Stable and flexible with an easy initial setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The installation process is very straightforward."
  • "It would be nice if we had the option to open a document even if it was created with another application."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution on a daily basis for work-related activities.

What is most valuable?

Overall, the solution is very good.

It's a stable product.

It's quite a flexible solution.

We've found the solution to be easy to use, even for those who don't necessarily always use Microsoft products.

The installation process is very straightforward.

What needs improvement?

So far, everything has been very good in terms of usage. I can't think of an area where it could be improved. It's not missing any features at all. It's quite a complete solution.

It would be nice if we had the option to open a document even if it was created with another application. For example, we use both Google Docs and Microsoft Docs. When we send documents, we need to be aware of what application the person receiving the document will be using. If I know someone is using Microsft, I'll send the document to them in Microsoft. However, it would be nice if I could send them a Google Doc and they would still be able to open and access it in Microsoft.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for about four years at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not sure of how many users are on the solution currently.

It's my understanding that we do have plans to increase usage in the future.

How are customer service and support?

I don't have any experience with Microsoft's technical support. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they are. I don't have enough experience to form an opinion.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

While we didn't previously use a different solution, we are actively using Google products currently. We use a lot of Google Docs and Google Sheets.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not overly complex or difficult. It was pretty straightforward and very easy.

I cannot recall how long it took to actually deeply the solution. It might have been only a few hours or so.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not sure which version of the solution we are using. It's my understanding that it is an older version and not necessarily the latest.

I would rate the solution at a ten out of ten. We've been quite pleased with its capabilities overall.

I would recommend this solution to other users.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Works great on any kind of platform
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature that I have found most valuable is the ability to work everywhere on every kind of device, because I'm a Mac addict and actually it's quite good on the Mac."
  • "Sometimes it is quite hard to get a grasp on what features are going to be available at what time. For instance, we had to wait for a very long time on the breakout rules in Teams. There is a roadmap and there are also some blog posts, but you never know when you're going to get it. So it would be preferable to get it more in advance."

What is our primary use case?

Interestingly, for one of my customers it is a hybrid model. With several others, it's on-premise and some of them are moving towards cloud only.

What is most valuable?

The feature that I have found most valuable is the ability to work everywhere on every kind of device, because I'm a Mac addict and actually it's quite good on the Mac.

What needs improvement?

In terms of what could be improved, sometimes it is quite hard to get a grasp on what features are going to be available at what time. For instance, we had to wait for a very long time on the breakout rules in Teams. There is a roadmap and there are also some blog posts, but you never know when you're going to get it. So it would be preferable to get it more in advance.

Because it is such a large suite of applications, it would be beneficial to have less overlap. So for instance, you have the Power Platform and you have all kinds of applications that you can use. But there's also the Teams Platform, which has an overlap with Kaizala, and Kaizala is not developed anymore. So that would be something to think about.

The other feature that could be improved is the management of the Waffle, the start menu of Office 365. It is quite limited in how you can manage that menu. Some of my customers want to use it as a portal from a SharePoint perspective and they want to have some application files in there. They don't want the whole feature set. Waffle management could be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft 365 Business for about five or six years. I only started my company last February, so from my company perspective, it's only been a year. But I do have experience with Office 365 for many years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In terms of stability, I haven't found any limitations, accept at the beginning of the COVID-19 period. Initiation of OneDrive and SharePoint was kind of tardy because of the massive use of Teams at that moment. So Microsoft kind of scaled down and that was noticeable, but that's basically it and it was fixed.

How are customer service and technical support?

I was in contact with technical support because my hosting provider could not find the problem. Microsoft contacted me directly within a matter of one hour or so, the issue was detected and it was solved within the next hour. So that was okay.

I am absolutely satisfied with Microsoft technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is a fair price but sometimes the licensing can be quite complex. In that case you have to fly in a license expert, but I think for small businesses it's very cost efficient. It would be beneficial if was be a non-profit license model for healthcare organizations. In this case, they tend to just use a limited amount of functionality in the Microsoft 365 because of the pricing.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to anyone considering Business 365 is to go use it. It is a brilliant service delivery solution for small businesses as well as for larger businesses that don't want to be responsible anymore for their on-premise environment because if that should fail there is a loss of information and a loss of productivity, which they cannot afford.

On a scale of one to ten, I would give Microsoft 365 Business an eight.

Accessible from anywhere and doesn't require any support
Pros and Cons
  • "We can access it from anywhere. We can access it from home, the office, or any other place. It is a simple and the right product for the current COVID situation."
  • "Some of the functionalities available in the desktop version are not available on the cloud."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for documents and PowerPoint presentations. We are most probably using its latest version.

What is most valuable?

We can access it from anywhere. We can access it from home, the office, or any other place. It is a simple and the right product for the current COVID situation.

What needs improvement?

Some of the functionalities available in the desktop version are not available on the cloud.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have around 1,000 people.

How are customer service and technical support?

It is a good product, so we don't need anything from the support team.

How was the initial setup?

