intercompany processes.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One on AWS for 17 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    The product is stable.

I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable, but it requires a few functionalities and scalability points.

100 people are using this solution.

I rate the solution’s scalability a seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

We use customer support every day. They let us know what to do and what not to do. The training is consistent.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. Once HANA came into the picture, It became more manageable for scaling with security and scalability.

Deployment is pretty straightforward when it comes to SAP implementations. We follow a five-step method to understand the configuration requirements of the customers and the business process, and then we make a document called the Business Blueprint. The outcome is used to configure the system, which is a configuration development phase. We ensure we configure, develop, and deploy whatever this customer requires. When we get a sign-up from the customer, we move to training and data migration. When we launch this for users, and we support the users from that point of time till the time, the adaptability is very high.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution has a pay-per-license model.

What other advice do I have?

SAP Business One can also be deployed in the cloud. We host it in a data center. The technical infrastructure is based on .NET and Azure technologies. It is an open platform for customization and integration.

We do standard implementations. We are satisfied with SAP Business One. Our system is fine, and we can do many things in the front end.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

Provides good stability, but its UI features need improvement
    Pros and Cons
    • "The product makes it easier to overview the ERP system and manufacturing processes through different modules."
    • "The AI tools, programming languages, and dashboard customization should be easier."

    What is most valuable?

The product makes it easier to overview the ERP system and manufacturing processes through different modules.

    What needs improvement?

The product's UI could be better. The AI tools, programming languages, and dashboard customization should be easier.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One on AWS for almost a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    The product has good stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 100 SAP Business One on AWS users in our organization. The scalability depends on the number of user licenses. Adding new users is costly.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. However, it takes a lot of time to deploy.

    What about the implementation team?

    We implemented the product in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product's license is expensive. It could be cheaper.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have evaluated Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics 365.

What other advice do I have?

A robust system that is easy to upgrade and maintain
    Pros and Cons
    • "The maintenance is a significant advantage as it is supported by the international community rather than the local community."
    • "I would like to achieve better integration with AWS so that it becomes more interconnected with the SAP system."

What is our primary use case?

We are a system integration company that specializes in integrating SAP Business One. SAP Business One on AWS is suitable for those who prefer not to host their network infrastructure on-premises. This may be due to limited space or the inability to maintain the network infrastructure effectively. Therefore, migrating to AWS would be a better option for them.

    What is most valuable?

The maintenance is a significant advantage as it is supported by the international community rather than the local community. This maintenance support for their system makes upgrades much more convenient than relying on a local vendor.

    What needs improvement?

I haven't yet seen the cost-benefit of being on AWS. I'm not able to compare the monthly costs, so the pricing could be improved.

I would like to achieve better integration with AWS so that it becomes more interconnected with the SAP system. If a company already has an existing HRMS system and another inventory system, integration between one on-premise and the other on AWS might pose difficulties. Integrating one system on the cloud and another on-premise seems challenging, and I can't imagine how it would work seamlessly. Perhaps it could be possible if both systems were migrated to the cloud. For example, if they move the HRMS to the cloud and ensure that the two systems can integrate with each other in the cloud.

I would like to have additional party modules available with SAP Business One. If additional accounts are available, customers can also subscribe to other supplementary products alongside SAP Business One, thus creating a package.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One on AWS for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of SAP Business One on AWS as seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability of SAP Business One on AWS as six out of ten because I am uncertain about how effectively we can copy the database or handle different sizes.

How are customer service and support?

    The technical support is good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to utilize Oracle and Sage before transitioning to SAP Business One, which is much more robust. Once SAP Business One is configured, we no longer encounter errors even after a few months, unlike other systems where bugs and discrepancies tend to occur even after configuration. However, with SAP Business One, 99 percent of what we configure is precisely what we get.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and takes approximately two to three months to complete. The most time-consuming aspect of the deployment is collecting all the business requirements to properly configure some of the existing workflows.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SAP Business One on AWS nine out of ten.

The on-premises version of SAP Business One requires one engineer and two developers for maintenance.

