The initial setup was complex. I would rate it four out of ten.

The solution's initial setup is fairly difficult. I don't perform the actual installation of the product, but I work with the product by adding new monitoring targets and ensuring they are properly configured.

Setting up SolarWinds is straightforward on a small network. It may be challenging for a larger, more complex network that extends to multiple remote locations, with firewalls between sites. During the deployment, we encountered some issues related to networks and firewalls, but SolarWinds support helped us make it work.

You can complete the initial installation in under a day, but configuring it to monitor all your devices will take time. You must adjust some settings on the server and all the network devices you want to monitor.

It is fairly complex, but once we have it installed and running, there is not much need to look at anything. Initially, when you set it up, it'll take a technician about a week to get things running close to right. It also depends on the time he has to sit down and do it.

The setup process and determining all the log files from all the different systems is quite easy. However, to get all the information out of the log files and create rules and access based on the log files, means that it's sensible to hire consultants. The simple setup of the virtual machine takes about two hours and after that it really depends on the number of log files and the number of devices. You're looking at about half a day and you have pretty much installed everything.

The initial setup is pretty straight forward. In the standalone small business solution, we are using Microsoft SQL Express which is already integrated with the solution. I think they could make it easier to move from the Express version to the SQL Server version to give the user more flexibility.

Setting up SolarWinds is straightforward, and you can deploy it in a few hours. One person is enough to deploy and maintain the solution. Our company trains people like me to use multiple solutions.

For example, I am responsible for more than six solutions: SolarWinds, WhatsApp Gold, PRTG, and firewalls like MAC, TUM, WAF, etc. At other companies, you may have a whole team doing just two of those things. It may differ from company to company, but one person is enough at our firm.

Whether SolarWinds is easy to set up depends on what you're doing. Before a technician did the implementation, someone had been tweaking and operating. However, the tool does not support many things or have much to offer.

I would not say that the initial setup is straightforward or complex. It is a bit of both. I would say it's forty percent straightforward and sixty percent complex.

Deployment time depends on the size of the infrastructure, the number of services that are going to be monitored, and the types of services.

The installation is very easy. Even if you are non-technical, it's not an issue to get everything up and running.

You only need maybe two people to monitor and manage it once it is deployed. However, if the environment is quite large, you may need more.

The initial setup is straightforward. The actual initial installation is not a problem. The problems come when you do your upgrades with it.

It took about a week to set it up and get all little things going in the way I wanted to. To make sure that correct data logs are going in, I tweaked some of the rules and filters and the domain across the net with individual systems.

The initial setup of this solution is straightforward.

The length of deployment depends on how big the infrastructure is. Most of the deployments take less than a week, but some go beyond that. In my experience, it all depends on how many boxes you have and how many we are taking logs from. Some people will give you a whole list, while others will choose only specific things. You have to give people something that is unique to their environment.

One person is enough for the deployment.