It was easy. We did not do anything. It was already available on the cloud as a part of the Microsoft platform. There is no need to implement it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Given the current COVID situation, I am quite happy that we use this product. With a cheaper solution, we might end up needing support.

What other advice do I have?

It is quite a good product. Technically, we are happy with this product.

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a nine out of 10.

Stable, very scalable, easy to set up, and extremely useful for office productivity
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams is most valuable. It is a great product, and it has really been very valuable for us during the pandemic. It enabled good collaboration. Even after the pandemic, we will continue to use Microsoft Team in our organization. They are continuously improving the product, which is a very positive thing."
  • "It should have better pricing. It is a monopoly product for Microsoft, and I don't think they will change the pricing. They do not offer any discount."

What is our primary use case?

It has Exchange, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It also has SharePoint that is used for sharing documents. It has Microsoft Teams, which is used for collaboration. All these are extremely useful for office productivity.

How has it helped my organization?

We have recently increased its usage. We are also using Microsoft Teams now. We are very happy with this solution, particularly with Microsoft Teams because it has enabled us to collaborate very well with our colleagues during the pandemic. The collaboration within the company has been really great through Microsoft Teams

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams is most valuable. It is a great product, and it has really been very valuable for us during the pandemic. It enabled good collaboration. Even after the pandemic, we will continue to use Microsoft Teams in our organization.

They are continuously improving the product, which is a very positive thing.

What needs improvement?

It should have better pricing. It is a monopoly product for Microsoft, and I don't think they will change the pricing. They do not offer any discount.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using it for a long time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is quite stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable. For MS Office Business, we have 70 to 80 users. We are also using basic MS Office that has online Word and Excel. We have a total of about 350 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

We didn't need any support so far. We are a tech company, and we are able to solve 99% of problems at our end. We don't have to go to Microsoft.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have tried different online products for office tools, but nothing matches the quality of Office 365.

How was the initial setup?

Because it is in the cloud, you can access it through a browser. There is also an application for Microsoft Teams. You just have to download the application and log in. It connects to the cloud server, and you can start using it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is certainly expensive, but you need it, so you pay for it. There is not much price negotiation, but the product is good. We're going to keep using it despite it being expensive. There isn't any good alternative.

What other advice do I have?

I would absolutely recommend this solution. We'll continue to use it. We have also started to use Power BI.

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a nine out of ten.

Handles our day to day Office-related tasks and scales with our needs
Pros and Cons
  • "The scalability is okay."
  • "The latest update has got a lot of bugs and it is causing us problems."

What is our primary use case?

We use the modules for non-specific, everyday tasks including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and others.

What needs improvement?

The latest update has got a lot of bugs and it is causing us problems.

The stability should be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Microsoft 365 Business for between two and three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This product should be more stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is okay. We have more than 300 users in the organization.

How are customer service and technical support?

I don't have any experience with Microsoft's technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to using Microsoft 365 Business, we used an Oracle project.

What about the implementation team?

Our technical team was responsible for deployment. I was not personally involved.

We probably have about three people who are in charge of deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay regular licensing fees to continue using Microsoft 365 Business.

What other advice do I have?

I don't have a specific answer as to whether I would recommend it to others. It depends on the situation.

At the moment, we plan to continue using it in the future.

I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

Helpful for team collaboration, email, and generating quotes
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature for us is Microsoft Teams."
  • "The pricing for this solution could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We do not have a central location for our employees and everybody works from home.

I use this solution for things like email and generating quotes for customers.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for us is Microsoft Teams. It replaces Skype where you can speak to one another and you can set tasks. We have found it really helpful.

What needs improvement?

The pricing for this solution could be improved. We get caught by the exchange rates in South Africa.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for five or six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable. It just works.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution.

We have ten users.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never had to speak with the technical support for this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to buying a license, it is much cheaper and a good buy.

What other advice do I have?

This is a solution that I recommend.

I have not yet set it up so the messaging can be sent to my mobile phone, but this is something I know can be done because our technical people have done it.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Simple to use, stable, and easy to install
Pros and Cons
  • "What was most valuable for me was how simple this solution is to start using."
  • "The admin panels have too few samples."

What is our primary use case?

We are currently testing this solution, but the primary use case of this solution is for email and Office online.

The deployment model we are using is a private cloud from Microsoft.

What is most valuable?

What was most valuable for me was how simple this solution is to start using.

What needs improvement?

The admin panels have too few samples. It would be better if it were expanded and more samples were added.

There are monthly updates from the developer for new functionalities, but when the updates occur, you lose where the regular functionalities were. They are no longer where you are used to them being.

In the next release, I would like to see visualizing. I would like this to be part of the solution, rather than independent.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The platform is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We don't need to expand this solution.

It is scalable. When we were in testing we tried the product and some of the team was testing some of the functionalities of Microsoft 365.

We have approximately five or six users.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not contacted technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy.

I did not deploy this solution, but I believe that it took anywhere from one to three months.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was through our team, not a vendor team.

What other advice do I have?

Pay attention to the migration of the daily solution to the new solution. This is the most painful part.

You can pay online for the migration from the old email server to the new one.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