SAP Business One is a more robust and established solution compared to the others.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

    Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Along with an easy initial setup phase, the solution also provides a set of impressive modules
    Pros and Cons
    • "The modules, like the accounting and procurement modules, especially the finance and accounting modules, are quite impressive in the solution."
    • "It would be better if the solution was on a cloud infrastructure."

What is our primary use case?

In our company, we use SAP Business One for our business applications.

    What is most valuable?

The modules, like the accounting and procurement modules, especially the finance and accounting modules, are quite impressive in the solution.

    What needs improvement?

It would be better if the solution was on a cloud infrastructure. The deployment should be made available in the cloud infrastructure. In short, the tool should be available in the cloud-native.

The solution needs to be more scalable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One on AWS for about seven years. I am a customer of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight and a half out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Close to 60 users are using the solution in my organization.

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

Regarding technical support, some functional-related issues are in the solution we are coordinating with the partner.

    How was the initial setup?

    The initial setup was easy.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is quite an impressive product for small and mid-size industries. I think this is a perfect solution for those looking for a perfect ERP solution, especially for small and medium-sized industries.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Possesses the ability to offer all the features or modules required for SMBs
    Pros and Cons
    • "With the tool, there is no shutdown or breakdown time my company experiences."
    • "The tool's cost is an area of concern where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

My company's customers are from the retail domain, and they capture all their transactions using SAP Business One. My company deals with around four to five customers who are using SAP Business One on AWS.

    What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable features revolve around its small size and its ability to have all the features or modules required for SMBs. My company predominantly uses all of the features offered by the product.

    What needs improvement?

The tool's cost is an area of concern where improvements are required. Though the tool's cost is reasonable, it could be made a bit cheaper so that more people can utilize its services, especially by SMEs, where the price of the tool may seem a bit high.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Business One on AWS for four years. My company has a partnership with SAP. Our company's customers use AWS.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My company deals with retail and trading customers.

One of my company's customers has 50 users of the product, and the DB size is 300 GB.

How are customer service and support?

During the initial stages of using the product, my company had to open a few ports, which caused us to contact the tool's partner's help desk.

    How was the initial setup?

As my company started to use SAP Business One on AWS, Amazon's partner helped us to configure a few things.

Whenever there is a need for installation, my company reaches out to AWS' partner, especially since our systems will be in HA mode. My company did not find any issues in the aforementioned area. Only when my company wants to upgrade or downgrade does it reach out to AWS' partner, which happens one or two times.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    The tool's cost is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

Speaking about how SAP Business One on AWS has improved our company's efficiency of the business processes, I would say that the tool's main demand is for the infrastructure. With the tool, there is no shutdown or breakdown time my company experiences. The tool's advantage for our company revolves around the fact that whenever we want to increase the infrastructure, we can easily increase it so that the business doesn't stop. That aforementioned area can be regarded as a major advantage in AWS.

The tool's features that have the largest impact on business operations stem from the fact that it is used by sales personnel since it offers modules like sales, purchase, inventory, and finance, which are predominantly used. Service and fixed asset modules in SAP Business One are not used much, but the other modules are used extensively.

The cloud infrastructure of AWS has impacted the performance or reliability of SAP Business One since, in the past, my company used the tool's on-premises version, which we were unable to increase the demand of, including the time revolving around the financial year. The aforementioned area consists of details as to why my company moved the tool to AWS, where we got a lot of advantage as you can add more resources whenever required.

I rate the integration capabilities of the product an eight out of ten. My company did not face any challenges with the integration part of the product, especially since we had Qlik Sense for reporting, which is hosted in Qlik Cloud. My company also uses a lot of downstream applications. In general, my company didn't find much challenge with SAP Business One's integration process.

The one big challenge my company faced with the product occurred during the festival season in our country when we were specifically using the tool's on-premises version, and our systems got choked. When our company had a one-day or two-day sale, it was not booked in our system. With the use of AWS, all the transactions were captured properly. There were some difficulties since our company's systems were down during the two-day sale.

    AWS' partner maintains the tool.

I recommend others who are planning to buy the solution choose the right partner before purchasing the tool. The product is stable, while the area of implementation is something that can be done properly by the right partner.

I can recommend the product to others who want to use it.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.
