Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Extremely easy to use with its GUI-based functionality and large compatibility with various data sources. Also, maintenance processes are much more automated than ever, with fewer errors.""The solution is quite stable.""Cloud-based process run helps in not keeping the systems on while processes are running.""The most valuable feature is the set of visual data preparation tools.""I like the interface, which is probably my favorite part of the solution. It is really user-friendly for an IT person.""Data Science Studio's data science model is very useful.""The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is one tool that can do everything, and you have the ability to very easily push your design to prediction."

"The quality is very good.""IBM was chosen because of usability. It's point and click, whereas the other out-of-the box-solution, or open-source solutions, require full-on programming and a much higher skill level.""Very good data aggregation.""The visual modeling capability is one of its attractive features.""The supervised models are valuable. It is also very organized and easy to use.""It handles large data better than the previous system that we were using, which was basically Excel and Access. We serve upwards of 300,000 parts over a 150 regions and we need to crunch a lot of numbers.""Our business units' capabilities with SPSS Modeler is high. They no longer waste time on modeling and algorithms, meaning they are not coding any more. For example, segmentation projects now take one to three months, rather than six months to a year, as before.""It’s definitely scalable, it’s all on the same platform, it’s well integrated. I think the integration is important in terms of scalablility because essentially, having the entire suite helps a lot to scale it"

"Most of the features, especially on the data analysis tool pack, are really good. The way they do clustering and output is great. You can do fairly elaborate outputs. The results, the ensembles, all of these, are fantastic.""The solution is able to handle quite large amounts of data beautifully.""Good data management and analytics.""The most valuable feature is that you can use multiple algorithms for creating models and then you can compare the results between them.""The solution is very good for data mining or any mining issues.""he solution is scalable.""I like the way the product visually shows the data pipeline.""I found the ease of use of the solution the most valuable. Additionally, other valuable features include: the user interface, power to extract data, compatibility with other technologies (specifically with PS400), and automation of several tasks."

Cons
"The interface for the web app can be a bit difficult. It needs to have better capabilities, at least for developers who like to code. This is due to the fact that everything is enabled in a single window with different tabs. For them to actually develop and do the concurrent testing that needs to be done, it takes a bit of time. That is one improvement that I would like to see - from a web app developer perspective.""Although known for Big Data, the processing time to process 1.8 billion records was terribly slow (five days).""There were stability issues: 1) SQL operations, such as partitioning, had bugs and showed wrong results. 2) Due to server downtime, scheduled processes used to fail. 3) Access to project folders was compromised (privacy issue) with wrong people getting access to confidential project folders.""I find that it is a little slow during use. It takes more time than I would expect for operations to complete.""Server up-time needs to be improved. Also, query engines like Spark and Hive need to be more stable.""I think it would help if Data Science Studio added some more features and improved the data model.""In the next release of this solution, I would like to see deep learning better integrated into the tool and not simply an extension or plugin.""The ability to have charts right from the explorer would be an improvement."

More Dataiku Data Science Studio Cons →

"Dimension reduction should be classified separately.""Neural networks are quite simple, and now neural networks are evolving to these architecture related to deep learning, etc. They didn't incorporate this in IBM SPSS Modeler.""Regarding visual modeling, it is not the biggest strength of the product, although from what I hear in the latest release it's going to be a lot stronger. That, to me, has always been the biggest flaw in using this. It's very difficult to get good visualization.""It is not integrated with Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI.""When you are not using the product, such as during the pandemic where we had worldwide lockdowns, you still have to pay for the licensing.""Customer support is hard to contact.""Unstructured data is not appropriate for SPSS Modeler.""The biggest issue with the visual modeling capability is that we can't extract the SQL code under the hood."

More IBM SPSS Modeler Cons →

"While I don't personally need tutorials, I can't say that it wouldn't be helpful for others to have some to help them navigate and operate the system.""The product must provide better integration with cloud-native technologies.""The user interface of the solution needs improvement. It needs to be more visual.""The solution is very stable, but we do have some problems with discrepancies involving SAS not matching with the latest Java versions. It's not stable in cases where SAS tries to run on a different version because SAS doesn't connect with the latest Java update. Once a month we need to restart systems from scratch.""Technical support could be improved.""Virtualization could be much better.""The visualization of the models is not very attractive, so the graphics should be improved.""The initial setup is challenging if doing it for the first time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The annual licensing fees are approximately €20 ($22 USD) per key for the basic version and €40 ($44 USD) per key for the version with everything."
  • More Dataiku Data Science Studio Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Having in mind all four tools from Garner’s top quadrant, the pricing of this tool is competitive and it reflects the quality that it offers."
  • "If you are in a university and the license is free then you can use the tool without any charges, which is good."
  • "It is a huge increase to time savings."
  • "The scalability was kind of limited by our ability to get other people licenses, and that was usually more of a financial constraint. It's expensive, but it's a good tool."
  • "When you are close to end of quarter, IBM and its partners can get you 60% to 70% discounts, so literally wait for the last day of the quarter for the best prices. You may feel like you are getting robbed if you can't receive a good discount."
  • "It got us a good amount of money with quick and efficient modeling."
  • "$5,000 annually."
  • "This tool, being an IBM product, is pretty expensive."
  • More IBM SPSS Modeler Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "This solution is for large corporations because not everybody can afford it."
  • "The solution is expensive for an individual, but for an enterprise/institution (purchasing bulk licenses), it is not a high price for the use that will come from it."
  • "The solution must improve its licensing models."
