Easy to use, scalable, and offers good technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is easy to use."
  • "The solution needs to offer more integration capabilities with other systems and applications."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use the product for business purposes. We use it mainly for Outlook and Microsoft applications.

What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to use.

You can scale the solution.

The installation is very easy and we found the deployment to be very fast.

Technical support has been helpful in the past when we have needed to reach out.

What needs improvement?

The product would be better if you could scale it more.

The solution needs to offer more integration capabilities with other systems and applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for a few years now. It's been a while. It's not a new solution for me.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

While you can scale the product to a certain extent, we would like to see more scalability potential.

We have 350 people using the solution currently.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've contacted technical support in the past. They're good. I found them to be helpful and responsive. I'm satisfied with the level of support I can get when I need to.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used an earlier version of Microsoft. We always use Microsoft. We did not use another kind of product before this.

How was the initial setup?

The installation process is very straightforward. It's not difficult or complex.

The deployment happens quickly. We had it up and running in maybe ten to 15 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

I've handled the installation on my own laptop in the past. I know how to install it. I don't need the assistance of a consultant or an integration. That said, for my company, for those types of business installations, I did not handle the setup directly.

What other advice do I have?

As a cloud-based solution, we are always on the latest version. It's updated automatically. We do not need to update it manually.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. If it offered more integration with other applications, I'd rate it higher.

I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations.

Good interaction between different products, but the cloud version and the desktop version should have the same experience
Pros and Cons
  • "The interaction between different products is most valuable. I use Excel, Mail, Teams, and PowerPoint, not really much else."
  • "Sometimes, it tries to be a little bit too clever in preempting things that you want to do. The settings can be pretty complicated. It has the desktop version and the cloud version. You can have settings in the cloud version that are impacting your desktop version, but you don't know because you can't see the settings like rules and other things. So, they need to think about the experience. It should be the same if you log in to the cloud or if you log in via desktop."

How has it helped my organization?

Some of the interactive stuff that is available on Teams has been useful during the pandemic.

What is most valuable?

The interaction between different products is most valuable. I use Excel, Mail, Teams, and PowerPoint, not really much else.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes, it tries to be a little bit too clever in preempting things that you want to do. The settings can be pretty complicated. It has the desktop version and the cloud version. For how long have I used the solution?

I've used Microsoft products for the last 20 years. I don't know for how long have we been on the current version. The upgrades are all centralized in the companies that I've worked for.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have contacted support, and it depends on who you get. I've had experiences where it took quite some time to get to the problem, but I've also had some really good experiences.

How was the initial setup?

It was quite straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a seven out of 10.

User-friendly with a straightforward setup and good scalability potential
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is extremely straightforward."
  • "It's a bit complex in itself when you get into items such as security or compliance."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for email, collaboration, some business applications like Sharepoint, and the Exchange server.

How has it helped my organization?

For example, we have depended heavily on it for our remote work capability, we have worked 100% remotely since the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

What is most valuable?

The email on offer is very nice. It's very easy to use. We've enjoyed that aspect so far. It's very clearly laid out.

We can easily collaborate between users with. We can share and work on documents, for example.

The solution has the capabilities to help me organize my week.

The product is very proactive. They know there are issues before we report them and they alert us to the fact that they are working to fix things.

For the most part, the solution is very user-friendly.

The initial setup is extremely straightforward.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft is having some issues now and therefore it may not be the best time to evaluate them. However, they acknowledge that they have the issues. They are working to fix things.

The stability is a real issue right now. It's something that they need to fix.

It's a bit complex in itself when you get into items such as security or compliance. That said, if you're knowledgeable it's no trouble. We are excited to see the end result after the various roll outs that MS is currently carrying on.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for years. It's been a long time. I have quite a bit of experience with the product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is not so good. It's an aspect of the solution we really don't like. They need to work on this. There is some stability, however, there are some issues with integrations. I am assuming that these recent stability issues stem from the various rollouts and integration activities that MS is carrying out to better improve the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution scales easily. If you want to add people, you simply add them. However, that means you need to buy more licenses, so your cost will go up.

How are customer service and technical support?

Support can be a bit better, however, they are quite good at being proactive. Usually, they know there is a problem before we do, and by the time we reach out they are working on a fix of some sort.

Some of their support is AI as well, which means that over time, as it learns, it will get better and more effective. Basically, it needs to be a bit more robust. It needs to be more flexible in terms of understanding what you're looking for. That will likely come /improve with time.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did use Outlook and Exchange, however, the ease of managing a SaaS versus on-prem meant it was more scalable and it's easy to manage. We didn't have to bother with any back-end integration.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex at all. It was straightforward for our team. Basically, you log in online and download the software and everything is basically automatically set up so it's easy. You don't have to worry about complexities.

The deployment just takes a few minutes. It's very fast and easy. Of course, the download time depends on the speed of your internet.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the process ourselves. We did not need the assistance of an integrator or consultant. It was all done in-house.

What was our ROI?

A bit of a tough one to calculate for MS365 but I would say that it is positive, very positive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is flexible. You can pay yearly or monthly. It's up to you.

The overall cost is relative. There aren't a lot of other mainstream options, except for maybe Google Email.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Google Apps

What other advice do I have?

We are using the latest version of the solution at this point. I cannot recall the exact version number, however. It may be the 2019 release.

Currently, we have about 30 people on our team.

We do plan to continue to use the solution going forward. We have no plans to change to something else.

I'd recommend this solution to other organizations. I would rate it at an 8 out of 10. The collaboration capabilities we have now are amazing. We really appreciate what it empowers us to achieve.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have only tested Microsoft and Google, two years ago.

We use Jira for project management.

We have also been using older versions of Microsoft.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

It only takes a matter of minutes to deploy.

What about the implementation team?

We completed the deployment ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's pretty difficult to make a cost estimation, in cases where we need additional features.

It might be out of the budget, and sometimes the extra price can surprise you.

I think predictability in terms of costs.

Overall it could be cheaper, as many times the additional features cost a lot and we are thinking twice about using them.

What other advice do I have?

It is very stable, even during the period when everyone was working from home. I would recommend this solution to others. We got great value out of it.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

A stable, fast, and user-friendly solution with good integration between the applications

  • "The integration between the applications is the most valuable. I can share things using my phone, computer, and OneDrive. It is very stable and fast. It is also user-friendly and scalable."
